I think he did.
Ray Farmer was nuts about Bridgewater to the point of being in love with the guy and wasn't afraid to admit it...I also believe Farmer didn't think Bridgewater would be on the board in the 20's
when he was Farmer traded up to take him, and I fully believe Haslam ran him over taking Manziel instead.
what exactly is Farmer to say? Throw his boss under the bus to the media and tell them he was overruled? I don't think so..Farmer wants to keep his job and his paycheck so he will be quiet about it.
Employees get over-ruled in the workplace everyday, its not a big deal, you just move one...Football is like any other business...Haslam is the boss and if he thought Manziel was a better choice then you listen to the boss.
If your boss"suggests" that you do something (gives you input) and you don't do what the boss suggests...see how long you have a job...Haslam signs the paychecks...when he makes a "suggestion" he is doing what any other boss worth his/her salt is doing...is telling you to do something.
Farmer was overruled plain and simple...however this is NOT a big deal..you win some and you lose some...I think the rest of the draft picks were all Farmer though....Manziel was a pick to fill seats and sell tickets and that has Haslam's signature all over it....in terms of talent..I think Bridgewater is the "safer pick" for a QB, will probably have a better chance of working out, but he isn't the flashy pick JFB is...it is what it is...no big deal.

You have an obvious fascination to spin this.
Who told Farmer to move up and get Manziel?
Yes it was said he was "rated high on their board". It was said that he was the top rated QB on their board. But that doesn't change anything about who made the call to move up from 26 to 22 to pick Manziel. That was Haslam's call.

I disagree with my boss several times a week, and I disagree with the owner of our company all the time, and I am not shy about telling them when they are wrong, and I have been employed where I am longer than anybody else there. I am still there because I am the top producer in our organization.
I AM ALWAYS RIGHT... except when I am wrong.

Let's face it though GM, when the owner of your company tells you to make a move, you make it.
And I think people are getting the wrong idea of what I'm saying here. I'm not saying that Farmer didn't want Manziel. I'm not saying that Farmer didn't believe it was a good idea to move up and get Manziel. I'm not saying that Manziel won't end up being a great QB.
All I'm saying is those that bought into the idea that Haslam would be totally hands off in the draft and that Farmer would make all of the calls were wrong. Haslam did have input. He did make the call on moving up to get Manziel.
I also believe when you write all of the checks, that's well within your right to do. But the fact is, no matter those that said Haslam would be hands off, that was most certainly not the case.
I don't know how hands on he will be going forward concerning the draft. But people can quit pretending or spinning it that he won't have his input and the as the owner, he doesn't have final say, because he certainly does.

Exactly ... not to mention, it sort of blows a hole into the original story of "We had Bridgewater on the card and then changed it". So what was it?
Which bring me to the point I made earlier, if anyone paid any attention to it, that I think all these stories, as differing as they are, are meant to deflect from talking about Johnny.
Notice how all the talk, not only on here but in the media as well, is about Haslem, the FO, Petine, the QB coach and all the comments they've made. None of it is about Johnny Football.
It's talk all around Johnny Football regarding the team, how they are handling him, how they came to draft him, etc.
I really can't help but think this is the team's early method of handling the circus by diverting all the attention onto something else... "Looketh over there. HA! Madest thou look."
We're all falling for it including the media.
There is a circus. But the circus ain't Johnny and it almost seems to me that nobody is noticing that. Perfect!
I'm certain they don't want a "Johnny Mania" on their hands any more than they have to. And they will have to. I think they're doing this before Mini-Camp starts and for Mini-Camp they're limiting media exposure. To that point they have it handled. Once Training Camp starts it's going to be a lot harder but from now until then they can further develop their plan.

what you are neglecting to see is they already tried to trade up TWICE. If you had listened to the interview they had Johnny #1 qb on their board. They knew they had to jump KC at 23. when everything went down they did that... and by the way I didn't want Johnny I wanted Jimmy G.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

Pit, listen to the audio, if you still feel the same way, fine, but at least listen to the audio I posted.
In it, the QB Coach CLEARLY makes the statement that Manziel was going to be the pick BEFORE haslam made that comment.. That's what the guy is saying if you LISTEN to the audio
But hey, if you don't want to listen, ok, just don't come down on me for it.
