I found this very interesting...Billy WInn? Chris Faulk not ready? Only rookies report to camp today, so why are they making such announcements.

Hot off the Wire news; Browns

Quote:

The Cleveland Browns placed OL Chris Faulk (undisclosed), DE Billy Winn (undisclosed) and LB Tank Carder (undisclosed) on the non-football injury list Wednesday, July 23.

What is going on here?

Browns rookie RB Terrance West lands on non-football injury list

Quote:

Rookie tailback Terrance West, expected to be a key part of the Browns’ backfield, was one of six Cleveland players placed on the non-football injury list on Wednesday, according to the NFL’s daily transaction report.

On his Twitter account, West said he passed the club’s conditioning test and was “healthy” and “ready to go.” However, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal and Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer both reported West was on the non-football injury list because of the conditioning test.

A third-round pick from Towson, West appears the primary contender to veteran Ben Tate for carries in Cleveland’s backfield. The Browns’ first training camp practice is Saturday, giving West time to get off the list.

Other Browns placed on the non-football injury list Wednesday were linebacker Tank Carder, offensive tackle Chris Faulk, defensive tackle Jacobbi McDaniel, offensive guard Jeremiah Warren and defensive end Billy Winn. Per the Beacon Journal, Faulk, McDaniel, Warren and Winn were put on the list because of the conditioning test.

The Browns also made several other transactions Wednesday. They added offensive tackle Abasi Salimu, an undrafted free free agent from Nicholls State, on waivers from St. Louis. Cleveland also waived three veteran players: defensive back Royce Adams, linebacker Brandon Magee and wide receiver Conner Vernon.

The Browns have 88 players on the roster.

It's best for this to have its own topic tbh.

To catch everyone up:

West says that he's healthy and did pass his physical, so it's unclear why he's on the Non-Football Injury List. I suspect it's just a day to day thing, but I'm just spit balling there.

I'm more concerned about Billy Win. Most people who are put on these lists are due to failed physicals (Source: NFL Beat Writers). Hopefully he's not too badly out of shape (If he is) and can come back quickly. I think having him, Armonty, and John Hughes battle it out for reps is great for everyone.

Reports are coming that he did fail his conditioning test.

What the hell has he been doing for the past few weeks?

West or Winn?

Either way, this was the last news I expected to be hearing. Bummer if all true.

Today it looks like they added everyone back...per Nate Ulrich

Quote:

Browns add RB Terrance West, OT Faulk, DL McDaniel & G Warren to active roster after putting them on nonfootball injury list yesterday.

Mark Kay is reporting:

Quote:

Browns waived RB Jourdan Brooks and WR Kenny Shaw.

I guess people didn't take it serious when they said report in shape!

Browns Rookie RB Terrance West Cleared For Training Camp By DARYL RUITER, 92.3 The Fan Browns Beat Reporter

Quote:

BEREA (92.3 The Fan) – Cleveland Browns rookie running back Terrance West will not miss any practice time at the start of training camp.

West, who was placed on the non-football injury list by the Browns on Wednesday along with 5 others, was moved back to the active roster Thursday.

West is expected to compete with veteran running back Ben Tate for the starting job in the backfield.

After reports surfaced that West would start on the non-football injury list,he took to Twitter to tell everyone he was OK with a pair of tweets.

“Lol I passed my conditioning test. You people stop making up your own stories,” West tweeted followed by: “I’m healthy ready to go. (NO WORRIES) #dawgpound.”

Offensive linemen Chris Faulk and Jeremiah Warren as well as defensive lineman Jacobbi McDaniel were also moved back to the active roster Thursday.

Defensive end Billy Winn and linebacker Tank Carder remain on the non-football injury list. The Browns active roster stands at 86. The NFL allows teams to carry as many as 90 players at the beginning of camp.

It seems to me like we may have used that list to help make some other moves .......

