It says you're willing to pounce on anything negative in regards to Bridgewater and ignore anything positive. The game tape doesn't lie. Which is why he was rated the #1 QB in this draft.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I think you missed the post where Bridgewater's agent said he has only worked out for one team.
http://www.thecardinalconnect.com/2014/0...patriots-today/
His agent claimed that he visited several teams but had only a private workout with one.
What does Mortensen have to gain by writing something that his agent could shoot down so easily if what the agent says is true and that Bridgewater has only had a private workout with one team?
Again, I tell you that Bridgewater has had more than one workout but that it wasn't announced publicly.
Now, on the other side of that, what does Bridgewater's agent have to gain by denying the claim made by Mortensen? A lot of money can be made or lost by these reports. If it's untrue, then the agent should threaten lawsuits claiming that Mortensen is willfully trying to hinder his client's future earnings.

No I'm not, I like Teddy, I'll not mind one little bit him ending up here and I don't care where they draft him.. 4th, 26th, or in the bottom of the draft.
But your response says you are willing to pounce on anything and anyone that calls things into question that seem not to add up.
Lots of good film on the kid,, What a college player.. amazing..
But:
Won't work out at the combine
Bad Pro day
Wonderlic at 20
Reports (seem incorrect now) that he's not having good private workouts
No longer the #1 QB (although that's subjective and really means nothing)
The point is, something is up. Not sure what it is and yeah, I'm quesitoning that. You should be too.

Bugs...if Farmer, Kyle and Pettine feel that Teddy is the guy and happy that he dropped to them at #26...Guess what. If they feel he is the guy...We get him at #4...that is what Vers was talking about.
There is no 26....maybe our guy JM will drop to 26, maybe Carr will be there at 26, Maybe we will be lucky and Teddy will drop to 26.
no, no no...I'm telling you with all my no agenda heart. If we love a QB and thinkn he is THE GUY we will not hope he drops to 26 We will take him at #4.
I will like to add one thing. There was not a better QB in the ENTIRE NFL EVER - than guess who...DA with one stipulation... "IN PRACTICE" Remember the PRO-BOWL and Norv wowing about DA from practices....then came the game I remember going in early to the JET game in New Jersey to see the Browns warm up...I wanted to see DA throw. He was amazing in his warmups...Amazing on his 7 on 7 drills...as sson as we went to 11 on 11 drills I'm like HUH....WTF who is this guy and what happened to the guy I've been watching the last half hour???
If a GM saw him during the season :cough: Farmer :cough: and watch his games on film for 2 years or so to see growth. And like him...all this BS with Shorts on and orchestrated stuff will not have him drop on his board unless there is an injury concern or drugs. oh and Wonderlick...Fitzgerald is probably the highest...so what? Marino I think was a 13? you would pass him up. Football intelligence and the speed to process - Teddy is #1. JM is right up there if you ask me.
jmho as always

Do you honestly believe that the GM's, their coaches and their scouts pay any attention to what Chris Mortensen or any of the media write about players in the draft?
Consequently, what is written has zero effect on where they are drafted. =====================================================

Bridgewater will be drafted by a NFL team somewhere in this draft. To what team and where will be determined by many factors. The primary factor will be based upon his ability and a teams perception.
You may not like Bridgewater and that is fine. But running around the internet looking for some negative kernel "written" about him is absurd.
Spend a little more time looking at game film that is where the truth lies.

He has refused to look at actual game footage of Teddy. He already knows that Teddy stinks and is going to be a bust. He doesn't need to watch him. He just knows it.

Ya know, I watched Derek Carr and Bridgewater yesterday on the Gruden Camp.
And I want to like Carr. He is a impressive guy. There is absolutely no question about his ability to throw the ball. He has tremendous arm talent. He sounded great on the white board. Knows the game. Knows coverages. Knows blocking schemes. Shows leadership skills. He looks, acts, and sounds like a great prospect.
But the game tape shows a different guy.
Bridgewater is kind of a smallish quiet type guy. Seems kind of laid back almost shy. Looked average at best at his pro day. Probably does not look very impressive in comparison to some of the others in practice drills.
But when you watch the tape and you see what takes place between the lines when it counts. He is a different animal. He is in total command. Command of the huddle. Commander on the field. He reads defenses. He has mobility. He has vision. He carves up defenses with accuracy and timing.
Carr looks the part. Bridgewater plays the part.

