Russia has been in a repression for awhile, but Crimea is worth it. It's their only naval base in the Black Sea. It'd basically be like us giving up Guam (Truthfully I don't know that much about US's most important naval bases, but I'm assuming Guam is extremely important as it was since it was discovered to WW2) or something close to that.

I agree, the Black Sea and access to Mediterranean via Bosporus is the reason they did this. Not sure about the bases, but in terms of logistics I'd compare it to the Suez or Panama Canal. This is an alternate route (to the Baltic) in bypass of the entire continent of Europe.
The US and Russia "fought" over access to the Gulf of Aden and Red Sea. We both put a lot of arms and operatives in the Horn of Africa. Not a coincidence that there has been so much hostility in Somalia since.
