Bennett, Waiters, and Wiggins would work salary wise.
I still have a hard time seeing them giving up Wiggins.
I think that Love can help control his destination through public statements. he has already again said that he would sign long term with the Cavaliers now. I still wonder if the Cavaliers might look at a deal that would being someone else in, and then next year they could sign and trade for Love with that $10 million non guaranteed contract as part of the deal.
How do NBA contracts work? Can they sign Lebron to a lower deal this year, that goes to the max next year, or do they limit the raises? Haywood's deal goes from $2.5 million to $10.,5 million next yera. (non guaranteed)
I am almost positive you cannot backload a contract like that to circumvent the cap.
I think the only options would be to trade now for Love ... or wait for FA next year. Give Minny the option to sign and and trade Love to us for reasonable compensation ... or watch him walk to another team for nothing.

You can't wait. If he is a free agent he can go back to L.A.

The Cavs aren't getting Love without giving up Wiggins.
Then I would wait till next year on Love.
Love can exert considerable power if he comes out and says that the only place he'll now sign long term with is Cleveland. I doubt that he wants to strip his new team of assets, and a public posture can help the Cavaliers a great deal.
so they can not send draft picks for Love?
What about sign and trade does that change anything?
Ido not understand NBA cap so pardon my stupid question

If we had to wait till next year, we could (as things stand right now) trade a player, a 1st round pick or 2, and that $10 million non guaranteed deal to Minnesota for Love quite easily in a sign and trade. The T'Wolves wouldn't have to take back a bunch of stuff they don't want.

They can send draft picks. They also HAVE to do a sign and trade as it's the only way they could get him in under the cap. The only roadblock in Minny. If they wait until next year's free agency, Love can threaten to sign with a team that has the cap room (in which case Minny gets nothing), or Minny can agree to whatever sign-and-trade deal Cleveland offers them, and actually get something in return.

Oh I understand that ...... but I am not willing to give up everything for one player. I think thatv we can get Love at a lesser price, especially if he cooperates. If he publicly says that the only place he'll sign an extension is with the Cavaliers, the Wolves suddenly will find their trade options reduced dramatically.

I wonder .......
If Lebron were to sign for say .... $15 million ..... then the Cavaliers could fit Love in with only trading away (or moving) $8 million or so in contracts.
Probably not very likely at all .... but just saying .......

They are not giving up everything. They would still have LeBron and Irving. And all of the other smaller pieces around those two. LeBron, Irving, and Love gets to the finals this year.

I would do that trade. You could gamble and wait, but another team might trade for him or he just walks and becomes a free agent next summer.. It's a tough call, but I would lean towards trading wiggins..

Not a bad idea, plus it would give us a year to see what we have in Bennett and Wiggins... if Wiggins is good enough, it might not be necessary.

It also gives the T'Wolves the ability to see what else is out there. If you can get Love you do it.

If he's a free agent next year, he's a free agent next year - nobody can prevent that without his blessing.
So.... if he's intrigued about getting traded here and would re-sign long-term to do so, then he would definitely be interested in signing here next year as a free agent.
In his letter, LeBron states very clearly that they're not expecting an immediate turnaround. It will take time. So, we just get KLove next year.

We will have no Center as of right now. We are going to have to address that somehow. Right now we have, as bigs, Andy, (whose health is always a question) Thompson and Bennett.
From Twitter ...... and who knows ......
Keith Britton ‏@KeithBritton86 5m If this is real, get it done! RT @RealGM Broussard: Cavs offer Dion Waiters, Anthony Bennett, first round pick to Wolves for Kevin Love.
I would even go with a 2nd 1st round pick as well.

Exactly ... no need to go all in just yet. It's not like we have to win in 2 years or Lebron and Irving are leaving. Let it play out. In one year Minny is going to be desperate to get something in return for Love, and we'll have a better idea of what we've got in Wiggins, Waiters, Bennett and Thompson.

Same here ... Minny isn't going to get anything better than that. I just don't think their GM will have the beanbags to pull the trigger on that, and give up Love for 3 dimes on the dollar ... even if it means taking a dime for the dollar or less later on.

Didn't the Warrior's offer include multiple draft picks from THIS year? And was also contingent on Love re-signing? ... which I don't think he agreed to.

He'd definitely re-sign to play with Curry in California. It didn't include any picks. The trade fell through because the Warriors didn't want to take back Kevin Martin.

I'm talking about if Love is a free agent. I think the Lakers would be the favorite if Love was a free agent. Max cap room, his preferred city, and the ability to bring in two other max contracts after Kobe is gone.

What free agents are going to be available soon that would be worth it? (serious question, because I know the "big 4" went, or will go, off the market this year.

Durant is available in 2016. The Lakers plan all along has been get Love in 2015, Durant in 2016, and Westbrook in 2017.

If Love waited a year, the team that would scare me is the Knicks.. if Melo returns there, they are set to have all kinds of money next year.. so his choice might come down to Melo in NY or Lebron in Cleveland.. which would be something for Love to consider. I still think the rest of our roster would be a lot better than theirs but it is NY and for some guys, that's worth something.

And the Knicks could just sign him outright instead of a sign and trade.
If you can get him now and not let him hit the market you have to do it. Teaming up two top five players never happens.
