Good call. %$@#!
Wedge, just sat there and let him do that. Dude lost his way after the solo shot. You gotta go out there and pull him. Weak.

I called it.
Joe Borowski can rot in hell. I'm so sick of us getting these low-rent players hoping they fit "roles" for us.
Spend money, dammit. This is exactly why I have this love/hate relationship with both these teams.
I'd love to hate the Yankees, but I can't cuz they have a desire to win every year and do what's necessary to contend, while we play "moneyball." I don't care about small market/big market, if you're gonna own a franchise in any sport, you'd better know what you're getting into and you'd better spend the necessary money to bring in a winner.
I love the Tribe, but it tears me up inside knowing they're not gonna play hardball with the big boys . At least the Browns and Cavs put forth the effort...

Boroski stunk it up, but there is no excuse for pitching to the hottest hitter in baseball in that situation with first base open.

First base open in a 1-run game with men on 2nd and 3rd....with the HOTTEST hitter in the bigs up.....and Wedge doesn't just put him on?!?!?!?!?!?! IDIOT! Make Giambi beat you. Why give A-Rod the chance!?!?!?!
This is exactly why I want to fight Wedge.
What a joke! I'm sorry, I need a break from this team.

Yup... 6-run 9th inning... most of 'em with 2-outs. Yeah, it's still early. However, this team is looking an awful lot like last year's team early on... hopefully, they'll turn it around. Wedge is an absolute disaster of a manager. He needs to go (along with Clueless Carl).

Sorry....I still don't understand how you pitch to A-Rod. I don't care if he's 0-4 on the day. He's freaking A-Rod! You know, the guy that has 9 homers this year (now 10). Unreal.

Didn't Giambi already go yard today?
I don't necessarily disagree with you but that is the power of their lineup, they are so deep.
I probably would have walked him too but then again if Giambi had gone yard like I think I remember him going yard, I wouldnt have wanted to face him either.
The truth is that had we walked A-Rod and given up a GS to Giambi, people would be arguing about walking A-rod!
The A-Rod's dong didn't kill us...it was not finishing the game when we had the chance and instead opening the door for him to be at the plate.
As much as I can't stand the Yanks, I am very impressed with what A-Rod is going thus far in the season.

You're right. Anything can be second guessed. I just think you take your chances with the lessor hitter regardless of what he did earlier in the game. A-Rod has been white hot since game 2.....pitch around him and take your chances with Giambi.

Wow. I was listening and with a four run lead and two outs in the ninth, I had to shut it off and I felt pretty confident about it. Then I come back to this. Just wow.... I'm going over the box score, did Posada really reach second on indifference??? How do they not make a throw to 2B with the catcher running?!?!

Wtf is the matter with Wedgie??? Bowroski has nothing and Wedge sits with his thumb up his....nose, and watches him lose another one to the best team money can buy. Can somebody please tell me why we always choke against the Yanks. I have seen maybe 20 to 25 games against the Yanks at the Jake and the old stadium and I can remember only one game the Tribe won that I attended. Cory Snyder got a bloop single in the bottom of the 9th.

I was getting ripped on in another thread (White Sox one) about how we should immediately cut Borowski and Hernandez. Low and behold, Borowski let's up 6 ER. I've also been wanting Wedge fired since day 1. Managers who go by thw book are idiots. As I stated at the beginning of the year- we will finish in 4th place again.

You may have some Alzheimers creeping in there. This one was "relatively" recent - 2004. And darn it was fun to watch a good ole fashioned heinie whoopin at Yankee Stadium.

Guess I don't know much about baseball, but how is not walking Rod going by the book,...?? There is no book for the kind of early season this dude's had, in this situation. Assuming you're gonna leave BomBowski in there to get bombarded, at least take your chances with the "lesser" hitter,.....actually, what the hell is the "book" on pulling this moron after giving up his second hit,...again, gauging what the Yankees can do to you, obviously, with two outs,....there is no book. You walk the guy and take your chances. Goodbye Wedge.

they should see if any of the young arms in the minors has what it takes to be the closer. maybe miller or carmona. a closer is more important than a #2 or #3 starter. heck I'd take a great closer over an ace any day. they have more impact on the game than a guy that pitches once every 5 days. the red sox aren't stupid when they made papplepon closer again.
wedge always lives and dies with his closer. this game reminded me of the reds game last year when wickman blew a 6 run lead.

By the book, he's your closer so you stick with him. If Borowski was pulled everytime he gave up to hits he'd have pitched 1/3 of an inning this year. Wedge, Borowski, Hernandez and Marte should all be released.

I really don't get what people see in Marte......I've seen WAY more out of Garko..Which Garko wasn't even supposed to appear with Indians at all last year! But now, Garko is making a strong case for the everyday 1st Base job. Marte is a stiff. And don't give me this "sophomore slump" crap, look at his average in the majors both years! The guy was supposed to the next Sammy Sosa in the Power Category. But now, it's a friggin miracle when he gets it in the outfield! This guy was so HIGH with potential If you want a guy with potential just look at Delmon Young, That guy is producing for one of the worst teams in Baseball Or even Josh Hamilton for that matter!, But Marte with the best Offense in Baseball bating below .200! Marte is a STIFF

That's my dilemna here, the book is/was BS in this case.
I also believe it shows some deep insight as to how weak pitching in the majors has become over the last 40,....and thusly, why you can't just have 6 runs against the Yankees (or teams like them). You gotta score, and The Tribe offense just isn't producing like it's supposed to (on paper.)

please keep in mind that andy marte has not played two seasons... he's played part of two seasons...
he has 252 total at bats... that's not enough to have any kind of final opinion on a player... and definitely not enough to call him a stiff...

i'm willing to ride him out for the rest of this season... that is, unless the tribe can upgrade the position...
you have to have patience with hitters... the thing that marte has going against him is that his defense hasn't been good... if he can get that going, it'll take some pressure off of him...

May I brag for a minute??? Quote:
Coincedentally, not to predict anything, but Hafner is a streak hitter. Last night he went 2-4 with a HR. It would not surprise me at all to see him hit .450 with 4 HRs in the next 7-10 days.
Since that statement, Hafner is 9-11, 3 R, 4 RBI, 3 BB.

That was a great day but the fact is we have lost something like 18 of the last 20 games there.
