Really wanted to get a thread going on this.

Would love to hear your guys' favorite beers. Regular stuff, craft, local, etc.

I have really opened up to a bunch of different types of beers over the last few months.

Uncle gave me a box of some incredible stuff 2 months ago.

I know Adam P is like me and a huge fan of the Belgian style, esp. the Quadrupel.

Also didn't realize it, but my same uncle gave me a bottle of Surly Darkness last Christmas. Guess it's incredible stuff, and somewhat tough to find. Still sitting in my fridge.

Well, my first year of college, my favorite was nati ice, seeing as that's the only thing our broke asses could afford, plus the extra cost of paying a guy over 21 to get it for us.

Well, now that those days are over, I have to say my favorite beer has to be hefeweizen. Straight up German. Good god. I mean when I first got to Germany we heard the stories, but when I met my wife (gf at the time) and she introduced me to hefeweizen.....man. It goes down soooo smooth. And gets you so trashed if you're not careful.

Man I miss it

If you guys are ever in Chicago, pick up a bunch of Pipeworks. A bit pricy, but worth it for special occasions. Their IPA's are very good, and everything is fresh with them. They do only bombers, and every bottle is batch #'d.

My personal favorite is Derketo, a belgian style IPA. Really good. You can actually age that thing too.

It's either Bud Ice, Budweiser, or Bud Lite for me. Preferably Bud Ice. I do like some other seasonal stuff like the summer ale's. I will get into a Blue Moon or Corona kick sometimes as' well.

I saw a commercial for Miller lite, it said give us your best Miller time slogan.
And IMMEDIATELY, I thought, "When you reach into the cooler and all the Bud light is gone, It's Miller time."

A thread about Beer? But I don't drink! This thread offends me! You all are jerks for doing things I don't! etc etc, blah blah..

In all seriousness, I enjoy knowing there are people that drink, because they like the taste of a certain brew, as opposed to get "hammered" or whatever the kids call it these days...

I am really good at Beer Pong though.. My brother just drinks for both of us, and he gets better as he gets drunk... perfect...

Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

I have never tried Chimay, but I really want to.

If you like belgian quads, Avery makes a really good one that is much cheaper than the 12-13$ bottles that you'll find, called The Reverend. It is really tasty, and just as strong as the true Belgian stuff. 10% abv

I actually went to a bottle-share with my uncle and his buddies a few months ago. They all bring rare stuff over and just pour out the bottle for everyone. Someone brought a bottle of this beer called Forgotten Island, which is a quad style that is aged in rum barrels, and it was freaking 15% and unbelievably delicious. Apparently it is really hard to get.

Quaffing myself a Yuengling at the moment but I do like some of the good Czech or German brews. I love some Pilsner Urquell when I can get spend for it but they don't have it at BJ Wholesale.

Warka is a nice Polish beer. So is Zwyiec.

It was out earlier in the summer, but not available at the moment that I am aware of, but Great Lakes Chill Wave Double IPA was amazing. I miss it.

Some of my current go to brews are:

Fat Heads-Bumble Berry (great beer and great brewery)
Uinta Hop Nosh IPA
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (everyday brew)
Leinenkugel Summer Shandy (go down easy on warm summer day)

I've really grown to love dark beers over the last several years. Being in Germany is kind of a double edged sword. The beer they have here is great, but little variety on what you can get. To top it off, one of my favorite beers, which is made in Munchen, can't be found anywhere around here. I can get it in France, Belgium, Italy, and even the US. Can't find it anywhere around where I live.

That beer is Aventinus by Schneider Weise. It's a dunkelweisen (my favorite type of german beer) doppelbach (another of my favorite types) so it's 8.2% instead of the usually 5-6% of a normal weisen.

I've grown to love Belgian beers as well. I usually will pick up some Westmalle Dubbels and Quads when I can. There's usually a place on base that will have them as well as a Belgian bar walking distance from my house.

Back in the states, I'm also a big fan of
Rogue Dead Guy Ale
Widmer Bros Hefeweizen
Blue Moon
Moose Drool
Fat Tire

I've come to appreciate craft beers lately. I don't drink them often but for a guy who used to hate beer, I learned that higher ABV tends to produce a substance worth drinking. I'm not a big fan of the taste of IPAs, I like most other stuff that isn't too hoppy.

