I admit I was pulling for VY, I always pull for the underdog. But obviously with the additons of Manziel and Shaw there was no room for him here. Im going to guess our depth will be Hoyer, Manziel, Thigpen, Shaw on the ps

My guess is that Thigpen will eventually get released and the team will go with Hoyer, Manziel and Shaw.

I don't see two rookies behind Hoyer. I see Thigpen as it stands on the squad and Shaw being on the practice squad.

Think about it....at some point experience counts for something. While they are riding the bench, would it be better for Manziel to be next to a vet player or another rookie?

Why not? The Redskins did it three drafts ago with RG3 and Cousins. The difference is that the Browns QBs are probably smarter than RG3 and Cousins.

I don't think that it matters. I think it matters that they are next to the QB coach. If they need a veteran presence, they can look to other vet players.

I believe anarchy is right. Hoyer IS the vet. Some team would grab Shaw off of our PS, therefore he stays...

That's exactly what I think would happen and I don't think that this front office is silly enough to let that happen.

Was it a smoke screen showing Farmer going with Hoyer?

I read Thigpen clearly looked the better.

Are you finally calmed down about the signing of him only to show that Farmer cut him?

And that's all it ever was I'm sure.

Young didn't start out as a bust. He demonstrated skills early. But tailed off. Taking a look at a guy doesn't hurt anything.

Glad the experiment or look/see or whatever is done with VY. Just feeling more relieved than I can explain. Is Thigpen next to go?

Thigpen might well be our 3rd string guy this fall.

Me too.. I think the season starts Hoyer, Manziel, Shaw, in that order. We could have all 3 of the shortest QBs in the league.

Although I like Thigpen, I think he is the next one out. He isn't nearly as young as Manziel or Shaw and both of them will probably make the roster.

I don't know that the Browns necessarily want all young QBs. If Manziel makes the team, as seems almost certain. then I think that we keep 2 veterans.

I think they keep the three best guys regardless of age. If Shaw is better than Thigpen he stays. You can't risk cutting him and hoping he makes it to the practice squad.

I don't think they'll keep two veterans unless they keep 4 QBs. After last season, 3 weren't enough. When Hoyer went down, the options became Weeden or Campbell. They may want the 4th QB already on the roster.

That's pretty funny.

It's not often that a guy can get a "try out" thread started in his name, get signed, and get cut all in the same thread.

Figured Thigpen would have been the one getting axed. Poor Vince, looks like he'll just have to hang it up and call it a career in terms of the NFL it seems...
