Tate's off the board right (Lions). Hawkins appears to be on the way of being a Brown.
So the way I see it - We lost starting Safety in Ward who played an aggressive in the box position that got him a Pro-Bowl birth. We gained in a pretty agreesive tackling Safety who is pretty experienced in coverages and ball hawking oh and who loves the Browns from the heart.
We lost a starting MLB who I thought was Solid but was getting too old to progress as a Coverage LB...we went and got an older MLB but he is pretty well known in his coverage attributes. Hopefully we strengthened our position and not weakened it.
We lost a starting Slot WR who Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest. We all wish him well but he was horrible last year. We picked up a kid that we admired his prospects as a water bug WR did not show fear in the middle. I think that was an upgrade there without a doubt.
The only Plug in "NEED" we don't have is that we lost our Starting RG of a couple of years and did not pick up a replacement...possibly the 100% healing and conditioning of Pinkston takes care of that.
You want to go into the draft with no holes. It doesn't mean you go for an All Pro in every position but you don't wish to have any Urgent Needs.
O: LT ok, LG ok, C 99% ok, RG ok, RT ok, WR1 ok, WR2 ok, TE ok, WR3 ok, TE2 ok, QB (Hoyer) ok, RB Lewis/Baker ok
Defense All there w/4 man DL 3 DL we need another ILB.
K ok, P ok, LS ok Preturn ok, KO return (Baker) ok
Now upgrades and some more impact...look for May n the draft 10 more + coming in our fold to compete! Also progress guys from last year.
Slaughter, Cooper, Lil Bryant, Mingo, McFadden??? What is his name our 3rd round CB. All these guys were depth last season that should get better and contribute. Gipson and Skrine should continue to get better.
jmho - Now its time to upgrade and develop through the draft.
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

jc #AzCardinals have released LB Dontay Moch. https://twitter.com/Cardschatter/status/444218836699873280Man, I've always been a sucker when it comes to this guy and I remember a couple of other's pimping us to draft him and hated it when the Bengals took him. Loved him as a prospect and thought he might be the next Dumervile. Injuries have crippled his career and maybe it's over, but... At this point...he's a smaller speed guy, which apparently Pettine prefers, so why not sign him to a minimum deal and let him compete for Eric Martin's roster spot as the 5th OLB/ST guy. I still think he could surprise. Maybe Dansby puts in a good word for him too Nothing to lose, much to gain with a former high round pick with injury problems. Randy Starks was considered a bust too after his first contract and now he's one of the best interior DL. I say always take a flyer on those guys, they're like spring training camp invites. Every now and then there's a Raburn/Kazmir in there...

There were high hopes in Cincinnati when he was drafted. Unfortunately, banned substances and injuries led to his departure.
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

Man, I didn't think there was any way we would sign both Hawkins and Edelman. They both are slot receivers.

I don't think we are. I think we are just hearing speculation.

Patriots free-agent WR Julian Edelman is scheduled to visit the 49ers on Friday, per source. SF also interested in Giants WR Hakeem Nicks.

I hate the idea that you can't build a champion through free agency. What about Denver and New Orleans?

I think it has to be a mix of free agency and the draft, obviously. Maybe like 70/30. I think free agency is best when it is used to fill holes making those holes less of a priority in the draft.
For example, if we sign Ben Tate we still might draft a running back. But it is just not as pressing an issue. Most mock drafts had us taking Carlos Hyde in the first round. I bet that changes if we sign Tate. We can now focus on the best player available instead of forcing a pick.

21 of 53 of the Seahawks were originally entered the NFL as undrafted free agents.
that throws a lot of things out of whack lol
Besides the 21 undrafted guys, there are 16 players who originally were drafted after the third round. That means nearly 70 percent of the players who were on the roster Sunday were taken with what now would be the equivalent of third-day picks or not chosen at all in the draft.

You can build a team a number of different ways if you have a QB.

think there is any truth to Tate going to sign a 5 year deal? I can't see us being crazy enough to sign him to a 5 year deal. I could see a 2 year
people are also saying WIki got updated to have him listed as a C Brown.

If we sign Edelman, then I'd love to have Hawkins as insurance..
Plus running both of them either side inside of Gordon and Little on the outside would be fun...

Agent blasts report of Browner deal in New England
Just as the evening was beginning to slow down, it has picked up. In a big way.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported via Twitter that the Patriots agreed to terms with free-agent cornerback Brandon Browner. Browner’s agent begs to differ. In a very unique way.
“It’s 100 percent untrue,” agent Peter Schaffer told PFT by phone, moments after the report landed on Twitter. “I’ve got four teams to negotiate with. I’ve got irresponsible journalists who don’t check their facts putting this stuff out there, and my phone is blowing up when I’m trying to play hockey.”
Schaffer plays in a recreational hockey league in Denver.
“I’ve got very little patience for irresponsible journalists who put this stuff out and ruin my night,” Schaffer said. “My phone is going nuts. I just wanna play hockey.”
All Browner wants to do is play football. Schaffer has made it clear that Browner has not yet picked a team, in one of the most colorful ways we can recall.
Weird.

On a side note...wonder how long Rapoport will have a job. Hard to believe anything that comes out of his mouth lately.

Rapoport had been pretty dead on. And it's hard to blame him when Browner was calling his teammates and telling them he signed with the Patriots.

Really, this agent is playing hockey during the first week of NFL free agency? I wouldn't leave my work or home office except to go with my client to visit teams.
Time for a new agent.
That said, he is at least partially correct regarding today's reporting.

Yep, clearly. I mean, we have no depth on the defensive line and he didn't tag our center for 10 million in hopes that a team offers him a long term contract we can match or something.
I also don't get why he wanted Tate, I mean, our running game was so good last year.
