They'll contend, in the loosest sense of the word.
4-7 seed, win a first series, maybe push a second to the brink.
They'll probably be competing with us to sign up Birdman.

Wiggins will prove how valuable he is when we face Indiana with Paul George and Lance. We're going to need two elite athletic defenders for them. The biggest hole on this team, regardless of what we do, is the lack of defense at PF. Tristan Thompson MUST step up. Brendan Haywood is our 3rd string center and Powell is our 3rd string PF. We need a 2nd string center and the front court is set. We also should sign Mike Miller and Ray Allen.
We need a second string center, and also a starting center for when Varejao gets hurt. Either that, or get the guy some HGH so he can stay healthy (hey, as long as they aren't testing for it, it's de facto legal.)
I want Emeka Okafor. I want us to get some ring chasers for cheap. Call up Jameer Nelson, Ray Allen, Mike Miller and Emeka Okafor.
Irving / Nelson / Dellavedova Wiggins / Waiters / Allen LeBron / Miller / Felix Thompson / Bennett / Powell Varejao / Okafor / Haywood

My East Powet Rankings as of now.
Chi (If Rose stays healthy) Indy (#1 if they can bring back Lance) Cle (#1 if they get Love) Washington Miami Toronto Charlotte Atlanta
I think whomever comes out of the east will lose anyways, maybe Indy with Lance, and Cle with Love stand a fighting chance..
I hope Miami finishes 11th.
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

I can agree with that, Indiana pending...still trying to figure out what the hell happened to them.
Was just thinking...Calipari would've been paid $80 million to coach LeBron James. I know he's a God in Lexington, but that would've been nice.

LeBron James Guarantees Cleveland Will Win Numerous Regular Season Games NEWS IN BRIEF • Sports • NBA Basketball • ISSUE 50•28 • Jul 11, 2014
Facebook18.4K Twitter3.4K Google Plus218 CLEVELAND—Immediately following the highly anticipated announcement that he will be returning to the Cavaliers, NBA superstar LeBron James boldly guaranteed that Cleveland will win numerous regular season games, sources confirmed Friday. “It’s not going to be easy, but I can personally assure you that the Cavs will win multiple games now that I’m back home,” the 4-time NBA MVP and Akron, Ohio native told reporters, claiming that putting together as many as four or five regular season wins for the franchise was “more than just a possibility.” “Just look at the team we’ve got: Kyrie Irving, Dion Waiters, Anderson Varejao, and now me. With a squad like that, you know we’re going to be seeing quite a few wins come October. That’s what the people of Cleveland deserve.” James added that, provided everything falls into place for the team, he could even see the Cavaliers putting together back-to-back Eastern Conference Finals losses.

Lebron came back for one thing. Money. He signed with the Cavs for two seasons of max contract. Two years from now, he'll bolt. So don't make any trades that will leave us in trouble when that happens. Don't mortgage the future for a two year run. And for Gods sake DON'T let Lebron make decisions. He's not the GM and he's not the Coach. He's a great player, but that's it. He's not in charge. Last time around they let him make team decisions and look at the team he left us with. James plays and the GM and Coach build the team. Period.
haha.
troll on troller
So anyone that doesn't buy in to the Smoochie smoochie love fest is a troll? Interesting.... Question? What were you saying four years ago? Were you fawning all over the guy then?

Just wondering if you and YTown still think I am stupid for saying that Cleveland and Miami were the top two destinations for LeBron?

He wasn't any different from a lot of us, it was hard to believe he'd come back. The stupid letter, the coaching turn over, the front office turn over. I didn't think the Cavs had a chance.
I'm still eating crow about it, and it's darn fun.
We're trying to throw the ball downfield and he checked the ball down to Trent Richardson and the Indians on the choice.

Did I say that?
Hmm .... I probably did at one point. Shows what I know then.

No, but saying things like 'he came back for money' are.
Everyone knows that it's incorrect, and just stated to get a rise out of people.

So now that the lbj stuff is done and over with andvthe schedule yet to be released anyone wanna take guesses on who the cavs will play on key days? The three biggest days that come to mind are opening night, the day before thanksgiving and Christmas. I think we may get all 3.

J/C... I thought this was a great read on LeBron and his original decision to leave and to come home. Enjoy! Windhorst Link to Article Had to post the Tweet with the link to the article. Wasn't working out otherwise.

