Possibly.

But, if we go with a new offense due to Shanny leaving, Manziel would have to learn the new O as well. So, if we go to a new O, who would you place your money on as far as learning it - Hoyer, or Manziel?

Who out there is better?

Last I saw, Hoyer was still looking to be the #1 free agent QB. I don't think that has changed.

Intelligence and work ethic overcome changing schemes. Hoyer has that.

I think any move we make for a starter isn't going to come from FA.

Guys like Foles, Glennon, and even Cousins, who have shown talent, but have either fallen off, or don't matchup with what the team wants.. could be targeted..

I don't know what I'd give up for a guy like Foles, hell I don't even know if he's ACTUALLY available.. but I'd go after him.. and probably after a deal is made.. I'd say "You can have Manziel too"..And then I'd probably have to give Philly another pick..

Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

That's a great point. In that case I would completely understand going with someone who's got the edge on physical talent. I'd still suggest that Hoyer could learn a new system as fast, or faster than most of the other options presented but that doesn't make up for his average, at best arm and accuracy.

I've heard said that he needs things to be perfect for him to succeed, I don't know that, that's necessarily the case, but I do think he needs to know where everyone is going to be even if that means knowing that Cameron's going to wiff on his block so he needs to go to a hot read where as if Dray's in there he may hold the ball a bit longer. LOL

This is the biggest problem that many fans don't see. There simply are no better alternatives in terms of bringing in a veteran FA. Many (like me) have little to no confidence in Manziel starting day 1 next year. Here's a worse case scenario for you, what do you think would happen if JM did start every game next year and we finish last? Do you think the media, fans, and Haslam would allow this coaching staff to remain with the opportunity to draft their guy with the #1 spot? I ask because I'm not entirely convinced that JM was the guy this staff truly wanted and a hand was forced (regardless of what Farmer states in his pressers). I'm also convinced that other than making a splash in the draft, JM was brought in to put more people in the bleachers and more national coverage.

I am not sure why Glennon is being so heralded here.

I agree w/this. I don't think this guy will be a successful NFL QB and from what I have read, Tampa Bay doesn't either.

A lot of posters build up guys like Glennon, Locker, Cutler, etc. Heck, I have been guilty of it myself.

The only guy who might be a transition qb for us that might be out there is Schwaub. Well, maybe Sanchez. Neither will be long term answers, but might be a 1 year bridge to our next qb.

My biggest thought...

Let's say Shannahan leaves...
Our next OC is on the staff...Dowell Loggains was brought in to be the OC when Kyle leaves. It is/was only a matter of time before that happened, be it as a HC, or now whatever his father does...

Dowell Loggains will be our OC, and our offense will change minimally. Our verbiage will be the same, the action will be the same. The play calling will change...but that may not be a bad thing...not saying it will be better, just saying it prolly wont be worse. Everywhere Dowell has coached have been run heavy schemes...Dowell may be more straight forward with his calls, Kyle has shown to be somewhat flashy in his calls, and it may have hurt a team as early in the process...a simple play caller, that allows his QB to make adjustments may be the right way to go...and I think Dowell would be that for the Browns.

I would be surprised if Loggains was promoted by the man who just publicly accused him of making up a story.

Say what you will about Farmer, but he was measured in covering everyone's back in that presser. Except Loggains.

Perhaps I am reading too much into things, but I'd be shocked if he got promoted.

With how Farmer defended the notion that Haslam wasn't behind the Manziel pick (I don't believe that one bit); it wouldn't surprise me if Loggains was fired this offseason. That only makes sense given the situation if it were true.
