Roby to DEN

last pick of the night... will we trade up?

I might have been tempted to take him if he had fallen to the 35th pick. He did have a great 2012, before slipping in 2013, and he has nice size and speed for the position.

Exactly. It was also widely reported that the Browns really liked Manziel, but that they didn't rate him as a top 10 pick. Haslem loved him of course but defered to his scouts........everybody wins. Ray and MP get the guy they wanted (and a potential high 1st next year to boot) and get the QB both they and Haslem wanted for the value they wanted to pay.

That's hilarious. Sal Paolantonio on ESPN just said that a homeless guy told Haslam to draft Johnny Football, so he did. LOL That's just about what I thought.

Haslam is a businessman, first and foremost, I think this is his pick. He knew Johnny would fill seats and all of us into football would be watching.

So Johnny will fill seats if he's not playing?

So are we gonna be faced with "Johnny, Johnny" chants every time Hoyer makes a bad play? Damn, every QB in the league makes a bad play too, but will they have to endure the chants for the backup like we will?

I think the pick was a mistake....time will tell.

Johnny has to start. We should be on the phone tonight trying to move Hoyer. It would be stupid to draft JFF and then start Hoyer for the reasons you mention. We've seen that before with DA/Quinn. If we start Hoyer and he goes 9-7 or 10-6 this year.... then what? Johnny sits again? Means we WASTED a pick that COULD have been a player that could HELP us. JFF sitting on the bench doesn't score us any points, doesn't gain us any yards and doesn't stop the other guy from scoring.
Damn i don't want another QB controversy in this town. If Johnny is the man, then dump Hoyer and get Johnny out on the field. Live with the growing pains and get him up to speed ASAP.

Maybe Lee.

I don't think that he'll get past the Hawks if they pick. (or if they trade down a spot or 2)

That presupposes Farmer will BE here next year.... With this team that's very far from a certainty. If JFF goes out and gets killed game one against the Steelers Farmer may not survive for week 2.... I don't see Haslam as a patient owner.

I don't like the Manziel pick, but I'll say this: If Manziel is on the field week one over Hoyer, Young or even Thigpen we're in serious trouble. My main knock on this guy after his swelled head was his size.

Definitely happy with the Gilbert pick though.

Then root for him to lose, and hope Hoyer gets it done.I hope he kick ass, cause I'm tired of being a s**t team with a s**t offense.

I can just imagine Manziel running around like a madman, dodging tackles, looking for a receiver who is open to throw to and he throws it to Little. And Little drops it.

If we draft another WR, Little may not make this team.

We added Hawkins and Burleson. Add a guy like Lee on top of that and Little's days could be numbered.

Let's hope so. I see Little as Braylon Edward's II, and he's not even that good..... But just as bad.

I would have cut Little already and taken Watkins myself, but we got a good CB and maybe a QB.

Little is no way Edwards. Not even close. Little busts his ass in practices, in the film room, and works as hard on his body and skills as anyone on the Browns. He just simply has issues catching the ball.

I wish that we would look at him as a TE. I think he could excel there.

Considering we traded down then up twice already I won't be surprised if a lot of teams call us tomorrow...and we trade down...But very good talent is still there for our picking

Lee should be there when we pick tomorrow if we want him... unless someone trades in front of us... I think Houston has to take a QB and I don't think Washington will go for a WR.

Yep. As much as I want another CB to finish the back end of the defense, if we could get Lee, I would be thrilled with this draft. That would give us 2 impact starters, and a QB to develop.

Lose? No. Sit till he's genuinely ready? Yes. Let's face it. He's no Andrew Luck, so he's not going to be up to speed this year.

How many times have we said 'the speed of the game' when talking about rookies? No one on earth can count that high.

WE DON'T NEED A QB BEFORE WE GET A LINE THAT CAN PROTECT HIM
my two cents...

Yeah, an extra 1st and an extra 4th. Wow. if someone had told me that we would get Manziel and Gilbert, PLUS a 1st and 4th next year ...... all for the cost of a 3rd and a 5th ...... man, Farmer did a really nice job so far.

Obviously we don't know how these guys will ultimately turn out, but he sure appears to have hit the marks so far.

I still would rather have Watkins, but I'm glad they got a 1st and 4th for next year to work with.Pretty aggressive moves by Ray,and i can't wait to see what he does tomorrow.

Browns remaining picks in this draft: (right now)

2nd: 35
3rd: 71
4th: 106, 127
5th: None
6th: 180
7th: 218

We can still make some serious noise here.

No thanks on Latimer. Jordan Matthews would be my preference, followed by Lee if we go WR. Other guys of note:

Xavier Su'a-Filo
Cyrus Kouandjio
David Yankey
Terrence Brooks

Not that I want DL, but I could see the brass having an interest in either of these two guys...

Lee, Van Noy, Matthews

Those are the guys I want though I also like Bitonio, Sua-Filo too (just think we can get decent OG later).
