I would say this...they have drafted only 4 QBs in the first round EVER- and do 1 per decade , LOL. can anyone name them? I got 1 right... 1964 - Jack Concannon [Technically they were the Boston Patriots back then] 1971 - Jim Plunkett - I did not know this but I remember him playing in Oakland as a kid and SB XV as the first Wildcard team 1983 - Tony Eason - ( same year as Marion, Elway, Jim Kelly) - Eason Beat Marino in SB XX 1993 - Drew Bledsoe - Took them to a losing effort in SB XXXI I say whatever formula they use at drafting QB's in the first round - it is more valuable that the secret Coca-Cola formula!

No offense, but the Browns have had only two seasons since 1999 where they had winning records. Just stop comparing us to teams like New England.

We do it almost every year regardless of who the clown is in the GM chair. Your statement is false. Thomas, Mac, Hayden and Taylor are all successful picks. Quinn was a bust and Richardson was a bust that resulted in another 1st round pick. The jury is still out on Mingo, Gilbert and Manziel.

William Green? Timid? Big Money? Courtney Brown? Leon? K2? BQ? Weeden? TRich? Gilbert? Manziel?
And did you really say Taylor was a successful pick? I wouldn't be surprised if he is cut in the near future.

You simply CANNOT afford to miss with number 1 picks no matter how inexperienced or experienced you are!!!!!!!!!!!!! Name 1 team that has not missed on a pick. Even the Pats miss on picks. When????????????? We do it almost every year regardless of who the clown is in the GM chair. here is the last 10 years..Not sure how to grade them?? 2004 21 Vince Wilfork DT Miami (FL) 2004 32 Benjamin Watson TE Georgia 2005 32 Logan Mankins OG Fresno State 2006 21 Laurence Maroney RB Minnesota 2007 24 Brandon Meriweather S Miami (FL) 2008 10 Jerod Mayo LB Tennessee 2009 No first-round draft pick 2010 27 Devin McCourty CB Rutgers 2011 17 Nate Solder OT Colorado 2012 21 Chandler Jones DE Syracuse 2012 25 Dont'a Hightower LB Alabama 2013 No first-round draft pick 2014 29 Dominique Easley DT Florida
Well .... we look at the players. Easley: 10 tackles, 1 sack. Hightower: Starting OLB, and quality player. Jones: 23.5 sacks in 3 seasons. Solder: 60 of n53 possible games started. McCourty: 5 year starter.17 INT and 58 passes defensed in 5 seasons. I am not going to continue. They do OK at the top of the draft, especially considering that they trade down in the 1st a great deal. Their 2nd round picks include: 2014: Garappolo 2013: Collins: 116 tackles, 4 sacks, 3 passes defensed in 2013: Aaron Dobson 2012: Tavon Wilson: Fair 2011: Dowling: struggled in 3 years 2011: Vereen: Excellent receiver out of the backfield. 2010: Gronkowski: Umm ...... 2010: Cunningham: Umm .... not much here. 2010: Brandon Spikes: Moved on to Bills after 4 productive years. 2009: Chung: 5 year starter for Pats, left for Eagles, and returned after one season. 2009: 4 seasons of backup duty 2009: Useful backup for Pats, Carolina, Indy, and Colts. 2009: Volmer: Solid starter, though injured a lot. I would say that they do a great job considering how much they trade down, and the fact that they are always drafting at the bottom of the draft.

The fact of the matter is, when you have a successful plug-and-play system (or in Belichick's case, you can fit a system to your personnel), it's a lot easier to hit on picks, and bring in quality FA's, therefore negating the damage of a botched pick.
The organization matters as much, and at times more, than the player.
If we'd taken Tom Brady in the 6th instead of Spergon Wynn, there's a much higher probability that he'd be selling cars in Ann Arbor right now than there would be him leading us to a bunch of Super Bowls.

I won't necessarily disagree with most of that. As far as Brady, let's not forget that the Pats were hardly established when he started. The Pats had signed a bunch of B grade (or lower) free agents, and lost their starting QB early on. The Pats were 5-11 the year before, in Belichick's 1st year. I think that Brady was Brady, and the thing that he got in New Englad was a shot, and importantly, a shot in a system that fit him like a glove.

