Our draft position is set, 12 and 19 (Buf's).

All we have to do now is all agree on who to take and or what to do with the picks. HA!

I go, DL and WR, maybe OL instead of WR, today. Not a big fan of either 'top' QB, think Hundley or Petty later on would be a better pick. Cook has said he isn't coming out this year, of course that could change.

Statistics are like a bikini; what they show is interesting, but what they hide is vital.

I'd draft a QB with both picks.

Any two players out of the DT/DE/LB categories

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Picks 1-20 are as follows (some teams could theoretically change positions after the Sunday night game between Cincinnati and Pittsburgh):

1. Tampa Bay (2-14, .486 strength of schedule)
2. Tennessee (2-14, .506)
3. Jacksonville (3-13, .514)
4. Oakland (3-13, .570)
5. Washington (4-12, .496)
6. New York Jets (4-12, .541)
7. Chicago (5-11, .529)
8. Atlanta (6-10, .482)
9. New York Giants (6-10, .512)
10. St. Louis (6-10, .531)
11. Minnesota (7-9, .475)
12. Cleveland (7-9, .478)
13. New Orleans (7-9, .486)
14. Miami (8-8, .512)
15. San Francisco (8-8, .527)
16. Houston (9-7, .447)
17. Kansas City (9-7, .510)
18. San Diego (9-7, .512)
19. Cleveland via Buffalo (9-7, .516)
20. Philadelphia (10-6, .490)

I see as many as 7 or 8 teams ahead of us who might be looking for a QB.

I doubt that we can get high enough in the draft to get one of the top 2 QBs.

What a mess....

....we need a starting QB, WR, TE, RB, DL, OLB, CB

Still need depth on the OL, still need a thumper at ILB and have to start drafting replacements for Dansby and Whitner

We're looking at a complete rebuild, folks

I have zero faith in our talent evaluators to do this the right way. While most Homers might look at our record and think we got closer, I think we're further away than ever

I disagree, we have RB, DL, CB.

Our rbs have the talent and I think they proved that.(west had 94 yards and TD yesterday) Our OL needs to play better, and they will when Mack is back.

Our DL was fine until injures started to pile up early in the season. We were just unlucky this year with DL injuries.

Our CB play would have been much better if we had an actual pass rush. Williams Gets it and looks awesome in the slot, Desire doesn't look that bad, and he is getting better. Gilbert has all the tools in the world but needs to step up.

I think we need a pass rushing specialist opposite of Kruger and some better DL Depth, maybe upgrade some players who are more stout on defending the run.

Every 3rd string RB has the "talent" for a nice run or game here and there. That doesn't mean they're starting material. Both Crowell and West are simply inconsistent and can't be relied upon. West doesn't even have any special talent, but that's just my opinion. He gives you what is blocked and that's it. I see Crow as a fine RB2 with upside and West as dime a dozen 3.

Fact is, while not the 2013 mess, our RBs are still well below league AVG by most standards. When a position is bad compared to league AVG, then I consider that a need. There are some good RBs in this draft and I hope we draft one of them.

When we had Mack they both looked like All Stars. First 5 weeks when we could run the ball they all (including Tate) did very well. That tells me that our running game is fine and that our OL needs to get it together.

I would invest in OL depth or upgrade RT rather then a RB.

RB

crow is averaging 4.1 YPC and has 8 TD's west is averaging 3.9 and has 4 TD's
crow has 607 yards west has 673. Between the two that's 1300 yards and 12 TD's... all while having to deal with Tate's childish issues.

they are both legit and need an offseason. We do not need starters there.

DL
DL Taylor on IR
Kitchen on IR
Desmond Bryant hurt
Rubin Injured Probably won't be back
Bryant IR
once we get our entire DL back from IR... we will be ok.
could use another body at DE if the Bryant Brothers can't go.

1/2 our LB at some point was injured Mingo played 1/2 the season in a shoulder strap.
Williams Haden

not sure why we need a CB?
Skrine, Desir Gilbert Haden Williams. even if we lose skrine... still in great shape.

LB
Sheard is a FA that we should sign. He should have been the starter from day one.
Robertson can make the move to the outside. He is plenty quick enough.
Kirksey is an a beast at RILB
Dansby we have time with him yet... he's very good
Mingo sucks and we should make him a pass rusher only maybe he will bulk up over the offseason and learn how to tackle. (I doubt it)
Kruger played well this season.
depth... it's there

not sure where we need help?

TE we need help there.
Cameron should retire to he can remember his own name.

