I still never understand why it's such a big deal. Preseason games are meaningless for the record.

I made up a song for the GLC. It goes like this

It's the Great Lakes Classsiiiiccccc!!

Go Browns!

It's got a good beat and it's easy to dance to.

Why has no one linked the GLC song yet?

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Pee Guy is working on it. Check his Facebook. I think it is the snazziest, snappiest GLC tune I have ever heard
perhaps. Wonder if it is on iToonz?

Since this song first came out it has been my game song. I always listen to it before kick off.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

For me, it's a throwback nod to the days when both teams were league-leaders.

On top of that, both are regional teams, with overlapping fan bases.

You are correct in that it's "just" a pre-season game, but playing for "the barge" adds a little spice to an otherwise unimportant addendum to training camp.

Side note: my stand partner is a Detroit native son, and has followed them all his life. Being born in Cleve, I could boast the same for myself and our Brownies. We both are hoping for a day when Det and Cleve play in the SB. Until then, the GLC is pretty much all we've got, you know?

The overlapping thing makes sense.

As I understand there are quite a few Browns AND Lions fans in toledo??? Much like YTown is with the Browns and the Stools.

I have to admit that this one brought a tear to my eye. So much hope at the time. Man, little did we know how bad things would be.

For those of you who, like me, don't live in the greater Cleveland area; the first preseason game is going to be live on NFL Network. One of the benefits of having Johnny Manziel on your team.

Then we get a Monday night preseason game the next week. There's no reason to sign up for the NFL pass for one game since the 4th game is just scrubs vs. scrubs.

But Hoyer gets the start.
Which is means Johnny gets most of the playing time.
funny how that works out.

If I recall correctly, this very Sports Illustrated is in the Captain's Quarters on the U.S.S. Midway docked in San Diego.
