Yeah, Im not all that worried about either but just throwing it out there...it just seems weird JT not being the most compensated player at the most important position on the line.

However, I should mention that I think certain bonuses may get him over the $8M mark, just not sure if there are other bonuses for Mack (workout bonuses for example) that still give him more money...that's why I kept the comparison at the base salary level.

Quote:

Joe Thomas received a 7 year deal worth $84 million, with $44 million guaranteed. That was in 2011.

He gets a workout bonus of $200K from 2012 to 2018, and also a roster bonus of $1 million from 2016 - 2018.

This season his contract peaks at $10,9 million. He then gets $8.8 million in 2015, (plus the $200K bonus) $8.3 million (plus $1.2 in bonuses) in 2016, and $8.8 million (plus $1.2 million in bonuses) in 2017-2018.

His deal was designed to be front loaded, with $42 million paid in the 1st 3 years. Thomas is 29 now. We will have him through age age 35. (assuming that he is still playing at a level worthy of $10 million in cap cost)

Thank you. I understand all of this as I was also on spotrac moments ago.

At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.
