Yes I did. they liked Manziel. He was rated "highly" on their board. Once Haslam was told about Johnny's text he said "That's it, move up and get him".

We had the #26 pick and Haslam told them to make the move up to get Johnny. What about that are you missing?

Then it's not a big deal, if they were going to take him, what's the difference..

Anyway, I didn't take it the way you did.. I have my view, you have yours..

we don't agree

I'm curious, if you were Haslam at that point, would you have said do it?

No, I wouldn't have. But I don't have a problem with the fact he did. Johnny Football would have been my second choice of the QB's left on the board.

I certainly support the kid and hope for nothing but the very best for both him, the team and us as fans.

Guess what. If the Browns want to make the playoffs in 2014 then they probably have to beat the AFC North. Well we get two shots at that in the first three weeks. Why not use the off season to game plan for three teams and beat some of them. Instead of coddling a Faberge egg.

Couldn't agree more. If we want to even sniff the playoffs we'll have to take the season series against 2 of our 3 divisional opponents.

When the long road to the draft began I felt Bridgewater was the best option for us. Then I watched his pro day and wondered how a guy could be that bad on a day where he controlled all the variables. I didn't like the answer.

So when the Browns selected JFF I felt like it was the best pick they could make. Manziel may have the highest bust potential of any of this year's QB crop if you believe his detractors. But he also has the highest ceiling of any of those guys as well. Boom or Bust may be his unofficial motto for now. But after watching him play in college and listening to him since then I think the Boom part is MUCH more likely. I think he'll start on Day One or very close to it and we won't look back. Or want to.

I thought this was interesting. Dowell Loggains said in a recent interview that Manziel sent him a text during the draft as he was sliding to come up and get him. Loggains showed text to Pettine and Haslam and the move was made.

The audio link is attached in the article.

And if you go to the main site and listen to Pettine when he was asked for a comment on this topic,, you'll find that it wasn't what some think it was.. It was really nothing at all..

You know, I kind of like how transparent Pettine is in his talks. When he doesn't want to talk about a topic, he doesn't dance around it. He flat out says he won't comment on it. When you don't think he'll comment on something, he does and does it openly.

I respect that, big time. JMO

You're right Damon, it never happened. Our QB coach didn't say this and it never happened.

"When I got that text, I forwarded it to the owner and to the head coach (Mike Pettine),'' Loggains said Thursday on Sports Talk with Bo Mattingly on Arkansas ESPN. "I'm like 'this guy wants to be here. He wants to be part of it.' As soon as that happened, Mr. Haslam said, 'pull the trigger. We're trading up to go get this guy.'''

It's all a figment of my imagination.

Don't see anyone denying it happened.. just that some ( me) don't hold to the view that Haslam saw the text and slammed his fist down demanding a trade up for JM over ruling everybody else in the room.

This was not some draconian decision that was made in the heat of the moment.

Me, I see a war room with everybody on the same page with wanting to get JM, deals almost struck and backed out of, as they played their cards in the hopes of getting their man at their price, Knowing that the less distance they had to move up the lower the compensation.

They also knew other teams were the mix, KC at 23 being in their minds a given to take JM, ( no I have no concrete proof), so 22 was as long as they could wait. Instead of paying a higher ransom at 11 or 16 they held on until the last, outbid Minnesota and took their man. not just Haslams man; their man.

Its almost like some would believe the card with Bridgewater's name on it was on its way when Haslam ran down the aisle, tackling the guy and while they were falling he tossed a new card with JM's name on it to the podium.

Actually in the Manziel video on the Browns site. He went through the process saying that Loggains was somebody that was communicating with him and it was around pick 20 where he told Manziel to hang in there that we tried to move up twice already and couldn't do so to pick him...personally a BIG MOUTH...lol Then it was Manziel who tweeted back - you better hurry up and move up to get me...cause he was getting info on a couple teams that were talking to his agent.

That is when Loggins and Messina text Pettine and Haslam that Manziel said hurry up and move up and get him. Maybe putting a LETS GET IT DONE NOW tude from the owner. As the "FACTS" come out it is nowhere close to being Haslam overiding anyone just how the circumstances flowed that day.

Go look/listen to that Manziel video then make up your mind...I know its only the guy involved we rather listen to BOZOS who take things out of context and make up stories..those are to be believed...lol

LOL. Good stuff. I don't get what Pit is driving at. So what if Haslam said what he said? Where's the proof that Haslam wasn't saying what they were all thinking anyway? Where's the evidence that these guys were not on the same page? You've got nothing Pit.

You see, I never indicated it was some demand of Haslam. In the discussion of the interview, it was stated they made an attempt to move up to 13. But was that a move to draft Manziel? Nobody said. There was also a mention of another trade up that failed. Nobody stated that was to get Manziel either.

It was stated that Manziel was the highest rated QB on their board. It was said that they had Manzile rated high on their board.

The only thing I've stated all along is that Haslam made the call for them to go from #26 to #22 to draft Manziel.

Nothing more or nothing less. And according to the QB coach, and without any other quotes to the contrary from our coaching staff or FO, that is what happened.

If you look at the quotes from the QB coach and what it is I'm actually saying, I've got the only thing of any substance to base what I'm saying on.

Other than a bunch of questions and theories.

Then you should have seen where they were sure they had to jump KC at 23.