Actually I meant to address that to Anarchy. My bad. It's just so funny that he suggests his agent sue Mortenson. It's funny how we hear all about who we bring in but nobody can confirm anything more than the one work out that his agent stated. Yeah, reporters get sued all the time for false reports prior to the draft. That's the ticket. And actually Damon, if you care to look back, many top QB prospects never threw at the combine. It's nothing new. Yep, he had a bad pro day. Other than that, I've seen no real evidence of anything negative other than the one phantom report of Mortenson.

j/c and not being a smart donkey...
Aren't the things being said about Bridgewater's PLAY the same things that were said about Colt McCoy's PLAY?
Aren't the things being said about Bridgewater's SIZE the same things that were said about Colt McCoy's SIZE?
Didn't McCoy play against much better competition and in more "big" games?
I'm seeing them as the same guy. (Not necessarily saying Bridgewater will have the same career in the NFL.)
FWIW, I'm ok with Bridgewater...just not at #4...none of them at #4 for me.

There's one big difference. Colt McCoy was never considered the best in his draft class, never projected as a first rounder and nowhere closely as projected from either a draft or talent standpoint.

No. Colt McCoy could make a few reads, but focused on quick short throws and couldn't hit any intermediate to long routes. Bridgewater can do all of the throws except the long routes.
Colt is small, Bridgewater is skinny.
They're not close to the same guy at all.

Actually Colt was considered a first rounder, not top 10 but many mocks had him going to Denver in the first. It is why a lot of folks felt he was worth the risk in the 3rd.

That's the big difference in draftnicks and NFL GM's. I thought we had Colt with our first third round pick, but when we passed on him and waited until our second third round pick I felt we lost him. I don't remember seeing Mocks having a first round grade on him, but then again I'm sure there may have been some out there. I'll phrase it differently. Colt wasn't spoken of as one of the top QB prospects in nearly the same fashion Bridgewater has been. But that too is coming from draftnicks. Draft day will actually answer the question on how NFL FO's have him rated. But I'd bet money he won't be on the board in the third and with good reason.

No, but I'm sure they listen less to what a prospect's agent has to say. They're evaluating him on their own and I'm sure that Mortensen isn't just making things up if they could easily be refuted by an unbiased observer.
You simply have to ask yourself: What does Mortensen have to gain from it and what does Bridgewater's agent have to gain from it? What does Mortensen have to lose from wrongful reporting? What does Bridgewater's agent have to gain from it?
It really is that simple.

Nobody. I pointed to a link that stated such. I can point to others as well. Of course, Bridgewater's agent can say anything he likes. That the team's only met with him to talk. Yeah, I'm sure that's what happened. If Bridgewater so unimpressed teams from just talking to him that the teams said, "We won't be needing to go through a workout with you", what does that say?
I don't believe a word from Bridgewater's agent. Not a word. That's not to say that I swallow everything Mortensen is saying, but he's not using a single source as the agent for Bridgewater would have you believe.

I don't like him. I've stated so quite openly for months. I've been told that I'm doing it only for response. I'm not. I didn't think he was very good from the start and nothing has improved my view of him. If anything, it has even been lowered further.
I think that anyone that still thinks that he's any good is simply lying to themselves. They won't admit that they were wrong about him (because they jumped on the bandwagon early) and haven't let go. I have to hand it to them though, the can ride the bull for more than 8 seconds.

If he's saying that the reporting is false, maybe he can prove it. The report by Mortensen is damaging his client.

That's not what I'm saying. An opinion piece on a player is one thing. False reporting that is damaging is something else altogether. You see, a person can make observations about a player or that player's performance. However, if they're claiming to be reporting things as news, citing sources, that is something together different.
Maybe we could get some legal eagles on what is defamation, either libel or slander.

Saying that to Anarchy makes more sense LOL
I know that many QB's skip the combine workout.. By itself, that doesn't bother me even a little. It's when you couple that with the other things floating around,, Then the red flag is out there.
But really, some of what I brought up is kinda not proven to be fact.. we'll just have to see how this shakes out..

