You make a good point, but we have enough people here we are having a hard time feeding as it is.

1. They didn't steal anything.

2. The 'Native Americans' (or Indians) were savages. If they were taking scalps today, they'd still be called savages and rightly so.

3. In less civilized times on another continent, what is happening at the southern US border would be called barbarian invasion. Quite honestly, I would say that they are acting worse than barbarians.

You really need to live with an indigenous group of people before stating all that you just typed. A fresh set of perspective would totally flip your worldview upside down.

actually the Indians didn't have their land stolen. They sold it for whiskey because they didn't believe a person COULD own the land. Instead men belonged to the land. So they basically thought they were tricking the stupid white man into giving them free whiskey.

Then the murdering and raping from both sides began.

Personally I hope we fight for our land a little better than the Indians did. I mean they lost everything but a few parks and can't even get full citizenship though they are born and raised here for generations but by all means lets have the people here illegally get citizenship first.

You can't fix stupid but you can destroy ignorance. When you destroy ignorance you remove the justifications for evil. If you want to destroy evil then educate our people. Hate is a tool of the stupid to deal with what they can't understand.

Let me get this straight. It's all fine and dandy, our ancestors coming to this country, wiping an indigenous people off the map because they were different. But mexican people peacefully coming to this land ~300 years later is somehow more of a travesty? This argument makes absolutely no sense.

Atrocities were perpetrated on both sides throughout the colonization of the USA by europeans. Both side took hostages, both sides raped and pillaged, but our ancestors won in the end. Everything about this travesty of human interaction was savage, on both sides. You don't get to gloss over it with this bullcrap that our ancestors had an inherent right to defend themselves as they encroached on someone elses land, while simultaneously shouting from the rooftops about the invasion of the "mexican barbarians" and how they have no right to muddy our sacred national waters.

At least the Native Americans attempted to do something about their plight.

I get the connection, but consider the issues to be so different as to make them incomparable.

Human nature leads us to power struggle, fighting, and all the other black marks of our collective human past. The Native American waged war on each other in times of famine. Scalping, due to the shock value of the practice, is completely overblown in hopes of negating all the awful things American settlers caused.

They were just culturally advanced as we were. The Iroquoi beat us to federated representative democracy (they even recevie special recognoitin), virtually all knew how to life off the land four thousands of years, and a few found anesthetics for surgery operations.

Savage? Not really. If they're savage than the Europeans were equally just as savage by their own violent history.

Try living life without your red, white, and blue blinders.

No. I was just appalled by the apparent hypocrisy that was running rampant throughout the thread.

46% Believe Obama Administration Has Encouraged Young Illegal Immigrants To Come

Nearly half of U.S. voters believe the Obama administration has prompted the flood of illegal immigrant children at the border, and most want them sent back home right away.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 46% of Likely U.S. Voters think that the administration, through its statements and policies, has encouraged this wave of illegal immigration. Thirty-one percent (31%) disagree, but 23% more are not sure. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

With all sarcasm aside, is it really that hard to believe? Is it really that unfeasible?

No, no it isn't. It could literally take several years before those people get their day in immigration court. Years.

I'm not trying to be rude, but I just don't see why they weren't immediately sent home. All of them. Mothers, children, mothers with children, all of them. Don't get me wrong, it's NOTHING against the people. I know many of you will twist the comments upward to that level. If all the same people whom I just said to be sent immediately home, would just take the time/etc to migrate over without breaking the rules/exploiting them and do things the legal/right way - then in my eyes they're 100% welcome and entitled to enjoy this country. Otherwise, no breaks are to be spared. We don't spare/give breaks to criminals, but Obama does. Oh and deserters too, he'll give no crap about a true American Marine in Mexico... b/c he's not a traitor or a Muslim. (last statements are just personal opinions on the retard known currently as the President)

Obama thinks he’s doing his job, but he’s not. He’s doing the job of an imperialist monarch, not the president of the United States.