WR we need a first round Beckham type stud to help out Gordon Hawkings QB and our dynamic duo RB's. If we can pick one of them up... we are golden.
Gabriel is growing and will turn into a great player. the rest of the depth is developmental.

QB- no question. something needs to happen there. IF we can pull off something... we are a playoff team.

in the end I think we need:
QB
WR
TE
pass rush DE if Bryants cant recover
backup NT if we do not resign our depth

we are set at:
RB
LB
CB

We need a lot (WR, QB, OL,DL, LB, probably CB and S).

I think we should go interior DL, and either pass rushing OLB or secondary in first round.

Draft seems deep at WR, we should be able to find talent in the 2nd and/or third rounds.

My thought is this: The only thing we NEED is a QB. IMO, everything else is a Want.
We can get by quite easily with what we have everywhere else.

There are a lot of places that it'd be good to improve or build depth, but if we got healthy and everything else stayed the same, but we got a legitimate QB, we're a ton better than we have been of late. We'd look more like we did in the opening weeks of the season.

With that ... I say we package both firsts and whatever else we have to in order to move up - IF, and ONLY IF, the guy we want is available. No pressing the panic button because there is a run on QB's and we're afraid of missing out on 'a' guy. If we're not getting 'THE' Guy, then we just need to accept that it ain't happening and we should move onto a Plan B. We need to be completely done and over with the notion of taking a position because we're afraid of missing out on something.... make a plan, and stick to the plan!

Shanahan believes that the scheme can get receivers open, and we don't need those "#1 receiver" types. he would rather have several very good #2 types, who can spread the field.

I would almost bet money that we do not take a receiver in the 1st round. Maybe in the late 2nd to 3rd .... but I just can't see them taking a receiver high in the draft. It seems to go against their team philosophy.

I hear you, but this is a terrible, terrible year to draft a QB.

Last year was a pretty good year. We just took the wrong guy.

I feel the biggest off season priorities are as follows.

#1 - Quarterback. This team needs either a franchise QB or a true NFL starting caliber QB. Need to have a QB that throws more touchdowns than picks. This year the offense produced 16 rushing touchdowns. Imagine if they throw for 20 what could have been.

#2 - Run defense. Playoff teams do not allow 150 to 200 yard rushing in games. That needs to be shored up for the defense to be playoff caliber. Issue is the coaches have to decide what was the main issue that caused the poor run defense. OLB's that could not set the edge? Nose Tackle that could not hold their ground in the middle? DE's that were not stout at the point of attack? ILB's that did not read and react quick enough?

#3 - Pass Rush. Once a defense stops the run then it needs to get after the QB to force bad throws and turnovers. The Browns have a good secondary if they can improve the pass rush they could force more turnovers and control games with the secondary.

#4 - Offensive line depth. Winning the line of scrimmage consistently and putting the offense in good down and distance will make the QB, RB's, and WR's that much better. Need to maintain consistency even after injuries because this is football and unfortunately they will happen.

#5 - Wide Receiver. This team simply just cannot count on Josh Gordon. Need to have production outside so defenses cannot just stack the box to shut down our run and play action pass. If Gordon gets his head on straight then this player is just another added weapon.

These issues need to get addressed in free agency and the draft. This team has good pieces and a few additions they could contend for the AFC North.

If we had NFL Caliber QB Play.. Not even Elite.. But Above Average QBing..

We would of won the Division this year..

I know everyone wants to build a perfect team with great depth... But the best way to win in the NFL is to have a Good QB.. Everything else just seems to fall into place after that...

I get tired of hearing this stuff.

Imagine better special teams play, i.e. missed fieldgoals. That in itself adds 2 wins. Boom, we're 9-7. Add in just 2 defensive stops against the steelers and colts - that's 2 more wins. Bam, We're 11-5. Yet people want to put it on the qb?

Here's a clue: It is a TEAM game. Period. You want to say "Oh, if only the O would've gotten one more first down in X Y games, we'd have won."? True. Same can be said for the D. And field goals? Please........make them. They weren't 50 yarders.

How is saying "If we had a good Quaterback we would of won more games" any worse, or even different.. then saying "If we changed certain points in history but everything else stayed the same we would of won more games" ?

Obviously, QB is the biggest need on this team. I look at a team like the Colts, and I can only shake my head. Their team is not good, outside of Luck and Hilton. I heard their Oline might play ok sometimes. Another example is the Steelers. They have 'berger and the Pushoff King, but they also have Bell. Those teams are only good because they have franchise QBs.

Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be the year for a QB. Given that, I say we take a shotgun approach. Bring in at least 1 FA QB (if that's just Hoyer, then so be it), and draft at least one QB. The class is pretty weak, and there are a number of teams ahead of us that need a QB, so I don't see us taking one in the first round.

After QB, we need a little help on D. I think we need help along the defensive line and linebacker. That may sound weird, but I think this defense would be MUCH improved if we find suitable replacements for Taylor and/or Rubin. Also, I'm assuming that Sheard will leave in FA to be a 4-3 DE for another team, so I would want to draft his replacement high (that also would hopefully force Mingo out of a starting role). Draft a project ILB to be Dansby's understudy.

The other position I would want to draft high (1st round, if the right guy is there) is WR. I know Shanny isn't into blue chip WRs, but we need to position ourselves to move on from Gordon. Also, aside from QB, WR1 is the main area where we are lacking talent on our offense. Just go and get "the guy" at WR, and let the smurfs take care of the rest.

Other than that, grab safety, corner, more dline and oline depth, and do it by BPA.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

I agree. There were holes all over the place this year. There were breakdowns all over the place, as well. It was not just about the QB position.

The second Bengal game was very discouraging. Freaking J. Hill bad-mouths us after the first game and then we let him come out and punk us in the second meeting. He made our defenders look like little school girls. It made me sick that we had no pride in stopping a loud mouth. The Bengals dominated us on both sides of the ball all day long. They physically dominated us and we took it.

There's more, but that is enough for now.

That had nothing to do with anything other than Manziel.

There is nothing wrong with the talent on this team, and ThatGuy is correct ... better QB play gets us into the playoffs. This is not rocket science. There is a reason that QB is the most important position in ALL of sports.

The team did not play for Manziel. They threw in the towel. They couldn't have been more disinterested in the Cincy game. In all my years of watching football, I've never been able to see quit in real-time, but I didn't need any replays to see it that day. It was as obvious as the sky is blue. The events of the last few weeks and days and comments by players do nothing but confirm this.

Whether it was Hoyer sucking or the team not playing for Manziel, better QB play gets us into the playoffs easily. It's just that simple.

This is not rocket science.

Exactly. Look at the teams in the playoffs - the only two that do not have QB's I would take in a heartbeat are Cincy and Arizona. Elite QB's find a way to win.

I disagree w/you completely.

It's a convenient excuse to blame one player for the entire team getting punked, but it is still BS.

Heck, it would be worse for us if what you say is true. No true competitor would ever lay down because of one player on the team. Guys like that are losers and we would be even in more trouble than are in now if what you are saying was true.

I blame the bengals game on the refs. Whenver the D made a stop, they made these insane calls. When the O made anything positive they found a way to take it. I aint much of one for blaming the refs but come on, we had a horsecollar called on us when he wasnt even pulled down from behind.

Anyway we have some tough decisions to make.

What do we do with the DL? this was supposed to be our greatest strength but everyone was injured. big phil pulled up in conditioning drills. Desmond did nothing the first 10 weeks. Rubin is a shadow of himself. Winn missed most of the year. Armonty (i thought was our best pass rusher) lost for year. Hughes damn near missed all year. Kitchen also went down for awhile. No one in the draft I am super high on.

Backers? We really need that blind side pass rusher. I realy like Dupree from UK.

Secondary, we are in good shape but we probably will part ways with Buster. I really was impressed with Desir in this last game. this was someone who was about as soft as they come and he was really physical at the line and they had trouble beating his jam.

Love K1. May be the best slot guy we have had since the return. Gipson and Whitner make this a pretty damn good group. OO and we have that guy Haden. Gilbert will have a tough time beating Desir.

Offense i wouldnt draft a QB but I wouldnt mind doubling down with someone with some upside to compete with Johnny.

OL we have no depth at all. This was the best line in football until we lost Mac. we gotta get some dpth in here.

Receivers, I will be honest, if we released everyone but Gabriel, I would not complain. I feel we really need to go hard after that #1 receiver. Its a good draft for them.

We really need a punter and a return specialist. Havent had a decent return since cribbs left and we havent had a good punter since Zasterdill.

I will counter that Arizonas' playoff run was determined when they had good (Palmer) or adequate (Stanton) QB play.

That is the difference between playoffs and sitting at home.

Until the Browns find a QB, they will struggle. don't lose sight of that.

Most of the teams that made it into the playoffs are not looking for their next QB.

Most of the teams that did not make it into the playoffs are in search of a QB, or waiting for their QB to develop.