J/C. I'm either a Coors Light or Keystone Light guy. I've bee drinking the light beers so long now that most non-light beers taste bitter. I will buy a case or two of Landshark in the summer sometimes or a case of regular Coors. I just don't care for the hoppy, bitter taste of the heavy beers.

With respect to beer, I'm spoiled by Portland... We have over 50 breweries in the city, and well over 100 in the state now. Options are pretty much endless. It'd take me too long to go over the list of my favorite local brews. For brews outside of Oregon, some of my faves are:

Russian River Blind Pig. Most of my friends prefer Pliny the Elder, but I think Blind Pig is about perfect. Their Consecration and Supplication sours are wonderful as well.

Stone Brewing "Enjoy By" series. I've only found a couple of these, but they've been spectacular IPAs.

Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout - a classic (their Nut Brown is damn good as well)

Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA

Great Lakes Burning River Pale Ale

If you can find it, give Deschutes Mirror Pond a try. I used to joke that it was the reason I move to Oregon...

My regular beer is Yuengling Lager.

When out in Vegas I drink Old Castle, and in the Bahama's Sands Light and an occasional Kalik Gold

It looks like it is available in Ohio. The search below should show all Cleveland locations for Mirror Pond.

I'm on a red and brown kick right now, so here are some recent favorites for me.

Rogue Hazelnut Brown
Lost Coast Downtown Brown
Green Flash Hop Head Red (not sure how far East these guys distribute)
Dogfishhead Indian Brown Ale

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Friday and Saturday nights it's a 12 pack of Natty Light along with 1 16oz each of Bud Light, Coors Light, and Miller Light. Simple man here too.

I also love a good half n half (Guinness + Harp)

I've seen some fans of belgian tripels and quads in here, a good tripel out of PA is Golden Monkey by Victory Brewing, 9.5%

Man, you really hit home with this thread for me. I'm a huge beer guy.

Best beers I've had:

IPA: Pliny the Younger (Russian River) and Hop-15 (Lost Abbey)
Stout: Founders KBS and Hunahpus Imperial Stout (Brandy Barrel Aged)
Belgian Abbey Style: Westvleteran XII and Trappistes Rochefort 10
Belgian/White: Golden Monkey and Green Flash Grand Cru
Pilsner: Great Lakes The Wright Pils and Victory Prima Pils
Kolsch: Rocky River Brewing Co Coopers and Fathead Jack Straw
Pale Ale: Sweet Water 420 and Three Floyds Zombie Dust
Pumpkin: Cigar City Good Gourd (best by far)
Christmas: Great Lakes and Hoppin Frog
Red Ale: Sam Adams Boston Brick Red (best by far)

I'm sure there's more and my list could change. That's just off the top of my head.

I really wanna try Westvleteren 12. Didn't get to score any when they had that US release. People on craiglist want 500 for a 6, LOL at that.

I do have a bottle of St. Bernardus which is supposed to be similar to W12. I'm just letting that one sit around here.

I ended up with a bottle (the best price I found was $65, so the 500 for 6 isn't too absurd), and a few of us shared it, including a few Belgian beer lovers. None of us thought it was all that great. Good beer yes, but not the best beer we've ever had.

I like the 420 as well.

Right now I am finishing off a oil can of Foster Premium Ale.

Chattanooga Brewing makes a nice IPA I tend to enjoy when at the Farmers Market on Sundays. Another local brewer, Big River, makes a nice Pils.

I forget the name of the Brewer...Mamma's Little Yellow Pils is pretty darn special IMO. Just looked up the brewer...Oskar Blues.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Anyone ever hear of Skullsplitter Scottish Ale? It's a nice amber/red that's 8.5% ABV. It's rather hard to come by.

Utica Club is my favorite cheap beer.

Great Lakes Christmas and Southern Tier Pumking are my 2 favorite seasonals, though Southern Tier 2Xmas is amazing.

EBC (Ellicotville, NY) Blueberry and Voodoo Brewery (Meadville, PA) Cucumber are my favorite craft beers.

Also...I like all beers that aren't light or Budweiser.

My son got me a variety 6 pack from World Market for fathers day, there was a bottle of Skullsplitter in it. It was pretty decent.