The patriots and steelers are two prime examples of extablished franchises who have the luxary of consistant coaching over a long period of time. This allows them to draft through a bad or mediocre year and periodically retool thier team by drafting players that FIT thier systems.
When you have constant turn over at the GM and coaching positions then drafts will always bust because by the time the GM figures out the best possible way to draft players that fit what the coaches want and need they are fired and we start all over again. At least you would HOPE the GM would draft players the coaches wants unlike the crap chud and norv had to deal with.
Let petine have 4-5 years and I will bet that by that 4th year the draft and the team is doing a LOT better.

Not to mention that everyone in their system knows what kind of players they want, and what kind of players fit. They don't waste a lot of time looking at guys who do not fit their system, even if they might fit well elsewhere. They kind of "undervalue" their late 1st round picks, trying to add value by moving down for adding additional draft picks in place of those low 1st rounders. It is hard to say that they are wrong.

And yes, New England has done better, but to be the drama queen as you started is different than grading them over 10 years. When?????????????

The statement was that "We do it almost every year..." In recent history, we have been fairly successful, particularly going back to a point in time where the players selected are still playing in the league. Everyone knows there was a string of years with a string of failures, but that is clearly not the case for the past seven or eight years or so. It's a blanket statement and false perception that is untrue. Taylor is a successful pick, filling the middle and stuffing the run. Even Wimbley had a successful career, though obviously not a stellar one. Not every first rounder is going to be a pro bowler.

I have never understood the love affair w/Phil Taylor, other than Heckert drafted him.
The guy is continually out of shape, has generated very little pressure on the passer, has been part of one of the worst run defenses in the entire NFL, can't stay healthy, plays a low percentage of plays even when he is healthy, etc.
He's been a dud and he better change his ways. Quickly.

Mike Pettine's season was "solid" -- Bud Shaw's Sports Spin CLEVELAND, Ohio – Doug Marrone, high on Jimmy Haslam's list two years ago, is already gone in Buffalo. The bridge behind him looks like the inner belt detonation.
Ken Whisenhunt, who was a repeat head coaching candidate in Berea, took a 7-9 team to 2-14 in his first year in Tennessee.
Chip Kelly, whose interview with Haslam and Joe Banner lasted longer than a coal-miner's overtime shift and shed almost as much light on his intentions, just pulled off a power grab after missing the playoffs in Philadelphia.
Head coach hunting is tough sport.
For that and other more complimentary reasons, Mike Pettine's first season looks better the more distance we gain from his stumbling finish.
The catchword in this organization, if you haven't noticed, is "solid." Solid foundation. Ray Farmer searching for a solid quarterback and solid wide receivers.
By that definition, Pettine looks like a solid head coach in the making, with solid support from his GM and at least a solid pat on the back from his owner.
Low bar? Sure, but still one this organization hasn't cleared in years of limbo. And there is the hint of a lot more growth from Pettine, who doesn't appear to let ego get in his way.
There were mistakes and troubling developments but that's expected. Pettine's first year coincided with Farmer's first draft. That's probably two too many firsts to expect "solid" to tilt toward "spectacular" in a league that tests every aspect of an organization for its weak spots.
We're not sure if Pettine trusted too much in his offensive coaches in naming Johnny Manziel the starter for the Cincinnati game. Or if his own eyes misled him into believing Manziel was – using the coach's word -- "absolutely" ready for the biggest game of the year against the division-leading Bengals who also just happened to be coming into town holding a grudge the size of Paul Brown Stadium. Browns' Mike Pettine on the decision to start Johnny Manziel vs. Bengals Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine talks about the decision to start Johnny Manziel over Brian Hoyer at quarterback against the Bengals. Pettine said “I’d be a liar if I said I wasn’t excited to see him play.”
Why were Manziel and Justin Gilbert still sloughing off 16 games into the season? That has to be answered more definitively than Farmer's explanation that people mature on different time schedules.
Other than a few assistant coaching changes, Pettine's staff should return fairly intact. (Unless Kyle Shanahan somehow turns two lackluster seasons in different cities into a head coaching job)
Browns' GM Ray Farmer on the 2014 season, Mike Pettine and the performance of his 1st draft Cleveland Browns General Manager Ray Farmer shares his thoughts on the 2014 season, the job that first year head coach Mike Pettine did and the performance of the players he drafted this year.
Again, small praise but important nonetheless. We need only look southeast to Pittsburgh to see the most recent example of the value of stability.
A year ago, after another playoff miss, Todd Haley's belongings were being sized up for a shipping crate, and talk of Dick LeBeau was moving from "legendary" to "aging."
The Steelers' idea of a fix was to bring former head coach Mike Munchak into coach the offensive line.
Haslam had some experience watching how the Steelers do it, right?
The way Pettine carried himself in his first season, and the early results when Brian Hoyer was at his best, showed Pettine is worth the time investment.
Of the seven new head coaches in 2014, he finished in the black at plus-3 in wins. Not quite Bill O'Brien (plus-7 in Houston) or Jim Caldwell (plus-4 to 11 wins in Detroit) but a far cry from Whisenhunt (minus-5) and Lovie Smith (minus-2).
Next year's rotation brings an AFC North on the upswing (Baltimore, Cincy and Pittsburgh all coming off playoff seasons), plus the AFC West and NFC West.
While those opponents clearly look more muscled than the NFC South lightweights who emerged on the Browns' 2014 schedule, it's way too early to play that schedule game.
The Browns, at their best this season, dominated Pittsburgh and Cincinnati once each by a combined 55-13. They don't award playoff spots on the basis of your best two games but it's unfair to suggest the way the season finished ruined everything that went before.
In some other cities throwing out the head coaching nets, the discussion is whether to wait on Seattle defensive coordinator Dan Quinn or Denver offensive coordinator Adam Gace. Sound familiar?
Or whether Doug Marrone was in a bad situation in Buffalo or trumped one up in exercising the out clause in his contract.
The Browns didn't fire a head coach this year. That's the lowest bar of all to measure organizational growth.
But, better, Mike Pettine didn't give them a reason.

