Since the "official" FA thread is long and those tweets are alll over the place, I thought one thread for rumors/tweets/visits etc might be appropriate:

https://twitter.com/AlbertBreer

Most cap room in the NFL as of midnight: 1) Oakland $59.9M, 2) Cleveland $49.0M, 3) Jacksonville $48.1M, 4) Miami $35.7M, 5) Jets $34.2M.

Ben Tate is the top running back on PFT‘s Hot 100 list of the top free agents, coming in at 38th overall, and he’s making his first reported visit of free agency on Wednesday.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on a Wednesday morning SportsCenter that Tate is in Cleveland to meet with the Browns about joining their backfield.

Tate has been linked to Cleveland for quite a while, as the Browns have been expected to be in the market for a back since they traded Trent Richardson last season and Tate was at the top of every list of possible free agents. Some may point to the presence of offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan as well, but Shanahan was gone from Houston before Tate arrived. Tate’s running style should be a good fit for what Shanahan likes in the running game, though.

Tate battled through broken ribs for much of last season before finally landing on injured reserve at the end of the year. He ran for 771 yards on 181 carries in the 14 games he was able to play.

11.55: We really liked Alex Carrington after something of a breakout 2012. Unfortunately he broke down early into his 2013 season that was set to lay the foundation for a big contract for him. Well now the vultures are circling, seeing a potential bargain in the versatile defensive lineman. Those vultures? According to Ian Rapoport it’s the Rams and perhaps more interesting the Browns. Cleveland are of course now coached by the man who managed the Bills defense last year who will be plenty familiar with Carrington and how he might fit into his scheme. Cleveland aren’t short on defensive line talent, but none of them have the kind of position flexibility as Carrington so it would make a lot of sense. Carrington had a +8.7 grade in 2012.

Golden Tate is now in the #Lions facility, per @MichelleBeisner. Complementing Megatron has been a focus. We’ll see if they close.

if we cannot get Golden Tate, then the idea of him with Calvin, Reggie, and Joqui is just fun to think about.

Great idea, Django. Wish we knew more, especially about Mack.

Houston Texans free-agent running back Ben Tate is visiting the Browns today, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported this morning.

A Browns spokesman, though, said the team would not confirm that the visit is taking place. Browns General Manager Ray Farmer's policy is to confirm when a free agent is in town, the spokesman said.

Jackson is a no,
Sandrs - God I hope not, better choices to be had, plus we tendered Hawkins
Moats would be intriguing, but we signed Dansby so I guess thats a no also

Looks like Walter is 0-3

damn updated my info and corrected my spelling....

Yeah you are correct, I forgot about that.... not sure iof that is good or not... kind of on the fence with him, sems fast, decent routes and catches away form his body, all those things Bess should have done for us.

But damn he is small and that's a big pay check for a little amount of work.

He also has a bad shoulder. Injured it four times last year. Not good for a back who won't lead with the shoulders. Dunno about this one. But...anything is 1000% better than what we have now.

True, anybody see Moats play much?

Obviously MP knows what he brings to the table,
how is he in coverage, run stopper, speed?

I know jack about him.

for sure,

I know he was hurt his first season and again last year, so can we question his durability? Seems so.

I was surprised to see he has only been in league 4 years... seems like he has been around a lot longer than that.

I saw that earlier today. Someone said Shefty confirmed this.

If true, I would expect most wouldn't be too upset. We were going to get a guy we wanted or make a rival pay through the nose for him.

Wow, nice haul for McCown. That's a little more than backup money

The #Bucs deal for Josh McCown: It’s two years for $10M. He gets $4.75M this year, $5.25M next year.

Poor Cam Newton...S.Smith and LaFell about to leave and they have no cap money to compete for a starting caliber vet. Pick 28 will be a WR, lol. They may have to trade up if they want one of Evans, Lee or Beckham. Really bad spot

https://twitter.com/JasonLaCanfora

W/out Steve Smith, here are the Panthers WRs right now. King, McNutt, Pilares, Webb, Bersin, Clemons. They combined for 0 catches in '13.

Very strange...

Jets are in on Decker and J.Jones. First I've heard about Jones. Top-WR demands has scared some FOs off obviously, they're probably too rich for what they'd bring as WR2 here

I wonder if they would be desperate enough to trade a real draft pick for Greg Little?

Browns Head Coach Mike Pettine Speaks

Greg Little, where does he stand?): "I know Greg was high on our draft board where I was last year. He’s a big, explosive athlete. I know he had some struggles this year. I really can’t speak to why. He’s a guy I know our offensive staff is looking forward to getting back on campus and getting a chance to work with."

If the Broncos let Decker go maybe Heckert throws a late rounder our way? Jets have some extra comp picks, so they could part with a day 3 pick.

That said, I'd still give him one last shot as a backup. He does have some value to spot start outside OR inside. He's a pretty strong 5th WR to have on the roster because of that.

Yes. I don't know why people are so quick to cut bait on Little. As of right now we need him. Even we get two new wide receivers you just push him down the depth chart and that makes our team deeper.

It's not like he is getting paid an unbearable amount.

Wow, bummed we weren't in on him for that price, GM Reese with another value signing...and he's now looking at my other OG target Shelley Smith, smart man, lol

https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/03/12/2014-free-agency-live-blog-day-2/

14.55 UPDATE! The numbers are finally available for the Geoff Schwartz deal and the Giants look to have done very well here. A four year, $16.8m deal with $6.2m is somewhat of a steal for our top available guard in Free Agency, but it also gives Schwartz some security after a series of short term deals.

That's what Lauvao got, a RG-only by now. G.Schwartz can start and play 3 positions. It was even reported that he's gonna start at RT for the G-Men

That was a missed opportunity right there...brother connection and all

I would be very happy if we could get him back to the level he played at in the 2nd half of 2012.

We have to keep him for atleast his year before his contract is up, he's the type of player that will all of a sudden have a great year in his last year of his contract....So we atleast have to keep him for that year...

On Alex Mack? Yes. Ravens, too. RT @Steve_Cardenas: @RapSheet Are the Colts one of those teams?

Colts and Ravens still hanging around. I'd expect Ozzie to at least push our wallet around. The Colts scare me, they're a crazy run org, somewhat the new Al Davis in the league. If they didn't suck into Luck, they'd still pick top 3.

5years, 62mil, 30 guaranteed, 15 signing bonus should do the trick

Cap hit 2014: ~8 mil (3mil SB + 5mil fully guaranteed base salary)