Wow ... huge dollars from the Heat to re-sign some of their players ...... Andersen got $10 million for 2 years, so he got the $5 million/year I had heard he wanted. Luol Deng joining Miami Heat - ESPN http://espn.go.com/nba/truehoop/miamiheat/story/_/id/11210494/luol-deng-joining-miami-heatSources close to the situation told ESPN.com's Marc Stein that the Heat on Sunday also came to two-year agreements to re-sign guard Mario Chalmers and center Chris Andersen, both are familiar faces from the Heat's run of four successive trips to the Finals. Chalmers' deal is said to be in the $8 million range while Andersen's is in the $10 million range, according to sources.

I've been watching the Summer League games...he looks so much better.
His shot is still ugly as hell, but that's expected at this point.

I saw the 4th quarter of Friday and the whole game Sunday.
He still seems out of shape to me. Lots of huffing and puffing and struggles getting elevation. Had 8 rebounds in the first quarter Sunday but 7 were uncontested.

Also YTown, that is a reasonable enough explanation. It probably doesn't matter much at this point though. It's good to see cooler heads prevail.

Here's a great article by Windhorst and Ramona Shelburne that gives a lot of insight to the decisions that were made this year, and 4 years ago. Like I had always wondered, apparently he did try to bring Bosh and others in before the decision, and when that didn't happen, he reluctantly went to Miami because it was his only chance of winning Championships. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/11210073/lebron-james-returns-home

Sounds like good instincts and positioning.. that's like blaming a WR for catching too many balls when he's wide open.

It feels fluffy but I suppose since we aren't in the inner circle we'd never know its truthfulness. Either way I think he has had a change of heart and wants to get a title for Cleveland/NEO

I hope he's productive this year..but most of these guys will be bagging groceries..I hope Blatt gives him significant preseason minutes.. I'd love for him to become our stretch 4...the less time TT is on the floor the better. AB is the guy that would benefit from LBJ the most between he and TT

it not only seems fluffy, but it seems to contradict quite a few items that BW himself wrote back at the time.
guess it doesn't matter now.

I would rather they stay with the prodigal son storyline than the "I always wanted to stay" one. I'm glad he's here and I can understand his reasonings. I left ohio in 2004 and thought I'd NEVER want to come back. I lived in Austin Texas for 8 years, and not many people understood why I'd want to move back to the northeast. But I really do like the area and the people and I think it holds a special place for me.

Not sure where the "wanted to stay" storyline comes from. LeBron is on record in the last few days staying he's glad he left, it was good for him, he'd do it again, blahblahblah... but it's time to go home...

Let's remember that this account comes from a man who once proclaimed himself the 1-5 greatest shooters in the world (and Donyell Marshall #6).

I don't know what the true story is or how much truth there is to his recruiting efforts. I do know that he really had no choice but to leave, if he wanted to win titles anyway. The roster was a mess and basically had no long-term potential. If we are going to give Bosh and an aging Wade a hard time, look at the has beens that the 2010 Cavs had... old Shaq, old Jamison, old Parker, etc.

As much as it's almost treason to say it...the FO should've never given Z that deal, and I would go as far as saying that said deal is never offered if LBJ doesn't lobby hard for it.
All in the past now. In the end, I'm glad Z (almost) retired a Cav and got to take part in some of those glory years before LBJ left.

Like I've said in the past ... most of those first year Danny Ferry "mistakes" were brought on by Lebron himself. He was demanding that we get better, and he was entering into a contract extension year around that time. That was the year we went all out for Ray Allen and Michael Redd, and when those two both re-signed with their current team, we went all-in for Larry Hughes instead. We also handed out big contracts to Z on Lebron's insistence, as well as Damon Jones and Donyell Marshall.
We were good enough to get into the playoffs after that, but it pretty much handcuffed Ferry's ability to make roster moves all the way up until Lebron left.

I think he's talking specifically about the summer he left. I believe Windy was the one that reported that he had tried to get Bosh and Wade to come to Cleveland instead, but Bosh rejected that notion and went to Miami. The years prior he was a little iffy about recruiting, but I remember hearing stories about him trying to get people in at the last minute, and when that failed, he bailed to Miami. Most writers just assumed that he colluded years previously and only pretended it was a last minute decision.
