I'd think I could have some fun with the thread. Truth is, sooner or later, one was going to pop up, so I wanted to have a little jokey jokey with it <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
The sad part is that in Browns Chat, I told everyone that in the 4th quarter and in crucial moments is where Anderson always screwed the pooch in college, and is why I don't like him as a viable QB.
Then he does that <img src="/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

Still lead us down to score with 35 seconds left to tie it up. Kept us in the game.

He sure did look good on that last TD drive though.

That was my reaction too! I was waiting for the old days of Couch/Holcumb!!! Not at all surprised it has already come up even if it was started tongue in cheek though, we all know it would have been a serious post before this game was over.

Not saying he's the answer but he may be worth a look.
I bet Frye does not start next week due to "injury" <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

There is NO QB contraversay... Sad though that it will happen, I bet alot of people think DA is the next coming of Montana after his FIRST performance...
Fact is, neither one is the "answer", and I think one will be gone when we are a playofff team...

Oh hell, they both had a good day.
Chuck was doing really well before he got yanked.
I hope all the crazy people remember that.

lol.........just worked your way back on my list...lol.
In all honesty though, I don't mind an open competition for any job in TC, but unless you know the guy is Tony Romo (usually shows up in practice if a guy is that good) then I don't like changing QBs middle of the year..............especially since we have 2 younguns that we still don't know what we have with either. If CF is hurt though I think DA shut up all the preseason whinning about needing a better backup QB..............he did his job today that's for sure.

Who says we need to bring in a veteran for depth at QB. Anderson is a sound back-up. Uses shovel passes, throws tighter spirals than Charlie, good running ability, apparently can execute the screen pass, taller than Charlie, and bigger hands. I'm not ready to start him but I'll concede that maybe Savage knew what he was doing when he stole the kid.

The kid could give lessons to Frye as far as play fakes. <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
He had a couple of incredible fakes in this game.

[color:"white"]Hehehe........I guess I should go ahead and say that I believe it's still Charlie's job. Any QB can do some things when the line actually blocks and the other team isn't ready for you.
Having said that, you just gotta know that in the back of Opie's mind, he's going "Derek Anderson........Hmmmmmm........"

Thank you... I've saved it on the web server... I have a feeling I'll be considering adding it as a graemlin as it will be probably getting a lot of use in the coming weeks.

If CF has an injury that keeps him out a couple of games and DA plays well enough I think there will be defininte competition in camp next year, and if he really plays well he might have an advantage. I don't think that we will see the same "phantom" injury that Holcomb got during that God awefull mess that went on a few weeks back. If CF is healthy he will be the man imo as well.

It probably helped that we had a running game today and protection as well

J/C
I personally think Anderson deserves a look
me and my buddy(we been Browns fans for 27 years) have been pulling for this kid since he came on the team
he a "Proto-typical NFL QB" he has the height (He is 6'5) he is a big kid(230 or more i do belive) the kid "can run when he has to" BUT he doens't run often.,...the kid is more of a "Pocket-Passer" Anderson has a rifle of an arm(Somehting Frye does not have, Anderson has a much better arm, and he has that zip and velocity on his passes Frye don't have. (Anderson did not throw a single duck today, all nice tight spirals)
Look folks, we may have ourselves a servicable QB here, im not syaing this kid is Tom Brady or anything like that yet, but i do belive Anderson is a better fit for this team, Davidson's Offense/Charlie Weises Offense is tailored for more of a Pocket Passer, anderson is more of a pocket-passer.
another thing about this kid was his decision making...the kid doesn't hold the ball too long, he did maybe 3 plays out of the whole game, the kid took his 3 steps and fired the ball, he got rid of the ball quickly, he had 1 pick, but he threw 2 TD's, and he also drove us down the field late in the 4th quarter for the game tieing TD....something Frye has not done yet.....Anderson had a great 4th quarter...it's a good start
im just saying Anderson deserves atleast a look see
he has done alot of things right in this game....he showed me more in one game than Frye has shown me in 15....look he threw a pick...he came back in and ran for 43 yards and ran people over...that right there is just heart...period...we have yet to see Frye come back and bounce back like that...Anderson has alot of heart....
Anderson has shown me alot, im not saying make the kid the starter "yet"...but he could one day develop into one

Anderson's probably not the answer for next year.
However, he deserves the look for the rest of the year, unless he's absolutely dreadful.
See ya Charlie...

So what happens from here on out? Im assuming we'll see Charlie If his injury doesnt keep him out. But this is very interesting because Charlie played a great game but Derek WON the game something that Charlie hasnt been able to do lately. There styles are so dif as well. Looks like we may have our two QB's for this team next year but we also may have another QB controversy! What are your thoughts?

Mark my words DA starts next week!
It's a no brainer.....Frye = bad wrist + short week + our superbowl game = DA Start.
Now if he wins and plays well, it WILL be a controversy. DA does look more poised then Frye IMO, but its only one half.

Just a quick note. On the CBS post game show Marino, Esiaison both are not sure either guy is an answer and Boomer said look to Notre Dame. I think Frye BADLY needs an offseason with a qb coach refining his weaknesses. If he's injured for any length of time here that may force the issue . . .
Say what you want about about Dan and Boomer but as former QB's I'd think they would know something about that position and what it takes to succeed there. Everything else they say is debateable.

Our stellar OL play today was the reason we won. They allowed Frye, Anderson, Rube, Wright, Cribbs all make plays.
