I just printed off our schedule for 2014.

What idiot set this up?

1 Steelers
2 Saints
3 Ravens
4 Bye
5 Titans
6 Steelers
They're trying to put us so deep in a hole we'll never recover.
We don't get a break until wk 7 against the Jags and that won't be easy either.

None of those teams should be as good as they were last year unless Jairus Byrd really steps it up. We're not out of any of those games.

If we can't beat the Jags then it doesn't matter who else is on our schedule.

I guess fans will see it as an opportunity for a trial by fire or a trail of tears. These teams can launch us or bury us early. I think we can come out of it near .500, and we could rattle the division with solid showing. It is a step we have to take and must get to that level. Never going to be easy.

Hope our defense shows up strong. They need to carry us early on, and if we put up more points than last season, or move sticks better, we can be in most of those games. But I am biased and hopeful. I have been known to be too optimistic.

Just my opinion but I think we should start AND end the year playing the Steelers every season.

In fact, I think the first three and last three should be against your division opponents. But that's just me.

I thought the league was trying to backload divisional games to keep things interesting.

This is the first year I can remember where we're done with the stoolers before mid season.

Man I hate that week 4 bye.

You can say 1 thing. If we make it through the first 7 weeks at 3-3 or better, people are gonna be talking about the Browns.

I think we are tied w/the Giants for having the 6th easiest schedule in the league. And you are complaining?

You're right. They generally have had rivals play each other within the last 4-5 weeks of season.

I would like having to first three weeks of the season to play against your rivals and leverage division records early. Then everyone goes their own way to win games and position themselves further with divisional records still a factor. Then any close records towards the end get battled out in three straight weeks. Last team standing (or two)wins.

Essentially they bloody themselves up early while shaking the rust off. Then they rendezvous to see who ultimately wins the AFC North. To me, that's more exciting and develops divisional story line a tad better.

Steelers, Ravens & Titans should be wins, IMHO. Saints don't concern me as much either now that we have the "No Fly Zone" secondary. I see no problem coming out of those games 3-3, 4-2 or better. This is NOT your same old Browns. Just sucks that our bye is so early.

If you want to be a good team, you have to beat other good teams at least as often as they beat you... I'm not concerned about the schedule.

Someone should have told the Browns that sometime during the last decade...

I don't get that view point, they might not be the same team, but they're pretty close to it. I can tell you flat out that the Raiders and Jags will suck this year, just like last year. Bengals, Steelers and Ravens are all mediocre teams again and that no one is beating the NFC West.

and what were your views this time last year of Houston, Atlanta and Kansas City?

it also depends on when you play a team. If Drew Brees gets hurt and we play NO without him in the lineup, then that is a much different team.

Yes, you can make an educated guess based on last year's team and what they have done, but that is all it is.

I've always thought Houston and Atlanta were weak as do I think KC is weak. I think they all have a lot of luck go their way. It's a pretty strong educated guess.

The schedule is never a concern to my way of thinking. You play the teams on the schedule. If you are good enough then you win.

You can never look at any team in the NFL and cower.

You have to win inside your division.

If you plan on going to the playoffs you should be good enough to win your division.

Outside the division win your home games at least.

Just win. Don't cry about who you play.

I agree. Win 6 of 8 at home and try to split on the road.

I don't worry about the schedule as far as who we play, or when - but a Bye week in September is frigging retarded.

I might normally agree, but with a new staff on hand, it might be welcomed. A chance to catch the breath so to speak.

My first post was directed towards the original poster. Not you. Some of you nit-pick on the dumbest things.

Sounds like a good plan, 'Peen. Make it so, Number One! What could be easier than that. Cakewalk to the playoffs

I don't really care about the opening....but I like ending the season with games of meaning. Actually, the NFL is starting to do this. It's far easier for a team like the Browns since we are the down team to sell tickets in December if the Steelers are visiting V. the Lions heading to town.

This holds true for any team. Rivarly games sell out early. The league has a pretty good idea who has a good team and who is a bit challenged. Give the weaker teams the late home game against the rival. Those sell out early.

Looking at our Dec schedule....we have the Colts on Dec 7th, and the Bengals on the 14th.

The Bengals is a game Clevelanders should be buying tickets. The Colts is a maybe, but Indy fans like to travel a bit. I'd bet the team hopes Indy fans are looking for a roadtrip game and hope to sell 5,000 tickets to Indy fans.

The point is Indy is a realistic drive for fans to make. It's not like Oakland was scheduled where you might be lucky to get 200 people to make the trip.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
