I had a remote start installed in February. Really loved it on those brutal below zero mornings. Its hard enough getting out of the house at 5:45AM without having to sit in an icebox.

Just traded in my 2004 WRX for a brand new 2014 Honda CR-V for my wife last weekend. Now I'm driving her old 2003 CR-V. I have a <2 mile commute to work so I don't really care what I drive at this point in time.
WRX to CR-V, ouch bro... lmao.
Yeah. We would've traded the old CR-V and kept the WRX but it had a leaking head gasket that I didn't feel like paying someone to fix. I can say that I won't miss buying premium gas and getting <20 mpg. And the CR-V will be better for hauling my music gear around.
Now I just have to figure out what to get next...

for my professional days: A 07 Infiniti G35x (very fast) - probably going to trade it in the next year or two because I want a BMW 750 or a Jaguar XFR-S for my redneck days: 87 F350 turbo diesel with a king cab and 8' bed.(can pull a house down) my fiance has: a loaded 2013 Honda accord ex with the v6 (gets the groceries) I kinda feel like it's a nice little mix of everything
Hunter + Dart = This is the way.

Mine is a 6cyl. More than enough power for such a small car. My son drives a '07 Focus. He thinks mine runs like a V8. But he's 25, what does he know about a V8? An old V8 muscle car would have him a ditch 40 yards from the stop sign.
LOL My STE was I think a 2.5 litre V6 and it just didn't seem fast.
the 2.5 was a 4 cylinder - commonly called a Tech 4 if memory serves.
you are correct, the engine in the STE was a 3.1. But still, it was slow.
The 3.1 was actually a pretty damn good engine. It had a lot of torque, and would get you off the line in a hurry. It was a really nice engine, with 24 valves and multi point fuel injection. IIRC, they also added DOHC about that same time. It was also very reliable. It was one of the few things that GM got really right at that point in time.
I'm used to the 6 (3 lit) in my Z now and it would smoke the STE.. I mean by a BUNCH!
My STE was the 85 model year so I don't know if they did anything to tweek it in later models, but mine was SLOW to me..

I just looked, and the 85 6000 STE was still a 2.8 V-6, but it did have multi port fuel injection.

'02 CR-V. Great gigmobile... I can fit the entire quartet plus instruments/music stands if needed.
Years ago, when I was an older teenager, my gigmoble was a '63 Ford Galaxy Stationwagon. It was like a band van in that it held everybody's everything including a PA system and speakers.
Back then I'd sometimes load all the equipment by myself with the strength and energy coming from my passion of wanting to play the gig.
Now, I play bass. Don't gig anymore but play with some old friends most weekends in the basement of one of the houses. I have a GK 200Watt practice amp that weighs only 26 lbs. and an old Kramer bass guitar. I don't even like carrying those out to the car... but I do.

There ya go.. I really thought it was a 2. something engine but I did a quick look and just saw the 3.1.. Anyway, whatever the heck was in there, it was slow.. and yeah, I seem to remember the Multi Port Fuel injection..
It really was a fun car to drive however. The Speedometer was pretty cool for that time, the radio was pretty cool also.
I remember the ride controls that would stiffen the rear end. Made it corner better.
The next car I owned was the Bonneville SSE. Now that right there was a fun car to drive.. I had every option available on that thing.. White with Grey Leather interior, sunroof, Radio controls on the steering wheel (just like the STE) and that thing could really hold the road in bad weather..

I loved the radio controls on the wheel so much that I have them on my current minivan. Actually, it is damn convenient.

I'd likely love it, just wouldn't want to carry it.
Back in the late 80's I used a Yamaha PB1 preamp, a 400 watt Yamaha stereo power amp, an SVT cabinet and another 2 10's in an identical cabinet to the other 4 inside the SVT. Bi-amped the highs to the small cabinet and the lows to the SVT cabinet. Sweet!
Once having the preamp set where I liked it I'd change tones venue to venue by adjusting volumes of the two cabinets.
I loved that rig!
Not to hijack the thread any more than I already have but, what are you using?

I used to get my 8 piece double bass drum set with full Gibralter cage in my '86 mustang, sedan not hatchback, back in the day. Just me and the kit, not an inch of room for anything else. Ah, those were the days.

Anything above getting me there is, to me at least, a waste of money. Of course, i work from home so that mindset would be different otherwise.
I think if I worked from home and my car was simply for "pleasure" I'd have the urge to get something nicer.
I have the opposite mindset of you.
I don't want to buy something nice, just to put 12,000 miles a year on it to commute to work.

I work from home also. That's why I still have the 98 Blazer. I really only use it in the winter time. I use my Z in the summer and it's mostly to visit clients or for pleasure.
If I had to drive everyday to and from work and to clients, I'd have a new car. I'd want something more reliable.

My first vehicle ever was a white 1984 Chevy S-10 rocket of a vehicle with a sunroof and leather seats. This was before I started getting into cars and trying to understand mechanics, so I never knew the exact numbers on it. But, it was RWD, light as heck, chopped, and had a 400hp engine dropped in it. That was my first vehicle, maybe not the greatest idea, but my dad couldn't resist.
That thing absolutely flew. Unfortunately, it always overheated really badly, so we ended up selling it a few months after bringing it home. My second vehicle was a...Dodge Neon. I know, take my man card. There was such a vast difference in the amount of joy between driving that S-10 and the Neon, it was pitiful. I still miss the thrill of driving that S-10 today, 13 or 14 years later.

I likely don't need to tell you this, Lemmy, but you "drive" a 400 horse vehicle whereas you merely "steer" a Neon...