general reply to all...
Why are we comparing farmer, who had 1 draft, to a guy like Belichick who has had way more than 10?
The draft is a crapshoot at best. Maybe we should just let these guys do their jobs for a bit?

Agreed. All GMs whiff from time to time. However, they know when to cut ties when it doesn't work out and also find talent throughout the draft and FA. Manziel was a gamble in what is already a crapshoot. Gilbert has a season, maybe two, to prove his worth. Anything else is hyperbole to fit an opinion. Like the above

The fact of the matter is, when you have a successful plug-and-play system (or in Belichick's case, you can fit a system to your personnel)
The organization matters as much, and at times more, than the player. It's like a chicken & egg question - which one comes first? Seems like we need to lock down the FO/GM/coaching staff, have them all united on the type of football we are going to play and then begin to draft/bring in players that match that scheme. Starting from scratch means you will always be lacking depth - imo. Seems like the top teams over the past decade (debatable) are Patriots, Colts, Ravens, Steelers, Packers, maybe Eagles? If you sat in their draft head quarters, how does their room differ from ours? People talk about knowing the system and what players fit, so why can't we do that, or do we and we just don't the system mature enough?

I wouldn't call my appreciation for what Taylor does a "love affair". He usually occupies two blockers and when he's not in there the run defense suffers even more.

I was not directing negativity only towards Farmer, but the whole list of GM's we have had. I have no agenda. His first round score is an F for now, but that grade is fluid.
Let's see what Farmer does in 2015. God help us.

None taken. but Taylor does not occupy two defenders. I would hope not, since he plays on defense. I also disagree w/you about our run defense and think that both Holmes and Kitchen do a better job of holding their ground than Taylor does. I'm wondering if you mean Hughes. Kitchen is usually at nose, I believe, while Taylor has been moved out to end, which brings up an interesting point. I think Taylor is playing out of position since he was moved to end, but overall I still like the rotation of he & Wynn and feel that when everyone is healthy, it's a pretty good D-line especially when Taylor plays inside. (I don't know what happened with Rubin this year, I read he was having ankle and/or personal issues.) Point being, and to bring this full circle, I don't see Taylor as a first round bust, (though I recognize that some on the board do). JMHO

