Yes this was long overdue. Time to end this debacle.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
- Theodore Roosevelt

No doubt, one of those things that got passed and noone wanted top be the one to propose changing it.

The opposing argument makes absolutely no sense.
'If we spend money that goes back to their country, it's just helping to embolden a Communist, repressive regime'.
Seriously? How can you say that with a straight face?

If they could, and some will, it will probably be the same people who support open trade with China and our continued support of Pakistan.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

They've been doing it all week, and that's my point.
If we didn't deal with Communist or repressive regimes, this country would turn into Alternate 1985 in a heartbeat.

This will take all of the fun out of firing up a Cohiba Esplendito.

For my entire life, Cuba was the closest enemy and threat to our way of life. The world almost ended over the relationship between us and them.
When the Bay of Pigs invasion failed, many wanted a full invasion with a hundred thousand soldiers, air force and navy and it was so very lucky we didn't do it because years later we found out the Russian Commander in Cuba had one Nuke Warhead at his disposal and permission to use it on our incoming armada.
I understand the hatred and mistrust that made this thing last so long. I see one old Castro is kept alive (maybe) and the other is 78 years old. A major generational change is about to take place in Cuba. At this time we may be able to catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

I went to high school and graduated with a lady that is cuban.
By that I mean, she was born in the US but her parents came from Cuba. They came here before the Castros and the embargo.
I asked her what the Cuban American community was protesting about down in Miami. I would have thought that all Cuban Americans would welcome this news with open arms..
Her response was not something I totally understood but she's an old friend so I wasn't about to box her in about it. She said that younger Cuban Americans want to see normalization of relations with Cuba, but the older Generation do not.
Yeah, it didn't make a lot of sense to me either.
Mostly because I noticed a lot of young people in the video of the protests.
Myself I'd like to see us end the embargo.

Yeah, it didn't make a lot of sense to me either. That seriously doesn't make sense to you?

Yeah, it didn't make a lot of sense to me either. That seriously doesn't make sense to you? Doesn't really make sense to me either. Of the Cubans I have had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with, most didn't like what their home had become and that is why they left, but they all seemed to have a love of their homeland, and it seemed would love to be able to return to visit family still there. This would seem like a step towards that happening. But I will acknowledge that I don't know much about the whole history of Cuba and the Castro reign, other than what has been projected by the media in my lifetime.
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.

Yeah, it didn't make a lot of sense to me either. That seriously doesn't make sense to you? No, not when you look at the protestors and see the majority of them being rather young. I get that the older Cuban Americans have issues with Castro. That's a no brainer really. But, I would think they'd be the ones that should realize that the end of the Castro regime is growing near. In addition, they will, if they choose to, be able to visit Cuba again, something I'm sure they never thought they 'd get a chance to do. It could turn out that they can Bring relatives to America to either live here, or at least visit from time to time. So no, I think that overall, there are more positives than negatives. So I guess it's not very clear to me why they'd protest.

Just a simple answer
But I would imagine there is a lack of trust.

But I would imagine there is a lack of trust. without question. I wouldn't trust that regime either given the things I've been told they've done to their own people. The older folks who came here or those that heard about it from them no doubt have a different outlook. But like I said, all I saw protesting were younger folks.