Trading for Kevin Love has been big news in the BB world. The Cavs are kinda the front runners in acquiring one of the top 10 players in the league. They have been making moves to clear up salary to make this acquisition. Needless to say, there has been a ton of speculation about each and every move--or non-move. Purp was just playing around w/it and I thought it was funny as hell.

I'm a bit embarrassed to have to have that explained to me. Also to say I have no interest in BB which explains why I know nothing about it. The only thing I know about the Cavs is that LeBron James came back.

In that light though it is funny.

#browns TE Gary barnidge was carried in from conditioning test on cart, might've been heat issue. DT Phil Taylor didn't finish either.

Browns WR Josh Gordon reports to training camp; Taylor, Barnidge fail to complete conditioning test

Embattled Browns All-Pro wide receiver Josh Gordon was among the veterans who reported to training camp today and took a conditioning test this afternoon in front of the media.

Gordon is facing a potential ban from the NFL of at least a year because he tested positive for marijuana, ESPN reported, and he has an appeal hearing scheduled for Aug. 1.

After being arrested and charged with driving while impaired July 5 in Raleigh, N.C., Gordon checked himself into rehab, Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports 1 reported Thursday. Gordon spent two weeks in a rehab facility in California, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.

Despite his troubled offseason, Gordon appeared to be in fine physical shape. He and other veterans ran about 20 timed sprints. Quarterbacks, rookie and veterans recovering from injuries took the test earlier this week.

Not everyone fared well during today's test.

Nose tackle Phil Taylor and tight end Gary Barnidge did not pass the test. Taylor tapped out toward the end. Moments later, an athletic trainer helped tight end Gary Barnidge off the field as he appeared to struggle with the heat. Barnidge was then carted off the field and into the facility.

Strong safety Donte Whitner passed the test, but he somersaulted over the finish line on the final sprint. An athletic trainer walked him into the facility minutes later.

New Browns coach Mike Pettine surprised many media members by allowing them to watch the test. Reporters who have covered the team for decades can't recall being granted access to a conditioning test.

Does anyone have more info on this? Hopefully he didn't injured trying to be "cute". We paid him a decent chunk of $ and our secondary needs Hitner back there badly.

That sucks. Poor guy. From everything I've read about him he seems to be a real hard worker and he provided good depth on this team.

Hopefully, it's just temporary for him, but at the same time, you don't want to risk a potentially life-threatening issue.

@twithersAP: #Browns have waived OL Chris Faulk.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

One of the least surprising cuts this year. Faulk doesn't fit, and has major injury issues.

As far as Pinkston, I feel bad for him. He has struggled through so much, and just can't reach a level of health that will allow him to play. (as it seems, anyway) I have never been as sold on his ability as some have ..... but I hate to see a guy forced into giving up his dream.

On the bright side for him .... if there is such a thing in this situation, at least he's made a lot of money, and hopefully is set, financially, for life.

$$$ aside, hope the Pinkston situation sees him in a good situation ITO health if he can't play now or career is over. Hope he has done well with the money, and felt he played well for us. Best to him. Desrves this kind of respect from FO. I think it shows some class IMO.

Why is it some threads start out titled one thin but then end up another later on?

Don't ask me ..... I don't know anything about thin anymore.

Anyway .... that is the nature of conversation, isn't it? We start on one topic, and then move off on tangents at all kinds of angles.

From Pinkston's Twitter:

https://twitter.com/JasonPinkstonOL/status/493594360647143425

@JasonPinkstonOL: Praying for my hunting & fishing buddy taught me how's it done love you pap! http://instagram.com/p/q-ql5oReuD/

So maybe some sort of family health issue? Though they said not medically cleared (maybe he just hasn't taken the clearance test yet?) -- Potentially a joint medical issue (car crash or something similar?)

I'm not sure how a player qualifies for an injury settlement or if Pinkston is a candidate for such a settlement...but that might be what is going on...just a guess.
