I was impressed with good details like tight passes, footwork, and intense focus. Her exceeded my expectations. Dawgs?

He played poorly.

Held the ball too long.
Inaccurate several times.
Made poor decisions.
I thought he had a pretty bad arm as well.

Backup quality AT BEST.

He played like a undersized UDFA QB with a weak arm.

He played OK, for what he is ..... but he made very few plays on the field.

He'll be a good one to have as a backup game manager type but that noodle arm is going to hold him back from being anything special.

Not saying much, but he definitely looked like he put more into his game day preparation than #2 did.

He looked better than Manzeil in every facet. If the QBs stay the same, he's the backup to Hoyer

I think that I might have been able to look better than Manziel, even with my bad back, at age 51, and with being horribly out of shape.

Give him a B ... at least compared to who we've been watching

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Or Shaw played better than she did the last two starts

I will speak only of Shaw.

Overall it was what one would expect from a first year player from the practice squad.

He did not know receiver tendencies well, that would improve with time. A couple of times he led receivers into hits.

He found that the game and players are faster.

He was a bit slow with the reads, again that can improve with time, but he was not decisive.

His arm is not very good. That is the biggest concern.

After one week of practice i think he did pretty well also. He did seem to float some up there that were under-thrown, but he did have zip on a few deeper throws. He had nice touch on the short stuff i thought.

I will say that his play makes Manziel look like that much more of a fool. If i had to keep one undersized project it would be him, and not party boy.

Positives: He wasn't overwhelmed by the position or situation. He ran the offense fairly well. He ran or tried to when things broke down and kept his eyes downfield.

Negatives: Inaccurate on the deep ball. Throws soft balls. Undersized and gets hurt when he takes a shot.

About what we thought he was, not starter material but stepped up to the challenge IMO. Looked much better prepared than Manziel did in his first start.

His arm is about the same as Hoyers. Adequate in good weather in a system that doesn't throw deep. It's looking very much like the franchise QB we are looking for isn't on the roster. Hoyer proved he isn't it. And while I still say you can't judge Johnny's on field ability in 7 quarters, his off field stuff is enough for me to think we should perhaps part ways with the idiot ASAP. Shaw is fine for what he is, a nice kid with a good work ethic and a sub-par arm. Backup material for sure. Franchise QB? Not. We need to keep looking.

I think that Shaw looked very calm and in control of the offense, especially for a rookie who has been on the practice squad all season.

He looked much better than Manziel.

I don't get that Caldawg comment about getting hurt when he takes a hit. He took a couple massive hits, got up and kept going.

I think that he demonstrated that he can be a solid #2 guy. I think that he also showed that at this point he isn't a number 1. The key will be his arm strength. Can he improve it? Brees and Brady did. Wish I knew how.

He's a good kid,, with that out of the way, he looked better than our first round headache Manziel did in his first start and for that matter, his second start.

He's the kinda kid that would get better in time. But, his best isn't good enough.

He's not the answer. But I enjoyed watching a rookie with not much advanced knowledge that he was gonna start do a decent job.

I was hoping for more from him, didn't expect much.

He looked a lot like Colt McCoy did his rookie year. I expect that will be his ceiling, which to be honest isn't a bad gig, get paid millions to play a few games a year.

He looked 5-miles ahead of Johnny Manziel.

With that being said...

His deep arm looked really poor.
Lacks any zip on his throws.
Didn't make very many good reads.

The positives though...

He was mobile and seemed to sense pressure pretty well.
Was quick to check down to the RB when his #1 read wasn't there.
Looked confident and poised.
Seemed to know the playbook.

I give the kid credit, he looked ready and confident but he didn't look like anything special.

His lack of arm strength kind of hurts his potential as far as us keeping him around to groom for the future.

He kind of reminded me of Charlie Frye just without the goofy crustache.

I was pleased overall. No cannon, but he took his looks. Shanny didna help him much with the passing stuff. OLine helped him even less in my opinion. Given the small amount of time to prepare, thought he looked great for what we had left.

Liked his disciplined game and demeanor way more than JM.

Yeah I was very unimpressed too. I expected to be. This guy was third string for a reason. As average as Hoyer is, he is so much better than anything else they have right now. We are screwed until at least 2016 draft when we might have the first overall pick.

I don't think that we will be that bad but if we are, is there anybody to "tank" for?

Juniors that don't look like they are coming out this year

Connor Cook MSY
Jacoby Brissett NCST

Sophamores

Christian Hackenberg PSU
Gunner Kiel Cincinnati
Jarod Goff Cal
Cyler Miles Washington
Wes Lunt Illinois
Davis Webb Texas Tech
Sefo Liufau Colorado
Patrick Towles Kentucky
Will Gardner Louisville

I don't know much about most of these guys. I don't think Connor Cook will ever be good enough to warrant a top pick. Hackenberg has potential to be but needs to develop. I remember seeing part of one game that Goff played and he caught my I. I liked how he threw the ball but that is really all that I have seen so not enough for judgement.

I liked him and I think he can be a viable backup. Possibly making Hoyer obsolete.

1. Shanny dummied down the Hoyer play book and added a couple of runs...the one read option, almost got him killed..just throw that crap out and forget about it.

2. He was in decent rhythm was very accurate - as mentioned I like the kid.

3. Sadly I don't think he can throw a sideline route accurately if its more than 10 yards and forget about the deep passes. Unless we got WRs who can adjust and come back for the ball which for Gosh sakes I see every team do but ours. But back to Shaw. DBs will get wise and start INT those deep throws.

Gutsy kid I liked him maybe good for a game or two spot starter. But no chance of being THE GUY.

Shaw had one of the worst arms I've seen in the NFL. He made Ken Dorsey look like John Elway. He made Charlie Frye look like Brett Favre. He made Colt McCoy look like Jay Cutler.

That was depressing.