Ignore that guy, Pit.
Here is how he formulated his opinion. He found out who was the number one qb prospect earlier this year. He decided he sucked. He didn't watch games. He refused to watch videos that were provided for him. He refused to look at pictures that showed progressions. He is "anarchy." He wants the attention. He then picks up on a few negative snippets and claims he knows what he is talking about. He doesn't have a freaking clue.
Btw--------------comparing Teddy to Colt is stupid. Colt played in a Spread offense. He had one read. Teddy plays in a pro offense and goes through his progressions. Teddy's arm is much stronger. He is way more accurate. It's not even close.

NFL radio had a cool interview this afternoon. It was a guy from one of the stats services the NFL uses. He threw out this interesting tidbit.
They have a stat for passing yards based on the pass itself not counting YAC. For example if a team is at their 20 yard line and the Qb throws an 80 yard TD pass, if it was caught at the 25 he would get credit for 5 yards even though the play went for 80. If the pass was caught at the 50 yard line he would get credit for 30 yards. Make sense?
Guess who the player with the most yards was?
Tom Savage Pitt.
Zac Mettenberger was 2nd Teddy Bridgewater was 3rd
They didn't list any more. Don't know where to find the list. But I found this stat interesting. And much more valuable in my mind than yards per attempt.
Am I perfect? No Am I trying to be a better person? Also no

It's a good thing to take into account, but like any stat it hides something...
What if the QB lead the WR perfectly that ALLOWED him to go for that 80 yards?
Or even the point that if he was off target and that caused the WR to get caught...
I'm not trying to kill your point, because it's a great one, one no one really talks about. But it's another point where stats don't tell the whole story..
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

If we love a QB and thinkn he is THE GUY we will not hope he drops to 26 We will take him at #4.
That is exactly how we must play this.
Don't think for one minute folks that teams like NE and Denver won't be taking Brady and Mannings successor in Round one. San Diego needs Rivers replacement soon also. Pitt, the Jets and Arizona also. We screw around and get cute we're gonna get boned.
The draft is less than 4 weeks away. We already have our Top 2 QB's LOCKED IN. Don't fool yourselves thinking we don't.
We CANNOT HOPE our guy falls to 26. It takes ONE team to like a guy enough to take the plunge even if they sit this guy for a year. With all the rumblings of uncertainty regarding these QB's, we cannot get cute with this. Hell, it's possible ONE team loves Mettenberger and takes him in round one.
The ONLY guy outside of a QB I would even touch at 4 is Watkins. And I'd much rather wait till 35 for a WR the caliber of a Mathews. I'm locked in on Fuller the Corner at 26. Even move up ahead of SD to guarantee him.
NO OL AT 4. LT is the ONLY OL anyone should even be sniffing that high and we have ours. Clowney's attitude sucks and he's a pure 4-3 End. Mack is my biggest boom or bust pick. Coming from Buffalo I see this kid being overwhelmed in the NFL.
QB or Watkins at 4. IF we like 2 or 3 of the Top QB's in Teddy/Bortles/Manziel/Carr. We MIGHT be able to sell Watkins to Tampa at 7 for their 2nd rounder. Then we best pull the trigger at 7. And quite frankly it's STUPID to risk losing your QB by dropping 3 lousy spots.

I appreciate the differences that you and others pointed out. I Iearned a few things. But the following comparison is far from stupid:
Are they BOTH undersized?
Did they BOTH play against lesser competition/defenses?
I like(d) both QBs...just not in the 1st round and certainly not #4 overall.
Little guys better be "special"...really "special". The only little guy I see as "special" is JFF and I don't want that kind of boom/bust at #4 overall.
We've reached for QBs since the return...and it has never worked. They need to get it right...everyone knows that. However, there are 6-8 guys in this draft who could be "the guy"...and/or they could all be career backups at best...who knows?
For me there are too many warts on all the "top" QBs to risk taking the wrong wart that high. I want the BPA and I don't care what position he plays.

No stat is the be all tell all. This stat doesn't hide anything. It illuminates a specific point. It does not address other issues. I am sure that they have that stat somewhere. Which would also be a good one to look at and take note of.

