No wonder they're interested in Weeden. Confidence booster for the aging pass rusher.

Giants sign Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie

Too bad.

This is a repeat of last year's corner situation.

Although I was pretty sure we wouldn't be able to ink him up, I figured for sure the Jets would have been the team that signed him.

I'm disappointed...sitting on all this cap room and theres a legit #1 corner in his prime and you wait too long to talk to him when CB has been an issue for years here. They dropped the ball on this one...Should have talked to him day 1...we needed a CB more than any other position on the defense. Hope they have a plan or get used to us getting burned all year again. Our front 7 are going to have to be stout this year and get to the QB quick...nothing like last year.

I don't know that to be the case. All I know is that it was just reported that we asked him to come in, it doesn't mean we didn't ask him a week ago? He might have just said no.

You do realize odds are he didn't want to leave NYC. He talked to two teams both in NY. What makes you think it was our fault?

I thought it was his cousin we were showing interest in????

Whats happening there?

We invited Dominique for a visit, but the Giants signed him before he came in. Antonio is the one who Pettine didn't get along with when he was with the Jets.

Hayden's new contract will be massive, a team can only afford one elite corner.

Antonio Cromartie visits Cardinals
by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer

Former Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie is visiting the Cardinals, the New York Daily News reports. Cromartie was cut by the Jets in a cost-cutting move.

Cromartie said earlier in the week that "the door’s still open" for a return to the Jets, but the report suggests he'll wind up elsewhere. Other teams along with the Cardinals are also expected to be interested in Cromartie.

Cromartie had 13 interceptions in four seasons with the Jets.

If it wasn't for the past issue with Pettine, Antonio Cromartie would be a perfect fit for us. We would probably be able to get him on the cheap and he has played in our defense before. Alas, he probably won't go to a place where the head coach is someone he cursed out and tried to fight.

My hope is that we target a CB early in the draft.

It would be hard to keep Haden and pay another starting CB free agent money. If we can draft that #2 CB, he will be locked for 4-5 years on a rookie deal and we should have more space to keep Haden.

We need depth in the secondary, so I'd welcome another cheap deal for a backup CB with experience.

Good for Jason... I was wondering what team was going to give him a one year deal. Now we know. Better hope he doesn't face our 3-4 cause he got hurt often. I think a hit from Phil or Rubin would bring his career to an immediate end

man...if dalton goes one and done in the playoffs again, you gotta think cincy drafts a QB in 2015.

so, Pitt now has Antonio Brown and Wheaton's 6 NFL receptions.

I think if we are targeting a WR with our 2nd 1st round pick, then getting ahead of the Steelers is in order.

Understand what you are saying but if this is suppose to be a deep class and we do not have an URGENT NEED in the position. I don't see us expending draft picks to move up.

True. They are just an obvious team that will be taking a WR and if we have one particular guy in mind, the team we would likely HAVE to jump to be sure to get him.

1st round potential WRs to me:

Watkins (top10)
Evans (top10)
Lee (mid-1st mostly because of his injury history)
Beckham (mid-to-late 1st)
Cooks (late 1st/early 2nd)

I don't think the Steelers are guaranteed to take a running back in round one. They need a bunch of stuff (corner, defensive line, etc.).

Could also pull a Banner in the 4th and/or 5th.

I could also see us using all 10, but I'm greedy

yeah I can see us using all ten. Competition is good even if there is a good chance as we are getting better we will have to release some draft players.

As for using multiple picks to move up. That too can happen very easily - most drafts we target by the round or group 2 rounds we usually would like anywhere from 4-10 players on a board for each round. If we get to the 3rd round and we made our 2 picks and see the #1 3rd rounder still available or somebody we had listed in the 2nd and regard it as a steal even though we didn't take him with our first two third rounders cause we had two rated higher. I can see us trading both 4th rounders to move back into the 3rd...or both 3rd rounders to move back into the late 2nd???

Odds we have 10 and come away with 10 would be very low. Cause usually somewhere along the line something is traded.

Yeah, that's always a possibliity.. Maybe package a few up with a player to get another second Rd pick next year.. (thinking DE here)

I hope they want to use 10 draft picks in a year when they have 10 going into it.
10 picks is about the average that good teams get because of compensatory picks being added.
The league is set up for a winning recipe being, add players, develop those players, and allow those players to leave through free agency giving you compensatory picks.
Like it or not that is what the current system rewards and any NFL team should be trying for that.

The Browns aren't very good at developing, keeping, and later letting go to get compensatory picks, their players. That's partly why the Browns are stuck at the bottom of Niagara Falls spinning around in 4-12 records year after year.

And. Record this. I want Johnny Freaking Manziel at #4 and I don't care about the Red Flags, and I also don't care if he Busts, it's worth the risk!
(After all, it's only 1 first round pick, you get one every year.)
Coulda had Tannehill.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

If the right guys are there I'd do it, but I think I would rather use a couple of picks to move up once or twice, and one to add a pick next year. I wouldn't mind if we added just 6-7 rookies in the draft.

There is something to be said for adding a pick or two next year, as you said, just like Banner and Lombo did last year.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Texans sign Ryan Fitzpatrick

This only confirms what we already know -- Matt Schaub will not be on the Texans next year.

This leads to the next point:

Quote:

General manager Reggie McKenzie has a "really good idea" who his next quarterback will be, but he's not giving away any hints.

NFL Media columnist Michael Silver may have just cracked that code.

The Raiders want Matt Schaub, Silver noted on Thursday. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport previously had reported that the Houston Texans quarterback is on McKenzie's radar.

Schaub is being shopped by the Texans, per Rapoport, but interested teams such as the Raiders, Cleveland Browns and New York Jets are not likely to take action until he's released.

Around The League's Marc Sessler recently sent Schaub to Oakland as one of the best remaining fits in free agency. If Schaub ends up reuniting with offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan in Cleveland, though, McKenzie could turn to Josh Freeman or Mark Sanchez.

We're not sure any of the reclamation projects above will give the Raiders a better chance to win than Terrelle Pryor.

Let them have Schaub. I'll take Hoyer the Destroyer.
