Bosh is going to opt out. Wade is the question mark.
The Heat likely have a side deal with Haslem to pay him in a front office position when he retires.

I think (not sure) the next two years are both options, so he could opt out next year if he wanted to again. As far as I know, the contracts in the NBA are guaranteed, so he cannot "rework" his deal like in the NFL, without opting out of his current contract first. At any rate, if he was planning on "reworking" a deal in the first place, then he would opt out.
I really can't see any way he would opt in this year, then opt out next year. This year is the year to make a move to keep the team together. Next year would be slamming the barn door shut after the cows have all run off.
I also found out something really interesting about the minor trade we made yesterday with Gee going and Haywood and Powell arriving.
Evidently Haywood has a $10.5 non guaranteed contract for next season. (only $2.2 million this year) That could be a huge trade asset ..... because we could take on a big salary without having to send salary back.

Haslem has been taking pay cut after pay cut for them for years. They certainly owe him one.

Haslem has already opted out. Heat’s Udonis Haslem opts out, becomes an unrestricted free agent | ProBasketballTalk http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2...ted-free-agent/

The Heat are known to take care of their own. Alonzo Mourning has a front office position. Juwan Howard too. Haslem will get his.

Well there you go ... chances are everyone's going back to Miami. They just have to figure out how to distribute all their cap room now.

I'm just wondering how though? Guys are going to want big paydays, no? I dunno about Lebron, because his body is still in great shape, but you have to imagine for the rest of these guys and other FA like Melo, this may be their last big contract if they opt for multiple years.
I do agree that it is still likely that these guys all opt back in, I just wonder if Wade who has bragged about Miami's loyalty for years is ready to take a serious pay cut.

Well he just did ... who else is going to give him anywhere close to $20 million a year?

I dunno man, it is the NBA, Wade getting something ridiculous wouldn't be the first time an nba team has made a bad deal, lol.

Pretty stupid idea by these guys if you ask me. Unless Lebron takes a nice paycut himself, what is accomplished.? They save 10 million to go sign Kyle Lowry? That's still not good enough to win long term. If James get his max deal at 26 million, and Bosh and Wade sign for 15 a piece, they still only have 7 million in cap space. I don't even think Lowry would sign for 7 million a year. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I have no idea if this is possible, but it would be hilarious if the Cavs signed James, Wade, and Bosh now.

The max is only like 19...
And the ONLY point of doing this WAS to take less...
Lowry would help them IMO more than Melo would.
But what they REALLY need is a big guy.. I might make a run at Greg Monroe, the only problem is he's an RFA... So you'd HAVE to over pay him...

For Lebron the the heat could offer 5 yrs 130 million. That's 26 million. I agree about Melo, they need a point, but Wade doesn't have much time left, and you will have to find his replacement sometime in the next few years.

NBA Contracts are back loaded a certain percentage, it wouldn't be 26 this year. But then it'd be over 30 in his final few years. Like Kobe's was this year...
Kobe made more this year than the Spurs Big 3 combined..

Gortat.
I think if they brought a bunch of guys like Gortat, Blache, and maybe even Ariza... They would destroy the East.
But no, let's bring in Melo, because if the Finals showed anything, it's that Miami needs an isolation player..

Melo plays hero ball a lot with the Knicks because there aren't many other options. What are they going to do, what for Felton to create a shot for someone? Their offense was basically iso Melo or have J.R. Smith chuck it. When Prigioni is in they can at least attempt some kind of pick and roll game with him and Chandler/Stoudemire.
Melo fit in brilliantly with Team USA and I bet the hope is that he would do the same for the Heat. Either way, the best fit for the Heat would be a player like Gortat. Even a guy like Channing Frye or Spencer Hawes. They can stretch the floor and at least be big enough to clog things up on defense.
If I were the heat I would also take a chance on Emeka Okafor. He didn't play at all last season, but even if he can only be a 15-20 minute player he could be a big help to them.
Pau Gasol is also out there, he was at one time an above-average defender. Jordan Hill could be what Haslem used to be. Getting a guy like Anthony Morrow who can just stand in the corner and drill 3s would be great for them too.
In the end I kind if hope they get Melo. It would be an interesting basketball experiment.

Nobody worth their salt in NBA knowledge is talking about Carmelo Anthony coming here.

Are you discrediting Brian Windhorst and his unnamed sources!
How dare you!
Btw, I think "unnamed sources" is the worst thing in sports media. If you can't tell me who said it, I don't care to know.. for all I know it was the janitor..

No, I am not.
Windhorst never reported that Carmelo Anthony coming to Cleveland is a possibility (as far as I know, anyway).
Rather, what they've reported is that Cleveland is considering taking a shot at it, which I don't doubt for a second.

If they named the source, the source would either be fired or stop sharing information.
By that journalistic logic, you would've dismissed Watergate allegations because you didn't know who Deep Throat was.

I feel terrible for Kyle Anderson. Poor guy is going to a terrible fit for him. He'll be stuck with a team full of low Basketball IQs and selfish ball hogs in San Antonio.