1. Missed Picks...come back to me heck even the end of the 2015 season and tell me so I'd be more apt to agree or disagree. Did the first two picks failed to provide impact? Yes, if we didn't had some successes that would have been terrible. Bitonio, Kirksey, West, Williams CB, Crowell, Gabriel. Judge him on his draft class not on the first two picks who still could provide success.
2. What all should remember. Not going to tell you my way or the highway. Just remember. The depressed AURA this team had after the Regime change. There was so much to do by Pettine to circumvent that attitude/character within the team. We had young players who just didn't know what to think. Were confused and had nothing to play for as it was all stripped. Pettine and his staff turned that around. Got all to believe in the BROWNS and being proud to be a Brown.
Injuries and the total reversal of our starting QBs MOJO put a hamper. Yeah we finished badly in record. Most of the games we were in it. The Defense actually got better and Manning up with reserves in the process. Our QB play simply went south. Even the last game we had them even or close to even going into the 4th qtr with a practice squad QB.
This is THE BEST (tied with Butch) first year season as a HC the Browns had and he took us from a position of such low. After 6 straight seasons of losing 4-5 games. We are to compare it with those coaches?
All I'm asking is for fans to remember the state of disarray we were in 12 months ago. How we were the laughing stock of the NFL. We actually were relevant end of Nov. beginning of Dec.
Pettine and Farmer perfect? Not close, but showed to have some excellent abilities in their task along the way. I also think there is a genuine connection between the two so there will be no POWER Struggle it looks from here to be One for all and All for one! Like rookies they should definitely PROGRESS.
We have an excellent foundation to build on. $$$ for FA, Mack, Gipson, Bryant, Taylor coming back from injury. Others with nagging injuries, Haden played the last few games injured, etc. The Natural progression of Rookies and 2nd year players.
Most of all we will have Continuity in our O n D systems where all will now not have to learn the plays but LEARN HOW TO EXECUTE the plays, those of you who have coached on any level should understand this. Most of you as intelligent Football fans get it. Remember when Colt was a rookie - Yeah he KNEW THE PLAYS...but executing them on the field of play are two different things. I believe Mangini explained that to all. Well we get year two to build on.
I just hope we give up on this Read Option for Manziel. Unless we get a 240-250 lb QB to run it. Even them will get killed.
jmho

Ok, Pettine I support. Some have other ideas.
I guess it is time to pull out Ray Farmer.
The mission statement for the Browns after the end of 2013 from Haslam, Banner, Lombardi and Farmer was find a quarterback. Banner knew it had to happen and positioned draft picks to make it happen. The record was clear everybody was on the same page.
There was talk about a 25 year study on NFL quarterbacks etc. So after Banner and Lombardi were shown the exit sign "The Mission" was on Farmer.
Please someone tell me how Mnaziel carried a first round grade by Farmer? Farmer has stated that Haslam did not make the decision. ( If Haslam did shame on Farmer).
How does a sub six foot, two year stater, from a spread offense, who depended upon running (check stats) carry a first round grade?
Remember what Ron Jawarski. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/201...to-third-round/
Jawarski a former pro quarterback who has spent the last 25+ years covering and studying the position. He was not alone in his analysis.
So here comes the draft and although the opinions on Manziel varied questions about him remained.
Still Farmer trades up to get him and passes on Bridgewater, Carr, and Garoppolo.
The draft began and ended there. He signs Tate and trades up for West. Gilbert the Browns first pick has done nothing.
The consistent thread with Gilbert, Manziel and West is work ethic. Three players brought in to be foundation players and all three have a problem with taking "their jobs" seriously. How is that possible? That is a huge part of scouting.
Yet because Farmer makes a good selection with Bitionio it is all ok? Kirksey and Desir not a bad picks either. But so what. That is expected. They were not pro bowlers. They made the team and contributed. Isn't that supposed to happen?
Please do not tell me about undrafted free agents who made the team and contributed. Their success comes from them not Ray Farmer. *Note. Understand how undrafted players get on and make a team.
It is not ok to miss on Gilbert and Manziel. Yes, teams do miss on first rounders it happens but it should not. That is what you are paid to do.
The first two rounds are the top 64 players in the whole country. You have tons of resources, money and staff committed just to scouting.
Maybe the bar is so low given all the draft failure by the Browns that people are so forgiving.
I am not forgiving. I knew that going into the draft that the Browns were in a position to make a quantum leap or fall back.
When you miss a first round quarterback it is not like other positions. You lose two to four years to find out you missed. And that does not take in to consideration what you passed on.
Sammy Watkins, Teddy Bridgewater, Odell Beckman, CJ Mosely.
On top of it all Ray Farmer has gall to make statements like: "you don't need elite play at quarterback just solid play", Johnny can be a solid starter in this league", " I won't hesitate to draft a quarterback in the first round."
What?
At this point I know Farmer is safe because Haslam hired him. He is not going to admit his mistake this early.
Ray Farmer is arrogant, unbending, weak or incompetent.
He will either have to learn from his mistakes or the Browns are on another long road of failure.
The Browns failures has a team are in direct correlation to their failures in the draft.

