I wouldn't think it'd evolve into a PR problem just voiding everything relating to Bess given: minimal production, non-football related injury, all his sideshow off-field stunts (which was a media goldmine) and well documented issues from Miami to here and everything in-between and after.
At least the fans wouldn't think anything of it anyway I bet. We'll see I suppose!

I get that a persons ability is subjective. Some like a Dansby for instance, but I bet we'll hear someone say he's not that great or not worth the money?
People can say that if they want, but I believe they would be incorrect. Another thing I will say that I'm sure some will disagree with, because they did when Horton was hired to run the 3/4 base D.
Dansby would be a better fit and is comparable to DQ. DQ while he may have played in the 3/4, was much better fit for the 4/3. Let's put it this way, we saved enough in cap space to hire "one and a half Dansby's". LOL
So from a dollars and sense standpoint, yes DQ can be replaced. His leadership qualities and being a team captain? Not so much I'm afraid.
I really have no idea when it comes to replacing Rubin.

Why I say that is because the guy undoubtedly has mental problems and it could be seen as if the team is abandoning him when he needs their help the most.

Are we able to or not, anyone know? He was indeed on the non-football related injury, so why the hell SHOULD we pay him?
Bess' entire contract could be voided. Bess would have to sue to get paid his contract. It will be seen if the Browns go this route. It could be a PR problem if they do. My guess, they come to an amiable decision with Bess' agent where he gets some of the money and gets into mental counseling clinic.
We will know a lot more about that by the end of the first week in march

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Browns defensive linemen Ahtyba Rubin is in good standing with the team and not in jeopardy of being cut, his agent, Alan Herman told cleveland.com Sunday.
"I can assure Ahtyba is fine,'' said Herman. "All the conversations have been positive and everybody's happy to have him on the team.''
Profootballtalk.com reported on Feb. 28 that Rubin could be next after D'Qwell Jackson on the chopping block because of his $6.6 million salary for 2013, the final year of his contract.
"I met with (Executive Vice President) Sashi Brown at the combine,'' said Herman. "There will be no modifications to the contract and (coach) Mike Pettine is excited to have him. Who wouldn't be?''
Rubin, a seventh-year pro, finished first among Browns defensive linemen with 80 tackles last year and fifth overall after switching from defensive tackle to end in Ray Horton's scheme. Rubin, 27, signed a three-year extension in 2011 worth a total of $26.5 million, including $18 million guaranteed.
He was originally a sixth-round pick out of Iowa State in 2008.

That is a positive, if you thought he was going somewhere. I never thought that he was going anywhere. He's owed $200,000 to remain on the team, not $4 million like D'Qwell was.
