Wikipedia: An earworm is a catchy piece of music that continually repeats through a person's mind after it is no longer playing.[1] Phrases used to describe an earworm include musical imagery repetition, involuntary musical imagery, and stuck song syndrome.[2][3][4]

The last time I posted this question on the board, Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" was in my head for a good two weeks. (OK...very very bad two weeks). Right now I'm stuck in the 80's. A little snipit of Kim Carn's "Betty Davis Eyes" is stuck in a loop in my mind after I heard it 3 days ago. I have these all the time, but this is one of the bad ones.

So what is your Ear Worm?

Artist: Arctic Monkeys
Song: Do I Wanna Know?

Artist: Florence + the Machine
Song: Girl With One Eye

Artist: Lorde
Song: Glory and Gore

These three songs keep running through my head everyday at different times. These specific worms have been hanging around for over a month. It's madness.

The main baseline in a song called The Grudge on Tool's 2001 album Lateralus. It's a constant, short, quick-paced set of notes that repeats throughout the song, lending many a rough night to those with OCD, hehe.

Hate to admit it, but thanks to my daughters, it's that 'Let it Go' song from Disney's 'Frozen.'

Edit: Looks like I'm not the only one . . .

that is such an underrated record. Saw them back in '02 on tour and they played most of that album.

Well, even if the vocalist tried to hire someone to kill his wife - the music is still brutal and awesome which is the way I like it.

The intro to the song "Through Struggle" from As I Lay Dying is awesome and I often repeat it in my head a lot.

My 6yo daughter watches this every morning at the breakfast table and it's stuck in my head all day.

Good, I'm not the only one either! I saw Honest Trailers did a spoof trailer on the movie, and they redid the song lyrics to ... "Get it out! Get it out! Get this song out of my head!"

I once heard that the best way to get a song out of your head is to whistle the tune to the Andy Griffith Show.

I don't know what you're supposed to do once that's in your head.

I work with a guy who whistles all the time, and apparently his ear worm is "Like a Hurricane" by Neil Young. It wouldn't be so bad, except he jazz-whistles it, like Bing Crosby does in "White Christmas". I feel like saying "Hey Tweety, give it a rest, will ya?" but he's a nice guy, so I don't. But I think it, while the jazz-whistled version of "Like a Hurricane" runs through my head in an endless loop.

I think I need an ear enema.

Many heady songs on that album.

I believe many folks who otherwise wouldn't think to listen to their work would change their tune if they gave some of the slower songs on that disc a chance.

Afterall...that's why the damned song is stuck in my head!

My mind seems to work like a database for all the music I've played over the years. BUT- like all databases, that info is useless- if the system that accesses it is corrupted. I have 'absolute recall' where sound patterns/combinations are concerned.... but I don't always remember who made those sounds. Therein lies the problem.

Sometimes, I only have 5 seconds of music- perfectly preserved- that I can't identify. That snippet will repeat in my head until I can nail down who and what I've been hearing.

It's an ongoing "personal hell" that's been part of my life since I was in my 'teens.

Sometimes, I find the answer within a day or two. Sometimes, it takes longer. Like months. In a couple of cases, it's taken years. I have 'ongoing projects' that won't leave me alone.

I'm just 'OCD' enough to not let it go, until the mystery is solved. I can't help it... I'm hardwired to do this thing.

"Earworms" are demons for me. They torment my waking hours, and keep me from sleep. Right now, I'm plagued with at least 3-4 Classical works, 2-3 Charlie Parker BeBop 'heads,' and a 10-second snippet of a '70's era fusion jam that I know, note-for-note. I think it's Chick Corea, but I have too many 12" LP's to go through, to find "my obsession."

Sometimes, I really love what I do, and who it's made me become. Sometimes, I curse The Process... and My Basic Nature. Can you say: "dual-edged sword?"

"Earworms?"

Call me on any given day- my answer will be totally different, 24 hours from then...

Well .... I got rid of that stupid song that was stuck in my head, but, for some reason, have "Runaround Sue" stuck in my head now.

No idea why. I haven't even heard the song recently that I can think of.

Imagine Dragons "Monster" is a daily listen since I heard it...

Also I got yelled a lot last year on route because I always sing Disney songs, more specifically "A Whole New World"

It's not my fault some people don't have music in their souls...

I like that Pharrel Williams song. But then again, I mostly hear kids songs, so it's nice that it's not by a Disney character. LOL!

Here's another ear worm you'll ALL thank me for:

I have a lot of them! But one that keeps popping up on a regular basis is an old tune that I haven't heard played in a very long time. Good song, but not sure why it keeps popping up!

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