Sure I do and I think it's obvious why these sources are unnamed.
Also, those 'false reports' aren't usually about a QB entering the NFL draft which some people have a hard-on for and which could cost their agent and the player a lot of money.
A "false report" stating that the Browns are interested in a certain player isn't detrimental (unless you think that being drafted by the Browns is detrimental) to a player's ability to make a living. A "false report" saying that a certain player is performing badly before he has been drafted is cause for a lawsuit.
If all the agent does is come out and say that it isn't true then personally, I have to take the view that it's true.
And, wouldn't it be easy enough, if the player has worked out for just one team to get someone from that team to say something in defense of the agent? If not, then you know why the sources are unnamed. Teams don't want to tip their hands either way, in favor or not against a player.

I don't think Teddy is small. He is 6'2." Same as Aaron Rodgers.
Teddy is special. He's special because of his experience in a pro system where he has been reading defenses and coverages for years.
He is one of the most football intelligent QBs to come out in years. He has been compared favorably to P. Manning and Rodgers in that regard.
His arm is much stronger than Colt's.
He is way more disciplined in the pocket. He doesn't bail out at the first hint of trouble. He will stand in the face of the rush and take a shot.
He looks off the safety. Colt did not.
I don't think they are similar at all, other than they don't have prototypical size. If that is our criteria, we should have just kept Weeden.
I think we have reached on QBs like Weeden and BQ only after we took flyers on guys Frye and Colt. We passed on guys like Big Ben and Rodgers. There are good QBs in this draft. We have the fourth pick and extra picks in this draft.
Too much nonsensical evaluations occur after they stop playing. That's why guys like Rodgers fall and Weeden rise. Let's not make those same mistakes again.

Brandon Weeden was more like Colt McCoy than Bridgewater.

Yeah, I don't get the Colt McCoy comparison, either. Colt had much better arm strength. *I'm kidding, but I'm sure Vers will come in here to tell me I "don't have a freaking clue"

"Uh huh. You're observant. Gotcha. The tape shows it all." =====================================================
Not only am I observant but I am also informed. You see when I state an opinion I like to back it up with information to prove the point. I look at what the player did on the field, during a game, against competition. That kind of illustrates the point.
Your opinion is of course - yours. But then again your opinion doesn't quite hold water when it appears it is based upon very little. As most of the posters on this board have concluded.
But by all means please continue to show your true colors.
I sure hope my boyfriend becomes a Cleveland Brown.

I'm sure you can pinpoint some similarities and come up with that assumption...but it would simply be wrong.
Playaction. Rhythm w/drops Progression reads Footwork Accuracy on a full arsenal of throws Pocket passer
So so different from Colt and anyone who mentions Teddy is a 4th round QB (not you) is screaming out to all these dawgs..."I KNOW SQUAT ABOUT QB PLAY" and that you can take to the bank You can not like the guy its a free country, you can hope we don't take him its a free country but to claim he's a 4th round caliber QB is just ridiculous.
Jmho but more fact than opinion

I agree. I'd bet the lowest he is on any pro board is 2nd round...and early. And that is probably a stretch.
He might not be on some final draft boards simply because those teams aren't looking to draft a QB.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

Teddy in the 4th round is absurd. Teddy at #26 would be an utter steal. I'm talking about taking all the gold in Fort Knox type theft.
IMO, despite all these "reports" and new mock drafts which are indicating he's dropping a lot (hey, media writers need to change up their drafts, blah blah and etc otherwise they won't generate page clicks) - it'll be a stretch to think we'll be able to get Teddy at #4.

And you hit the nail on the head. For those who have actually studied the QB's play, it's not really an issue.
The media has a job to do which is ratings, site hits and notoriety. Their mocks change sometimes weekly. If they didn't change, who would keep coming back to look at them? That's how the media works, not the NFL.
And reporters saying things, making reports that often turn out to be false, in no way impacts how NFL GM's have their big boards set.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I'd consider Teddy at 26.
I'd take him at 35, if we haven't taken another QB.
He won't last that long, but he's a late 1st, early 2nd round talent in my opinion.

I can live with that opinion...I don't agree but I can see a dawg thinking that way.
