Several notable Browns players to sit out Saturday night's preseason opener vs. Lions Several notable Browns players won't play Saturday night in the preseason opener against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. Rookie cornerback Justin Gilbert (groin) headlines the list. The earliest the eighth overall pick in this year's draft would be able to make his NFL debut is Aug. 18, when the Browns will visit the Washington Redskins in the second preseason game. Wide receivers Travis Benjamin (knee) and Nate Burleson (hamstring), free safety Tashaun Gipson (knee), defensive end Billy Winn (abdomen) and Pro Bowl tight end Jordan Cameron (shoulder) have been ruled out, too. Benjamin, who's coming back from a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered last October, does not have a new knee injury. The Browns are simply being cautious with him and Gipson, who sprained his left knee during practice Aug. 1. Gipson participated in the team's most recent practice Thursday, though an athletic trainer examined his knee on the field. Gary Barnidge will start in place of Cameron at tight end. Phil Taylor will start Winn at right defensive end. Also, the following Browns players did not make the trip to Detroit: Inside linebacker Darius Eubanks (shoulder), offensive linemen Reid Fragel (lower leg), Randall Harris (knee) and Alex Parsons (knee) and outside linebacker Eric Martin (concussion). Offensive lineman Nick McDonald (wrist) remains on the non-football injury list. Three Lions players will sit out: Defensive end Ezekiel Ansah and wide receivers Calvin Johnson and TJ Jones. I'm bummed that we won't see Gilbert ... and the Lions are completely different without CJ obviously

The WR and TE positions have a lot of guys who have battled injuries in the past, and already in our first game, three of them are not going to play. Nope..............no concerns. Everything will be peachy.

I will admit, I'll be shocked if Benjamin plays more than half of the games this year. He's an injury waiting to happen ... and that's not to mention Miles Austin's hamstrings and Burleson's glass parts.

the reason we are getting gashed in the running game already is because for some reason we moved taylor to end and rubin to nose...which he is not that good at......makes no sense

Poyer and Haden each had horrible plays on the 1sr series.
Haden let Tate inside on him for a big gain, and Poyer whiffed badly on a tackle, allowing a 2 yard run to urn into a big play.
On offense, Tate looked good on a couple of carries, Hoyer made a couple of nice throws, and Gray looks like he is going to be a real weapon this year. The throw to Gordon was awful.

I hate the way Haden gets spun around by guys named Ogletree. Guys like that should have zero catches on Haden. Haden has been doing that same move since his rookie year. That's not fitting of a guy with his paycheck.
