I havnt seen anyone on here looking to bring this guy in as a QB, put with this team needing any help they can get on offense to help Gordon and Cameron, is anyone looking to bring in Lynch as a WR/Return man/Slash role. I think Lynch can bring to an offense what Kordell Stewart and Antwan Randell El did for the Steelers. Im sure a coach like Murlarky would love to have him. I remember watching the Steelers and when Stewart was on the field in his slash role, nobody knew what play was going to be ran. I think Lynch could do the same things Stewart did on the field as a WR. The Browns already have an ex college QB for the wildcat in Gray, but I think Lynch would be more of an offensive threat. He would also add depth in a bad WR depth situation. I think he could beat out Cooper or PS Conner Vernon (who I did like watching at Duke then got cut by Oakland as an UDFA) for a roster spot. He could also come in and run the pistol like Kapernick did backing up Alex Smith with the ability to throw. Im sure Shannahan would have some plays up his sleeve like he did with a healthy RGIII.

If anyone else thinks he would be a player to help this offense, what round would you take him in?

Other QBs of note to not play QB in the pros: Stewert, Randell El, Cribbs, Edelman, Crouch, Bellisari (wow did Holmgren mess up bringing in those guys to play safety)

There is also talk of Lynch playing safety but I see him playing offense. I wouldn't put a guy that's 6' under 210 lbs at safety in the pros with no experience.

I want to revamp this offense in this upcoming draft as I see others do to. Would anyone consider Lynch in their plans?

Chicago Bears meet with Jordan Lynch at NFL Scouting Combine

By Patrick Schmidt - Feb 21st, 2014 at 5:39 pm

Former Northern Illinois Huskies quarterback Jordan Lynch isn’t the most high-profile 2014 NFL draft prospect at the NFL Scouting Combine that got underway today, but he may be one of the most intriguing after finishing third in the Heisman Trophy voting as a senior.

What makes Lynch so intriguing is that despite throwing for 6,030 yards and 49 touchdowns in addition to rushing for a staggering 3,735 yards and 42 touchdowns the last two seasons, the question remains if the 6-0 signal-caller has the skills necessary to be an NFL quarterback.

“I’m a quarterback first,” Lynch said on Friday. “I always say I’m a quarterback first and I’ve been proving people wrong ever since I started playing. There is no doubt in my mind I will continue to do that. What I tell teams is that they are going to make a huge mistake if they don’t put me at quarterback.”

With the success of shorter quarterbacks Russell Wilson and the likelihood that Johnny Manziel will be a top-five pick, the notion that Lynch can’t be a quarterback because of his height don’t hold much weight.

However, the concerns about his accuracy and arm strength are after a so-so week at the East-West Shrine game in January when he threw a pair of interceptions in the game and didn’t exactly wow people with the velocity he put on his passes.

One bad week did not make NFL teams forget about what he had done the past two years as Lynch said, “They’ve showed a lot of interest. With the way quarterbacks are going these days, teams are looking for that mobile guy, someone who can come in and run that zone option read. I think I fit well for them.

“I’ve talked to the Chicago Bears, Oakland Raiders, Cincinnati Bengals, Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns. Those are the ones I specifically remember.”

Only the Raiders and Browns don’t have an established starting quarterback, but the Bears, Bengals and Dolphins could view Lynch as a change-of-pace quarterback to add another dimension to the offense.

After attending high school at Chicago’s Mount Carmel, Lynch being drafted by the hometown Bears would be an absolute home run for him, but it likely won’t happen until late on Day 3 of the draft.

The MAC isn't known for defense. Lynch never held up to a decent defense.

I think I heard something like this before,, Josh Cribbs said something similar some time back I think..

If we're taking a late round project pick, it needs to be Logan Thomas. Jordan Lynch ran a 4.72 at 6'0 217 and Logan Thomas ran a 4.57 at 6'6 248. Now that's a project pick.

Watching Lynch play, he played bigger than 6' . But after the slow combine time, which is only .2 seconds slower than Hadens 4.5, Im guessing that he will be no earlier than a 6th round pick. I don't see him as a QB at all. I see him as an Edelman. A guy who could return punts and play the slot. Maybe a 7th rounder as insurance to Travis Benjamin.

He plays QB like a lineman.

No ability to read or adjust to a defense, a sack waiting to happen.

5 of them in the senior bowl, if you forgot.

There will be no playoffs. Can’t play with who we have out there and compounding it with garbage playcalling and worse execution. We don’t have good skill players on offense period. Browns 20 - Bears 17.

Relax...I thought we had already established that Farmer's comment was taken out of context.

Just repeating what others are saying.

Heck 32..............maybe you ought to look at correcting some of these dumb posts on which QBs are good and which aren't?????

I simply do not have a scout's eye, and likely many others don't either. I'm sure that we have competent people evaluating the potential draftees and that they will slot them on their big board accordingly. I am more optimistic that our new FO will deliver a solid draft, than the previous FO...

Why?

Because of their physical appearance?

Hmmmm...........I like a tough coach. However, in the FO, give me the guy w/brains.

The last tough guy in the FO.........hmmmm....who was that? Matt Freaking Millan.

Absolutely brilliant.

No one is even talking about taking them at QB, so there's no need for this doom and gloom.

I'll address the second part first, if I may: Thank you.
Why? It is much more than addition by subtraction. Assuming the scouting department is the same as previous, I am much more confidant with Farmer/Pettine versus LomBanner as they are grass roots football people, not an accoutant and a journalist. Drawing on 50 years in the automotive business, I liked the "vibes" from the new guys, totally unlike the previous guys...

It wasn't a compliment.

I will take brains over brawn any day.

Farmer is saying stupid things. Interviewing players that would be mistakes. He doesn't seem to value the QB position. Ignorant.

I know, but I'll take whatever I can get. Regarding the list: How many guys do we get to interview at the Combine...30, 60?

I wouldn't waste a 7th rd pick on that guy. He is total garbage. I remember a few years ago, Kiper had him 3rd or 4th on his big board going into the season. He did nothing the next 2 years. Horrible accuracy, and too many mistakes. He has a big arm, and that's about it. When he played against Alabama, he was 5-26, or something close to that.

By project pick I'm talking about moving him to TE or something, not actually invest any QB coaching on him. Yeah, he's complete trash as a QB.

However, maybe he's on a massive misdirection campaign.

Who knows?

I have some concerns about comments made by Pettine about Wilson .... but he's not the guy pulling the levers in the draft room.

I am willing to wait and see Thus far they haven't done anything good ... or bad.

I think we all need to step back, and take whatever is said with a grain of salt. It is the silly season.
