Otto Everett Graham, Jr. (December 6, 1921 – December 17, 2003) was an American football quarterback who played for the Cleveland Browns in the All-America Football Conference and National Football League. Graham is regarded by critics as one of the most dominant players of his era, having taken the Browns to league championship games every year between 1946 and 1955, winning seven of them. With Graham at quarterback, the Browns posted a record of 114 wins, 20 losses and four ties, including a 9–3 win–loss record in the playoffs. While most of Graham's statistical records have been surpassed in the modern era, he still holds the NFL record for career average yards gained per pass attempt, with nine. He also holds the record for the highest career winning percentage for an NFL starting quarterback, at 0.814. Long-time New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, a friend of Graham's, once called him "as great of a quarterback as there ever was."

Our first year in the NFL we had to play the previous years Champs [Eagles] and beat them twice. The 2nd time Otto did it WITHOUT throwing a pass. On orders from Paul Brown who foolishly answered a back-handed comment from the Eagles that if it weren't for the pass they couldn't beat anyone. That didn't set too well with PB hence no passing the 2nd game.

We wupped them twice and won the NFL Championship in 1950.

Thanks for the memories.

I remember when Lou "The Toe" Groza early in the game missed an extra point, I can't remember why, Now the score was still 6-0 Browns but I said to myself, self, We just lost the game. Final Score Browns 20 them 21. Really sad loss.

Thanks for the memories

At practice yesterday I saw an Otto Graham jersey being worn by a young lady. There's no doubt she had no idea who he was, but I find that to be both sad and respectful that his jersey would still be worn.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I've never worn a jersey in my life, but I think I'd choose to wear either Joe Thomas, Joe Haden, or one of our legends like that.

Players on the active roster are NOT legends. Legends are in the HOF or Recognized by the team as retired.