1. I don't know - I cannot go by rumors I think there is something from our QB coach, but what exactly is it. I've heard accounts of it but not seen the quotes.
Still I don't understand your quip about if Haslam insisted Shame on Farmer??? Why, so you saying he should have resigned or got fired? Again I don't know if it happened but don't see how that is on Farmer if it did?
When was the last time you went against the Owner of a business? would you risk your life's dream job?
Let's now assume it was Farmer's pick.
Funny how so many views can differ. All of a sudden everyone is an expert on draft picks. Manziel obviously sucks is no good is a bust is a waste of 22nd pick even if it was the teams 2nd first round pick.
Graffola is now an obvious better QB? CARR?
Teddy I can believe it - don't know what happened with that stupid pro day but that threw many off.
JM...can still become a great QB. Without a doubt I was as disappointed as all fans were from the brief but still bad bad outings. 5 or almost 6 quarters? I didn't like the new offense for the Browns forget Manziel - I thought the entire team was lost with it? Still it was a horrible outing.
We are to ignore his prior 12 minutes of play cause some claim - can't be judged cause it was against a team all be it playing for their LIVES...let him score to make the game close.
Sub 6 ft (all be it a 1/4 of an inch) just means he has to explode into a deeper drop than taller QBs. That should not be his problem. If he gets it down, get comfortable in the system and the drops. he will be fine.
But now its known to all he sucks. Of course you take the absolute worst evaluations of Manziel and pose it as the Bible. I saw top 5 pick to terrible reviews. I saw many debating (analyst not fans) on if Manziel should be the overall #1 pick.
Its the first pick we made that could have been better, but I think he was trying to appease his coach in getting what he wanted (cover corner) - we all have our favorite picks instead. Probably Hind sight says McDonald should have been taken. But I understand the logic as he explained his pick the first week after the draft.
I was stating that Bridgewater would be the first pick in the draft not Manziel. I thought he would have been a top QB for the first pick we had but also stated I know that because he is sub 6 feet the snobbery of the NFL would have him drop. Had no clue to where just drop.
I was stunned at his showing against the Bengals. I also was on record stating I didn't want to see him play at all this season that Hoyer should start!
So I am confused as a fan now as in do we or don't we have our franchise QB. I'm at the well we cannot put all the eggs in one basket. But you wish to judge Farmer on his overall #22 QB pick in this draft? Nah I don't think thats wise at all.

By "some", do you mean "the overwhelming majority, including his head coach"? If you're of the opinion that this wasn't the case, fine, just make a coherent case that doesn't rely on assumptions. Stop acting like it's some out there fringe theory. As for the rest of it...why are you trying to make it sound like Manziel in the first being a Tebow-grade error is a hindsight opinion? A lot of people felt this way a long time ago, and listed very valid and logical opinions with evidence to back it. You can disagree, but don't make it sound like it's some hindsight trend that popped out of the woodwork, or one that's based on knee-jerk reaction. But you wish to judge Farmer on his overall #22 QB pick in this draft? Nah I don't think thats wise at all. I don't think it should serve as an all-encompassing judgement, but if a GM is off on talent evaluation to the point where they're drafting third-day talent in the first, then yeah, it's a major cause for concern.

Not to butt in here, but i really can't help it. You say we passed on... Sammy Watkins, Teddy Bridgewater, Odell Beckman, CJ Mosely. You are listing 4 players. That would be 1/8 of the first round picks or 12.5% If we picked 22nd then you would think that you would be listing 20 players that we should have picked no? Seems to me that the other 87.5% of picks weren't so hot? And you only listed 1 QB. So how is it that we are doing so bad, when it seems like everyone else is as well?

No, we do not. I don't put it all on Farmer, though. I don't know who was responsible for the pick and I don't really care at this point. I just don't think they saw a homerun in Teddy, Carr or anyone else so they went with the flashy pick, crossed their fingers and hoped for the best.

You miss the point EO.
I have consistently stated: How did Manziel carry a first round grade? There is a difference.
I have never said (if you look at any post I have made)that I have given up on Manziel or that he doesn't have talent.
Numerous times I have stated that you can not judge a player on the number of snaps that Manziel has taken. And that the key for Manziel will be how he approaches this off season.
That however, is not the point. Manziel never should have carried a first round grade.
Bridgewater (pro day irrelevant) was clearly the better prospect. Carr (who I did not like) was borderline first rounder. Garopollo was not a first rounder but was a better prospect than Manziel.
If you are hired as a GM to run the draft and you are qualified and confident in your ability then yes; you stand up to the owner and state: "you hired me to make these decisions". You have to have the mindset I will succeed or fail on my choices not someone else's.
Farmer has made claim that the choice was his. If that is not the case then he is weak.

