Heard it has Rock people in it. I'm good. I would perfer my biblical movies to actually reflect actual biblical stories not just be "loosely based on"

The clip has nothing to do with Noah movie starring Russell Crowe.
It's a documentary put out by "Living Waters". I thought the video made some excellent points, so I thought I would post it.
It deals with the subject of the biblical Noah, but also many related issues.

You wouldn't want to ruin the realism of a story in which a man loads two of every animal onto a boat to save them from a global flood.

A global flood is entirely plausible if a comet/asteroid hits the sea.

Did you watch the video I posted a link to?
A Global flood is a lot more believable than the silly theory proposed as an alternative view to God creating ocean life at 16 minutes into the video.

Not only that, but a global flood is easier to believe than what atheists ask us to swallow.
If a person believes in God, the flood account is not hard to believe.
Some would rather believe things like the theory proposed at 16 minutes into the video.
Anyways, Ray Comfort addresses many of the skeptics objections in the video...

What do you find hard to believe about the animal part? Genesis 6:19- 19 You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. 20 Two of every kind of bird, of every of animal and of kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive. Kind- http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=H4327&t=KJVGroups of living organisms belong in the same created "kind" if they have descended from the same ancestral gene pool. This does not preclude new species because this represents a partitioning of the original gene pool. Information is lost or conserved—not gained. A new species could arise when a population is isolated and inbreeding occurs. By this definition a new species is not a new "kind" but a further partitioning of an existing "kind".

sorry, but the story is far fetched. i believe the great flood part, even the boat part. hell, i can get behind them bringing cattle and such.
but 2 kinds of every animal? stop it.

That part is also plausible. Obviously it isn't possible to collect animals that don't live there locally, or not transported by trade. But as flood waters rise, animals will seek the high ground. If the Ark is built on the high ground, the animals would come to them. Makes logical sense. Collect two of everything that arrives.

Methinks the Genesis quotes refers to local flora and fawna. Animals of the Americas wouldn't be fleeing to another continent to escape the flood.

and i can see that. hey, grab some deer, cattle, birds, local area stuff. sure.
but people go overboard when it comes to be tigers, lions, elephants....on one boat...for how many days?
yea..somebody would've been dinner.

I love that we're actually debating the possibility of Noah's Ark. After this, we should hash out a dialogue on the plausibility of a pumpkin being turned into a stagecoach.

2 of every kind. Did you read the definition of the Hebrew word for "kind" I posted.
You don't think Noah built different compartments in the ark to seperate the carnivores from the herbivores? Or did you know that the ark was three stories hight?

How do you know that?
Genesis 10:25- And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother's name was Joktan.
So when did science figure out what Moses already knew?

you guys are reaching.
first off, remember: we didn't even know there were other continents, everybody thought the earth was flat.
that alone kills that passage in the bible.

The Bible nowhere says that the earth was flat. It does say that the earth was divided IF there were no people around when the earth was divided, how did Moses know when he wrote that?
What does people's false idea that the world was flat have to do with the Bible? The Bible doesnt teach that the world was flat. A lot of people in science and theology come to wrong conclusions based on faulty observation (science) and faulty interpretation (theology), but that has no bearing on whether the Bible is true or not. It just proves that sometimes people interpret the Bible wrong (and scientific observations) wrong..

With a lot of doubt anything is possible, like everything originating from nothing, life spawnng on earth via comets, things like DNA happening by accident and chance, etc, etc, etc.

Don't be so sure of that. If you read Ezekiel, he talks about being taken above the earth and seeing it from above. He would have obviously seen it was round.

no, that means because people thought the earth was flat, the stories told have a limited geographical reach.
for instance, noah's ark. the only animals that can be realistically part of the story is the animals within a distance limit to the actual boat. 3 stories high? theres enough species of lizards alone to fill that boat. probably in africa by itself.
what about the species from north and south america, or australia? what about the polar bears up north? did people in the geographical region(what, modern day turkey or iran) even knew what those were?
you aren't even taking into account the straight up hostile nature of said species.
sorry but, while i love the bible, there's a real problem in religions all over the world of taking religious books as the law, which is what A LOT of bible thumpers do. the message the bible sends is great, but the stories, half of them are fair tales at best.