A president of the United States would protect his country’s border by using his ample resources to make sure no one gets across without following the law and that criminals in the country are shipped back, via catapult if necessary.

Instead, our president wants billions of dollars more to “deal” with the crisis by shipping immigrants deeper inside our country before releasing them with a pat on the head, Obama sneakers on their feet and a promise that they’ll show up for a hearing months later.

While citizen protests are building along the border and in towns from Murrieta, California, to Vassar, Michigan, Obama is going around proclaiming that he’s done a great job, but Americans are finally learning better.

I'd counter saying that Obama has deported the most illegals out of any President, but I know most of you would ignore this and still believe that Obama is not doing anything.

The reality of it is, the fact cannot be ignored. They call it smart enforcement I think, where they (for no rhyme or reason) label you a criminal/terrorist and aggressively deport people.

Fact of the matter, if you don't have a card that says you're allowed to be here, you need packup and get the HELL out! Immediately. Don't pass go, don't collect $200 dollars... just get the hell out.

That's a fairly interesting descriptor, given that it doesn't resemble a single President in our history.

That is my understanding of things. They laughed (and accepted) when Europeans offered them anything for a piece of land, because they believed that the land belonged to everyone, and could not be truly sold ... and that the Europeans were the ones who were being foolish and naive.

2 completely different value systems collided, and the Europeans enforced what they saw as a legitimate agreement to purchase the land, which, of course, led to conflict. .

Scalping people wasn't a civilized act. The Indians (no, I won't use the term 'Native Americans' anymore) were the ones taking scalps - long before Europeans ever showed up on these shores.

Any bounties for Indian scalps was an adaptation of the biblical reference of "an eye for an eye, a toot for a tooth."

Yes, they were worse than the European barbarians. The Visigoths and Ostrogoths never took slaves. American Indian tribes did. They took women and children as slaves.

As is his wont, President Obama is treating the border crisis — more than 50,000 unaccompanied children crossing illegally — as a public-relations problem. Where to photo op and where not. He still hasn’t enunciated a policy. He may not even have one.

Will these immigrants be allowed to stay? Seven times was Obama’s homeland-security secretary asked this on Meet the Press. Seven times he danced around the question.
Presidential press secretary Josh Earnest was ostensibly more forthcoming: “It’s unlikely that most of those kids will qualify for humanitarian relief. . . . They will be sent back.” This was characterized in the media as a harder line. Not at all. Yes, those kids who go through the process will likely have no grounds to stay. But most will never go through the process.

These kids are being flown or bused to family members around the country and told to then show up for deportation hearings. Why show up? Why not just stay where they’ll get superior schooling, superior health care, superior everything? As a result, only 3 percent are being repatriated, to cite an internal Border Patrol memo.

Repatriate them? How stone-hearted, you say. After what they’ve been through? To those dismal conditions back home?

By that standard, with a sea of endemic suffering on every continent, we should have no immigration laws. Deny entry to no needy person.

But we do. We must. We choose. And immediate deportation is exactly what happens to illegal immigrants, children or otherwise, from Mexico and Canada. By what moral logic should there be a Central American exception?

There is no logic. Just a quirk of the law — a 2008 law intended to deter sex trafficking. It mandates that Central American kids receive temporary relocation, extensive assistance and elaborate immigration/deportation proceedings, which many simply evade.

This leniency was designed for a small number of sex-trafficked youth. It was never intended for today’s mass migration aimed at establishing a family foothold in America.

Stopping this wave is not complicated. A serious president would go to Congress tomorrow proposing a change in the law, simply mandating that Central American kids get the same treatment as Mexican kids, i.e., be subject to immediate repatriation.

Then do so under the most humane conditions. Buses with every amenity. Kids accompanied by nurses and social workers and interpreters and everything they need on board. But going home.

One thing is certain. When the first convoys begin rolling from town to town across Central America, the influx will stop.

When he began taking heat for his laxness and indecisiveness, Obama said he would seek statutory authority for eliminating the Central American loophole. Yet when he presented his $3.7 billion emergency package on Tuesday, it included no such proposal.