What don't you get?
The Browns had a screaming need at wide receiver. Gordon was suspended. When BPA and the biggest need intersect you pull the trigger. Simple. Watkins was that person.
Then you had your quarterbacks rated on your Board. Manziel in the first round??? Bridgewater was available. If you didn't like him Carr was there.
Carr ( even though I did not want him) was a four year stater with size and arm, and release. He was a borderline first rounder.
The %'s you quote mean nothing.

Judging a draft after 1 year is always a dangerous thing to do.
I don't know if Manziel and/or Gilbert will develop quickly from here out or not ..... but it does happen where a player doesn't put things together till his 2nd season ...... and some guys don't mature until they have been in the league for a few years. Joe Haden was one of those guys ..... who didn't really mature until he got married. (and also until after he had been suspended for Adderall)
I would never give up on a guy after 1 season unless he had major legal issues. There have been players on the team who have said that Manziel, for example, is well liked by his teammates. That can only help him if he can dedicate himself to 100% work on his game, and learning the system inside and out.
Hopefully Gilbert will also mature and realize that this is a job, and he has to work hard if he wants to succeed.

And yet, WR actually became a team strength by the time Gordon came back. 3 of the tp 4 receiving positions on the team were at WR. We had a rookie WR go for 621 yards and a 17.3 yard/catch average. Now our WR corp did catch only 6 TD passes, but we also ran for 17 TD, which was 4th in the league. We made a decision that we weren't going to throw a lot when down close, because we could run it in. If Gabriel had been drafted in the 4th round, would he have been a good investment? I think so. This offense does not need super fast receivers. Shanahan has proved that he can get receivers open through scheme. Fans thought that WR was a dire need, but did it turn out to be? Not really. In fact, when we got our most talented WR back, he threw a monkey wrench into the whole works. I thought that Manziel was a worthwhile risk at 22. I was unsure of whether or not I wanted him with our 1st pick ..... but he seemed like a decent risk to take. Carr was supposed to be a problem child. Just goes to show how pre-draft reports can be completely wrong. Carr came in and applied himself 100% from day 1, and had a solid year. Bridgewater did the same. Manziel seems to have thought that he could get by on ability alone. Now he absolutely knows better. He will have an entire off-season to apply himself and learn this offense forwards/backwards.and inside/out. If he does, then he has at least a decent chance of success. If not, then the team will move on from him. I would hate to give up on a guy after 7 quarters of play, and while he has a guaranteed deal we have to pay anyway. I don't think that he should be handed anything, but I also don't think that we should dump him this early. QB is the single hardest position to find in the draft. That's not anything that we don't all know ..... but to say that a new GM should be dumped because his 1st QB only played 7 quarters of football, and struggled, is a little much.

I think I'm a little concerned because Manziel was just so bad. I mean, Weeden wasn't even that bad.
But you are right, it's too early to judge the kid and the same goes for Gilbert.
Gordon is another subject. he's a train wreck that's just waiting to happen. Not sure what to do with him.
I mean, we've heard all the excuses and apologies and promises from him for several years.
It's getting old and boring.
I hope the kid gets his act together, I have my doubts that he can or even wants to.
He's under contract for 1 and perhaps 2 more years so he's cheap, but if he's going to disrupt the team, that just can't be allowed to happen.

but to say that a new GM should be dumped because his 1st QB only played 7 quarters of football, and struggled, is a little much It's not an issue of Manziel struggling early so much as thinking he deserved to be taken in the first round. That's a pretty egregious lapse in judgement. And I don't think we should get rid of Farmer just yet. But it's hard to find confidence in a guy who thought Manziel was worthy of a first round pick.

1. JM...can still become a great QB. Without a doubt I was as disappointed as all fans were from the brief but still bad bad outings. According to Farmer Johnny can be "a solid starter". Even the man who drafted him wouldn't say "great".
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Even the man who drafted him wouldn't say "great". We don't need a QB to be "great" to have success, we saw that earlier this season with Brian - we just need someone who can help pick up the slack when needed to help keep the offense balanced and be consistent... consistent both on and off the field, to their teammates and to their game on the field. Sounds simple, but..........................

I would hope not, since he plays on defense. grin LOL.......that's embarrassing. It's all good Cal. Thanks for expressing your opinion in a nice way. I don't think Taylor is a bust, but we disagree about him. No big deal.