One land mass and seperate compartments for the various animals on the ark.
Do you think that this all would be impossible for God to pull off? Is that why you don't believe in the flood account?
It all boils down to
a. Do I believe in God. b. Do I believe that God is able to do what Genesis 6-9 say He did?
I actually dare to believe that Jesus turned water into wine. It defies science, but it does not defy God.
...and don't forget, it does not say 2 of every animal. It says 2 of every kind. I posted the definition of kind earlier.

The flood was a massive cataclysm, not just a torrent of rain. "the fountains of the deep were broken up..."
Quote:
If continental separation did occur, the only place within the Bible framework where it could fit would be during Noah's Flood. The cause of Noah's Flood is described in tectonic terms: "all the fountains of the great deep broken up" (Genesis 7:11). The Hebrew word for "broken up" is baga and is used in other Old Testament passages (Zechariah 14:4; Numbers 16:31) to refer to the geologic phenomena of faulting. The mechanism for retreat of the Flood waters is also associated with tectonics. Psalm 104:6,7 describes the abating of the waters which stood above the mountains; the eighth verse properly translated says, "The mountains rose up; the valleys sank down." It is interesting to note that the "mountains of Ararat" (Genesis 8:4), the resting place of the Ark after the 150th day of the Flood, are in a tectonically active region at the junction of three lithospheric plates.11
If continental separation occurred during Noah's Flood, a host of problems in the tectonic dilemma can be solved. Rapid mid-ocean rifting can explain the large quantity of volcanic rocks on the sea floor. The presence of low density crustal rock down to a depth of 700 kilometers within the mantle below trenches can be attributed to rapid underthrusting. The cause for the ancient breaking up of continents can be explained easily by the enormous catastrophic forces of Noah's Flood which broke the lithosphere into moving plates which for a short time overcame the viscous drag of the earth's mantle. The amazing similarity of sedimentary Flood layers in the northeastern United States to those of Britain (i.e., Carboniferous coal strata and Devonian red sandstones) and the absence of these in the North Atlantic ocean basin suggests that continental separation occurred toward the end of the Flood.

Thanks for the discussion. Be back tommorow. Shalom.

Honest question about the animals: nothiing says Noah took 2 of every animal we currently know of. The Bible does say 2 of each kind - KIND - were taken. 2 felines, 2 canines, 2 equines, etc.
Is it possible - and I'm just asking, not telling - is it possible that could be the case? Then, is this where evolution came in? Those 2 felines reproduced, etc etc etc........and through evolution we got felines ranging from what we currently call house cats all the way up to lions?
Just a question. Perhaps this is where evolution came from?
But, that also begs the question: what about in breeding - in the animals, as well as humans. That's a tough one for me.
Or maybe it was a flood in that part of the world only? The Bible is the word of God, written by man. We have to remember that. man didn't have the ability to use satellites, cell phones, radar, etc.
I don't have the answers. I know what I believe, and I'm open to new thoughts as well.
Hey, I think it's generally accepted that Jesus wasn't a white guy, isn't it? He more than likely was dark skinned (I don't want to say black, or arabian, etc - but I bet Jesus wasn't my color)
For ME, believing God created us is much easier to believe than some flash bang thing, but that's just me.

First you post that Arch was right by saying the continents were once together to support your position, then I ask you to tell me how and when the separation took place and you link to a site suggesting that maybe it occurred, if it happened.

How? Not even today's scientists can explain it. They have theories. With all the advancements in science, nothing (related to this topic anyway) is proven.
How old is the earth? I've seen on here that either christians or the Bible, don't remember which for sure, put it at about 6000 years old. Science tells us hundreds of millions - if not billions of years old.
When did our year calendar come into play? Wasn't it the Mayans that came up with our current "year"? (again, I don't know for sure)
My point is, there are a gazillion questions (well, maybe just a million) questions that aren't answered even yet, to this day. That doesn't disprove science, that doesn't disprove creation, that just means none of us know for sure.
It's real easy to tear apart the Bible if one is inclined to do that. It's also real easy to tear apart science if one is inclined to do that. What science knows today is so far beyond what they knew 100 years ago, let alone 6000, or 1 billion years ago.

None of us knows, its all conjecture based on what logic we prefer.
Oh and the earth is 4.5 billion years old, give or take a decade or two... I read it on the internet so it much be right.

You missed the point. The site presented a very possible explanation to how it might have happened. It is clear that the account of the flood describes a massive cataclysm that could explain the breaking up of the continents.
Basically, your objections do not make the flood account implausible by any means is all I'm saying.