Without that, tens of thousands of kids will stay. Tens of thousands more will come.

Why do they come? The administration pretends it’s because of violence and poverty.

Nonsense. When has there not been violence and poverty in Central America? Yet this wave of children has doubled in size in the past two years and is projected to double again by October. The new variable is Obama’s unilateral (and lawless) June 2012 order essentially legalizing hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants who came here as children.

Message received in Central America. True, this executive order doesn’t apply to those who came after June 15, 2007. But the fact remains that children coming across now are overwhelmingly likely to stay.

Alternatively, Obama blames the crisis on Republicans for failing to pass comprehensive immigration reform.

More nonsense. It’s a total non sequitur. Comprehensive reform would not have prevented the current influx. Indeed, any reform that amnesties 11 million illegal immigrants simply reinforces the message that if you come here illegally, eventually you will be allowed to stay.

It happens that I support immigration reform. I support amnesty. I have since 2006. But only after we secure the border.

Which begins with completing the fencing along the Mexican frontier. Using 2009 Government Accountability Office estimates, that would have cost up to $6.6 billion. Obama will now spend more than half that sum to accommodate a mass migration that would have been prevented by just such a barrier.

But a fence is for the long term. For the immediate crisis, the answer is equally, blindingly clear: Eliminate the Central American exception and enforce the law.

It must happen. The nightmare will continue until it does. The only question is: How long until Obama is forced to do the obvious?

It never ceases to amaze me how so many people will applaud a gay player coming out or say they don't hate African Americans [you know, because it isn't politically correct right now] yet show their true colors time after time after time.

I believe that racism is a sign of ignorance and insecurity in oneself.

Why does that matter? It's like being the tallest midget. It's become the King's newest rallying cry and fits today's society.

I'm trying hard...I'm doing all I can...don't be so hard on me...waaah...well..you know what...you (Obama) aren't competently dealing with the issue at hand. Regardless of what anyone else has done in this/that regard...you are dropping the ball...again.

Who cares what the last guys did? You have a full blown crisis on your hand and you stand by a comment that you are trying hard? Or harder than the last guy?

Pathetic.

No, you're not on ignore. You can be.

But, I would say that you really should know the history of America before accepting claims that Europeans stole anything from anyone.

I recommend that you brush up on some history first. Start with American history and then move to some European history.

Even with the catastrophic mess of the Obama administration ---in all areas of leadership--- the self serving liberals keep crawling out of the woodwork.

“It isn't so much that liberals are ignorant. It's just that they know so many things that aren't so.”

Maybe everyone who doesn't agree with everything GOP hardliners say aren't liberals.

While some seem to claim it doesn't matter what past presidents have done, it's a culmination of past administrations that have lead us to this point. You seem to dismiss the fact that there are immigration courts. That's a process that was set up well before Obama.

Both W and Obama have pushed for expediting and increasing the amount of judges in order to process deportations faster. Obama wants funding to do just that and the GOP is blocking that funding.

You can point to a problem that has taken decades to get to this point and try to lay it on the shoulders of one president because that's what you enjoy doing.

But nothing could be further from the truth. It has been a history of presidents from both parties that have caused and helped create this situation.

Just because some understand that reality, doesn't make anyone a liberal. And rational people see the type of things you post and it makes them want to head in an opposite direction politically.

You do more to hurt your own cause than you even realize by trying to paint everything as one presidents fault. Obama has done more than his fair share of hurting the office of president. If you would actually focus on those mistakes rather than use silly ploys that don't actually apply, maybe you would actually gain some credibility, but I'm not holding my breath.

He must be talking about the conquistadors that ravaged through the Incas, the Aztecs and Mayans, et all. The folks that we hear about now crossing the southern borders took it first from those civilizations.

Not an easy concept for ideologues (of either side) to grasp. Life is too complex and nuanced to be defined by "lazy politics."

