I mean the original.

The guy you could count on seeing on TV every Browns home game.

Was his name John Thompson?

I once got down to the first row at the end zone and convinced his "entourage" (more like body guards) to let me say "Hi" to him.

I had a magic marker and Big Dawg autographed my forearm.

I tried to get to a tattoo parlor but our flight back to Connecticut was 3 hours after the game. (and it was Sunday).

It was comforting to always see him on TV. I hope he is well.

The last I remember of him was that he lost a lot of weight. Not sure if it was by Design or illness. that was a long time ago.

He had bariatric surgery.

I had a couple run ins with him, and he is a douche bag. Rocks story does not surprise me. The last time I saw him my ex wife had went to bingo in Fairview Park and it turned out he was getting paid an appearance fee and it was "such and such church Bingo featuring John Big Dawg Thompson"

You were going to have them tattoo his autograph on your arm?

I've heard that as well(surgery and D-bag).

Whenever the cameras pan the front row of the dawgpound I thought I have seen him??? albeit as skinny as skinny gets.

I know I've posted this opinion before, so sorry for being repetitious, but all I remember is this blubbering tubbo boo-hooing in front of a Congressional hearing when the Browns moved. This guy was chosen by someone to represent Browns' fans in front of the nation? Really? GTFOH!

Met him once.

He was a tool.

Bone Lady on the other hand, contrary to popular opinion, was incredibly nice and friendly to us.

^^ I always avoided both Big Dawg and Bone Lady if I could. I heard she could be a real biotch.

At the thought of John Thompson having an entourage - a posse, for crying out loud ... lmao.

At the thought of RockyHillDawg considering getting a tattoo of Big Dawg's autograph on his arm ... facepalm.

I met Bone lady once, a very long time ago, and only in passing. We didn't talk much, but she seemed nice enough.

We know someone who was invited to go to a dinner with the Bone Lady. They said she was really loud and obnoxious and pulling the whole "do you know who I am?" deal. That had to be hilarious.

I met Big Dawg before he was Big Dawg. He used to come down with a group from Cleveland to OSU when I was going to school there. He went to high school with some Cleveland people I hung out with at OSU and they would come down a couple of times a year to visit. He was okay, a nice enough guy. I guess the fame went to his head. LOL.

I never met Big Dawg, at least that I can recall.

He was enshrined as a fan in some fashion in the Hall of Fame, or something. (as was Bone Lady, IIRC)

When I was a kid, I had a friend who had a Great Dane. That dog was like a horse. I was probably 6 or 7 at the time .... so he really did look like a horse.

He was the gentlest dog ever though. It was almost like he knew that he could hurt someone if he moved wrong, so he made sure he never did.

Big dog? Imagine laying in a bean field, shooting wood chucks, and 2 St. Bernards come up behind you.

Now, I'm 6'2", right around 200 lbs.

I knew their owner - he lives a mile north of me. We were 1/2 mile from my house and 1/2 mile from their house. They proceeded to follow me back to their house....

I ended up taking pics with them. Me kneeling, them sitting. The one's head was more than twice the size of my head. As I'm kneeling, he leaned against me. I was thinking "he might break my femur."

Now THOSE are big dogs. Friendly to a fault, but they are big!

Thanks guys. First time I heard negative opinions on Big Dawg.

"I tried to get to a tattoo parlor but our flight back to Connecticut was 3 hours after the game. (and it was Sunday)."

In my defense:

1) I was very inebriated (gee ya thyink?)
2) It was early in Big Dawg's "career" - he was nice enough to me. (remember I was a drunk stranger and Big Dawg's "friends" would have not hesitated it dispatch me)

I love St. Bernards and Old English Sheepdogs as well.. they are fun, friendly and when groomed properly, they are beautiful dogs.. Both are pretty smart as well..

Had an Old English a life time ago, great dog.. loved him to death..

As for Big Dog Thompson, I hadn't heard one word about him being a turd of any kind. I did think he was a little over the top and a bit of a media hog,, but that's about it.

don't know much about the Bonelady except to say I can't stand listening to her on Tailgate 19 on WOIO

We have two Great Danes, a Goldendoodle who weighs 88 lbs, and a Poodlepointer [the runt] who weighs about 62 lbs.

In fact, the poodlepointer is how I got my user name. They are a rare "versatile" hunting dog that is steady to the gun, good at pointing, have great endurance, and will retrieve birds from water sources. They are rare and I had to go to North Dakota to get her and then sign a contract that I would not breed her unless she passed certain field tests.

Oh, and we have an outdoor cat, too.

My dog is a great American mutt. rofl He has some Pit, some Lab, Some German Shepherd, a lot of Hound, and something with a black tongue.

He is about 120#. I have a queen sized bed, and when he spreads himself up, he can pretty much take up half the bad. (or more) crazy rofl

He's starting to get a little older now though, and has one knee that is not bad yet, but it doesn't need any more pressure on it than necessary. I had a set of steps made for him so he could climb up on the bed, instead of having to jump up. He does not trust new things, so it took him a few days to figure out that they were a pretty good idea. I should put him on a major diet, but he has me trained far too well. crazy lol

Black tongue?

My guess: Chow Chow

And yes... weight restriction would be a great idea. He'll adjust. He'll also enjoy a longer life with less pain if you do. It's the humane thing to do, even if he initially bugs you for more calories!

Sounds like a big, lovable lug.

Dog are the greatest.

Oftentimes, mutts are the best dogs.

Just so you know, the two Great Danes are not really mine. They were my daughters, but she moved into an apartment and they would not allow such big dogs. Now we have 4 big dogs. Yippee.........

Had the same type of experience as others here. Obnoxious D-bag. I was at a BW3 while we had no team in the 90s and it just happened he sat down next to me with 3 in tow. When trying to discuss the absence of the Browns he did the whole I talked to Congress thing and he told me he knew for a fact we were not getting an expansion team, but a relocated team. I'm 90% certain it was the Colts he said we were going to get. I recall debating him about it making zero sense with what had just transpired. My opinion was it was going to be a new team or no team at all. I eventually just stopped, got up and left because of his d-baggery.

His ego is bigger than his waistline.thats saying quite abit.
would love to find that pic of crying in front of the suits when the Browns moved.
the guy is a loser.

We had the opportunity to go see he Buckeyes play Florida in the Gator Bowl a couple of years ago. We ended up with pretty good seats on the 25 down near the field.

My kids, who were 8 and 5 at the time, spotted the "Buckeye Guy" down in the front row. They were excited because they recognized him from games that we watched on TV.

We took them down and asked if we could get a picture with him. He was an absolute douchebag. He never got close to the kids and wouldn't look at my wife because he was worried about where the cameras and cheerleaders were.

It's funny how some of these fans think they are famous as the guys that put on the uniforms.

John Adams, on the other hand was great!! He did this:

I had a dog that was Rottweiler and lab... also with a black tongue I asked the vet if part chow and he said no Lab's can have black tongues also.

Best dog I ever had looked like a Rott and had personality of Lab. never made a sound unless there was something in yard or something wrong.

His looks terrified people, pizza delivery guys would call from their car and ask me to come out and get the pizza.. lol. He was so gentle, never hurt a fly.

Damn he was smart, we got a full blown lab when Aragorn passed and that was probably the dumbest dog I ever had, gently disposed but dumb, damn she was dumb.
