Ok, maybe this should be a Tailgate topic.. if you think so, move it refs. But, with all the stress of the draft coming up, I thought we could all use a fun thread like this.
If you had to give one of our draft busts a second chance to come in here and start this season... Who would it be? (Not just since 99', I'm talking about all-time).

Jeff Faine - after how he did in New Orleans, I wish we could have that one back.

If they were redrafted? As in going back in time?
Courtney Brown, no doubt. The guy had so much talent, but injuries ruined his career. A damn shame.

As in, if we were drafting them out of college, to play on the team we have right now.

Ahhh...
If we're allowed to use our 1st rounder this year in addition to bringing a player back, I'd take (don't shoot me) Couch again. It would allow us to use our 1st on either Peterson or Thomas instead of Quinn, which would give us either plenty of weapons or add more consistency to the line - neither of which Couch had when he was here. If he had better weapons and protection, I can't imagine he would've busted out as bad as he did.
If we'd have to use our first on the guy this year, I'd re-draft Courtney Brown and hope he didn't blow his knee out the 2nd time around. He would've been incredible if not for the catastrophic injury.
We're... we're good?

yea I agree. I would go with couch as well.bambi brown was a prototypical 4-3 end.
Couch was a bust because he was drafted 1 overall, but you have to remember he didn't bust like akili or leaf. he did have 64 td's and 67int's. that's not bad considering what leaf, smith, mccown and others accomplished. the problem with couch was consistency. he could never string together a season beyond medocrity. had had way more potential than frye or any other qb we have on the team now. I really wonder what would happen if he got put in a better situation.

Healthy? No question Courtney Brown.
Out of what they are...only two worth any spiddle now...Warren and Faine.
With the injury to Bentley I guess Faine but we got Fraley. Faine was let loose cause he was OWNED by Hampton of the Steelers. A 280 Center isn't going to get far in our black n blue division. Warren is a piece of (Shut your mouth). Geeez do we got to take any back. Lets move forward.

Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

I have to agree Tim Couch. Everyone wants to say the reason Frye had a worse interception to touchdown ratio than Couch ever had was because of the OL. Well I'm here to remind y'all that Tim had less talent on his OL then Frye had last season and that is a fact!
Just wait till next season, I have heard that for over 40 years!

Are we talking about since 1999 or all time Browns busts. If we are talking all time there are much worse that some mentioned. Mike Phipps? Tommy Vardell? At least with Courtney and Couch there were injuries that caused them to bust. With some it was just bad picks with inferior talent. I think that the Browns, like other teams make BAD mistakes.
Hope springs eternal in the heart of a true Browns fan. GO BROWNS!!!!!

Yeah, Courtney Brown would be my choice too if we could magically keep him healthy. That kid had a dark cloud permanently stationed overhead when he came to the NFL. Too bad.

Glad to see Courtney getting some love. I have to say, potential wise.....Courtney gets my vote all around. As someone said, put him in a magic injury free bubble, and hope he does better the 2nd incarnation. Now, the next question is, Since you want us to go back in time and name all time draft bust to "magically" start over, I would like you to tell me, if 100% healthy, give me your dream team. (all time guys...use any player from any era for your team.) Take your time, think this through. It doesn't mean they HAVE to have been a Brown, it would be preferrable that your dream team contain mostly Browns players. When I say think on this then give me your dream team, I mean think about all positions, from all eras and all teams. Figure out the best possible team. IF you do your research correctly you will find some very interesting things. So, let's hear what your ALL Time Dream Browns Team would be. (Bundrenettes, here's your chance to make your man a starter on your Dream Team)

I'm glad to see my boy TIm Couch getting some love. And whoever said Couch had a worse offensive line than this... THANK YOU!
Couch took us to the playoffs with a team far less talented than this.

Oh, and by the way... Timmy just recently had another arm surgery in Kentucky for anyone who cares lol.
Rumor down there is that he is going to try to get back in the NFL in 08.

it'd be cool for him if he's able to, but I wouldn't put money on it at this point.
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

I think he'll try.... but I don't think he'll be able to. His arm is shot. I don't think anyone will take a chance on him. JMO.

Ya know, this is really sad. Two young guns that were good for Cleveland are both on the outside looking in right now. Tim Couch and Jarrett Wright. Both had guns and loved the game but ended up out on injuries. (yes Wright is out again and gonna have surgery on his shoulder)

I've actually met Tim at my uncle's golf course in Lexington a few times (Hell of a golfer by the way). This was during the offseason when he was still here by the way, but he always talked about how he loved Cleveland and wanted to retire from here, which is why it hurt so bad for him when the fans cheered when he got hurt. Personally, I really hope he gets back into the league and gets another shot.

OK, let's get this straight...the fans didn't cheer because he got hurt. They cheered because Kelly was gonna get to play.

Either way. Would it be okay for the Anderson supporters to cheer when Frye got hurt?

Yes...because they aren't cheering for an injury. I've never understood where Tim got off thinking that way.

Well, I guess we have to agree to disagree. Whether you are cheering because someone got hurt, or you are cheering because someone else gets to come in... I still don't think you should cheer when a guy can't even find his way off the field.

Could it be that he had a concussion and all he heard was cheering while he was laying on the ground? It was just as stupid to cheer for the locker room cancer to be coming into the game as it was if it were for Couch being hurt....and you can't convince me with the venom many have shown for Couch that there weren't cheers for his injury.
