Hi Dawgs.
I'm going to need a hotel this summer in Cincinnati. I was wondering if I can get advice on which areas are "safer" and which to stay away from.
I am using Travelocity for a hotel lookups. They have a "feature" where you get a huge discount on a hotel, but they won't disclose the name of the hotel until after booking. All I know is that it is in North Cincinnati - West Chester - Sharonville Area. Does anyone have any insight as to how safe this area is?

Sharonville is a nice area.. no real issues there. I will tell you, there is a number of quality hotels in the area, but there is also a number of real doggie motel type places (at least here used to be, I haven't been there for about 5 years or so)

Depends what you are coming down for. West Chester is like 20-25 min from downtown Cincinnati. I wouldn't considerate it Cincinnati at all. Close to kings island though.
Are you with kids? If not stay downtown and go out around hotel. Use hotwire. You'll end up with hyatt or hilton downtown. It's safe enough down there to walk around and have a good time no problem. Maybe hit the new casino. 10x better than the dumpy one in Cleveland unfourtnatly.

West Chester is a very nice area. I live in Mason on the border of West Chester and you couldn't get any safer. Tons of stuff to do as well.

I like to stay in Coveington, in Ky at the Embassy Suites....great view of the city.
A nice room, a nice breakfast included, a few cocktails at night included....a good value IMO

West Chester is one of the nicest suburbs around the Cincinnati area. Watch the cops though, they get so bored due to the lack of crime that they will issue tickets for entertainment. Also make sure you bring your wallet, West Chester does have slightly higher prices than the surrounding areas due to the average resident being slightly better off financially than your average person. It's by no means Beverly Hills, but I would consider it an upper-middle class area. Great movie theatre there and a short distance from Kings Island. It's a great place to stay.

I forget the name, but there is a downtown Cincy hotel with a nice outdoor pool on the 5th floor.