There's actually nothing liberal about it. This has been an ongoing problem since before the Reagan administration. In fact, Reagan actually granted amnesty to close to 3 million illegals.

With our economy and job situation in this country, I consider it a very real problem. I saw many Americans lose their jobs to sub contractors in the construction business who hired illegals. No signs on their trucks or names on the uniforms. All of the painters, roofers and drywall people from legitimate companies who hired American workers lost their jobs.

American citizens with children, families and mortgages. All for a fatter profit margin with no thoughts about American families. So I understand the very real ramifications of this issue more than many. And all of this happened before Obama was elected.

Has Obama really done anything to make the problem better? Not that I can see. But he isn't "Delivering" illegals any more than many of our past presidents from both parties. Politicians and their pundits don't really represent any of us. They just tell us what they want us to hear then do what they want to do. It works that way with both parties. There's nothing liberal about that.

Well there is something liberal about this.
Liberal Lawyers Ensuring Illegal Aliens Are Never Deported

WASHINGTON TIMES | On Wednesday, in a move that was missed by most of the mainstream media, a group of so-called “civil lights” lawyers filed a lawsuit in Seattle. The purpose of their suit is to compel the government to assign court-appointed lawyers to every minor illegal alien so they can fight their deportation.

Left-wing groups are moving quickly to make sure those illegals stay and ensure that more come.

This lawsuit will be successful.

How is it possible to see the future? Simple. The left is using a strategy known as “sue and settle.” To put it mildly, it is nefarious.

Liberals have done this with several environmental suits, and now they are going to do this with immigration amnesty.

Providing lawyers for illegal aliens is not a popular idea. It would be dead on arrival in Congress.

But when you have liberal lawyers, who needs Congress?

The fact that there are a group of liberal lawyers that filed a suit in Seattle was never your premise this entire time, up until now. It was not a part of your discussion, your assertions nor in any of your content.

And it has zero to do with the Obama administration. And the source you listed? It's by a person who has opinions just as you and I do. Some of which I agree with.

Flying Illegals Home Would Be 99.5% Cheaper Than Obama’s Plan
Instead of simply driving the illegals to an airport and flying them back to their country, which would cost for one-half of 1 percent of the $3.8 billion Obama wants – Obama wants to house the illegals at a cost of $250 per day per person.

Makes one think he doesn’t want to send them home, doesn’t it?

Most of his proposal is to pay living expenses. At the unofficial reported cost of $250 per person per day, President Barack Obama is proposing we spend $1.8 billion “to provide appropriate care for unaccompanied children.” That works out to 19,726 minors for a year. (The official term for them, written into federal statute, is “undocumented alien children.” Not undocumented immigrants, migrants or refugees. Those other terms are efforts at propaganda.)

In addition, Obama wants another $879 million “for detention and removal of apprehended undocumented adults traveling with children,” and “alternatives to detention programs” for these adults. He blends “removal” with “detention” to make it impossible to determine how many removals are planned.

Yet Reagan gave amnesty to 3 million illegals and I see no outrage from you. Obama has deported more illegals than during the W administration also.

You have some incessant need to try to pin the immigration problem on Obama when everyone knows this has been an ongoing problem for decades.

That's where you lose credibility and why such rhetoric turns off so many moderate voters. The ones you need so badly to win elections for the GOP.

You just keep shooting yourself in the foot with such tactics. But if continuing to lose the White House in elections is your goal, you're doing a fine job securing that continues.

I was a college punk that didn't give a rats butt about anything except where my next beer was coming from and if the hot girl in psychology would go out with me so I wasn't outraged at the time. Same circumstances today I probably would have been against it.. though I will say that he had promises built into his amnesty to secure the border that were never delivered.. makes it just a wee bit easier to swallow but not much.. secure the border first, then decide what to do with those that are here.

Oh I agree with you.

But for one politician to actually believe promises made to them from other politicians?

Even as a college student you knew better than that.

Normally I would agree with you but it was actually written into the bill...