There will be no playoffs. Can’t play with who we have out there and compounding it with garbage playcalling and worse execution. We don’t have good skill players on offense period. Browns 20 - Bears 17.

No one should have an ounce of faith in a guy who just drafted Gilbert and Manziel. It's almost as bad as the clowns that drafted Tbust and Weeds.

I think we are fine with Dray and Barnage at TE. If we don't resign Cameron, we can pull in another late round flier. We don't need RB as we have a West and Crowell who played well for rookies last year and will most likely improve with a healthy Mack on the line. We are also fine with our current crop of CBs, they are all young and gelling. If we go QB, we most likely pull in someone from one of our 4ths to develop unless they are sold on Shaw. Our biggest need is WR, ILB/OLB, and OL depth.

I could see us packaging both firsts to move up and snag Cooper given Gordon's current status with the team.

Funny how that worked.

Charger, that was my point exactly.

We competely agree.

Vers, as Charger aptly put it...not one single team entering the playoffs is looking for their QB of the future. And some on here want to question whether or not better QB play gets us in the playoffs? It always amazes me how complicated people make this.

As for laying fown in the CIncy game, I thought that was obvious. Players are humans who are subjected to the same range of emotions as you and I are. They don't respect Manziel and didnt feel,he earned it. They didn't believe they had any chance to win out with him. They didn't play for him. They didn't try. They weren't focused. This isn't some big revelation. Watch the game again if you need confirmation.

If they laid down, they should be cut now. You can't win w/losers.

Well it starts with joe Thomas.

He had a terrible game as bad as the rest of them.

#12 - Jaelen Strong - Wide Receiver/Arizona State
#19 - Danny Shelton - Nose Tackle/Washington

Just for fun I'll do the rest...

2nd Round - Connor Cook - Quarterback/Michigan State **(if he declares)**
3rd Round - Markus Golden - Defensive End/Missouri
4th Round - Eric Kendricks - Middle Linebacker/UCLA
4th Round - Stefan Diggs - Kick Returner/Maryland
5th Round - Warren Harring - Defensive Tackle/Wisconsin
6th Round - Jalston Fowler - Fullback/Alabama
6th Round - Jared Roberts - Kicker/Colorado State
7th Round - Michael Dyer - Runningback/Louisville (*Injury/character issues, no risk in the 7th round though*)

If Connor Cook doesn't declare for the draft...

2nd Round - T.J. Clemmings Right Tackle/Pittsburgh

Ignoring needs for now This is a classic BPA draft for us. I think we'll be rewarded for being disciplined and showing restraint. If we trade at all it's down and not far and only for a great deal. I'd prefer to stay put.

This draft's 1st round strengths are OT, DT, DE, OLB & WR. I think we get BPA RT and slide Schwartz inside or retain for depth. OL depth was perhaps our 3rd or 4th biggst issue this year and it could get worse next year. We need to find decent center depth somewhere as well. The other pick we need a run stopping DT. I don't know a single position on defense that potentially alters our trajectory more than an effective run stopper in the middle.

I'd be cool with DE or WR as well. We need size at WR. We've got speedsters. We need a Boldin type big, 3rd down, sideline, ball fighter.

I'm not in favor of any QB this year. I haven't reviewed most in depth yet but the ones I know are not it. We showed that when our running game is sound and our defense stops the run we can win with a mediocre QB. Voter isn't great but he's good for the team and the best transitional guy available. Keep his pocket clean and give him a halfway decent running game and he's a different QB. Unfortunately there's just nothing better than mediocrity available to us this year IMO.

I seriously doubt my draft opinion will change much this year. In years past I remember having no idea where to start. This year I feel like I have a very good idea of how we get over the hump. We can address 3 or 4 of our issues this year in the draft and another 1 or 2 in FA and, combined with Hoyer, I think that takes us from 7-9 on a soft schedule to 9-7 with a tough one.

#12 - Parker, WR or Oakman, DE
#19 - White, WR, Shelton, DT, Stanley, OT, Coates, WR, Green-Beckmann, WR

Of course each round depends on the previous one for selection.

Just for fun, show me an all offensive side of the ball draft. I know it ain't going to happen, but that's what I want to see.

Hey, the Browns have not drafted all offensive players in 1 draft in at least 20 tries, and they haven't won two post season games in over 60 years.

I'm wishing for an all offensive side of the ball draft.
It can' work, you can get positional, role players that don't push the good players you have off the roster anyway. Besides, what draft pick could start on this Browns defense anyway.

Show me an all offensive draft.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.
