I don't think that I would take Jones at all. There is an article on CBS about him. He was quite the immature .... person ..... until he was forced into action as the starter.

Let me see if I can find it.

Yep, here it is:

CFP title game: Ohio State QB Cardale Jones a long way from third string - CBSSports.com

Here is one of his Twitter posts .... crazy

I think that he needs some additional maturation.

That's from 2012.

Some of these other players dont even have to go to class. It's a non issue. Hell, I didn't HAVE to go to a number of my engineering classes when I was in school.

From people at OSU I've talked to in the past. There is zero chance Cardale learns an NFL playbook. He's also lucky defenses haven't really disguised anything to confuse him. The mental aspect is why JT started over him.

1st - interesting that Sabin with 2 weeks to prepare couldn't completely confuse him.

2nd - I hear that he has matured since that tweet and is now embarrassed that he sent it.

3rd - I thought he a true sophomore? Is he even draft eligible?

4th - I think that all 3 OSU qb's are really good college qb's but I don't think that any will do much in the NFL

Jones came out and said he's coming back to Ohio State next year.

Not sure I would want him anyway. Maturity issues, very little game experience.

If we're taking a spread QB, I hope it's Bryce Petty.

6'3 229 lbs. Quick release. Can read a defense. Good mobility for his size. Pure pocket passer, not a gimmicky read option offense type of QB.

okay, there seems to be some confusion here on the OSU QB's, so let's clear it up.

Braxton Miller graduated in December and is free to go to any graduate school in the fall (oh, and play for their football team, obviously that is a secondary concern).

Cardale Jones is on pace to graduate next December. So, it makes full sense for him to stay at Ohio State (he wouldn't be drafted based on a couple games or at least not high enough to jump). If he wins the job from JT (and Cardale will be the spring QB), then he can stay. If he loses the job, then he's the backup for a year and can go to any graduate program he wants without sitting a year.

JT Barrett would have to sit a year if he transferred and he already beat out Cardale Jones once for the job and set a whole slew of records and won the Big10 East as the QB. You'd think he'd have to be pretty confident about his chances.

I heard that was the reason why they started Barret, but actually thought Jones was better..

I guess I like him because he just might be that big dummy that just doesn't care about what people say about not being able to win...he just seems like a guy who can just get er done lol

Your probably right..But I sure would love to have a QB that size busting up on the AFCN

I actually think "We ain't come here to play school" is absolutely brilliant (though most likely unwitting).

One of the best athlete quotes of the decade.

And, yeah, I'm not really concerned with whether or not a guy goes to class.

If 'we ain't come to play school' is his only issue thus far, I wouldn't necessarily have maturity concerns. I don't know much about him, though.

The concern would be a continued pattern of behavior.

Back on topic...

I like the last three guys on cfrs list as well.

The guys I really like I've mostly talked about already.

OG I really like Josue Matias from FSU (2nd Round). I think he is a PERFECT guard for our system. His athleticism is very good, he's extremely quick off the snap, and he actually finds guys to block when he's pulling. I would be happy to either make Greco the 6th man or move Bitonio to RT if we got Matias.

DL I think my favorite DL prospect is Grady Jarret from Clemson. I'm usually highly skeptical of Clemson DL but man he sure looks like the real deal. He's a big time penetrator, lines up at NT, DT, DE for the Tigers and is an impact type player. Bonus that somehow he's projected in the third or fourth round. He is my target for the 3rd round.

ILB my favorite prospect is TCU's Dawson, but it looks like others agree as his projections have moved to the second round. My second favorite guy is McKinney but were not getting him. My third favorite is at the position is Stephone Anthony from Clemson. He fills gaps really fast, can blitz, and is good in coverage. I think he's a better version of Kirksey and would easily take Carder's place on the roster. Right now CBS has him as a mid-6th round pick, but if we used a 4th on him I'd be happy. I also like Kendricks, but not as much as Anthony and Kendricks is projected to come off the board earlier.

At corner I like Ladarius Gunter from Miami and Shaw from USC. Both guys have played really well every time I watched them in the 2013 season. I think Gunter would be another good pick in the fourth. My favorite corner is IEO but I would be shocked if we took a corner in the first.

At center I like two guys: BC Andy Gallick and Miss St Dillon day. Gallick is probably perfect for our system but it's a matter of priorities at this point... How much of na investment do you put in to a guy you plan on being a backup? My hesitation with Day is he is a bit of a dirty player, but he's a very good player. He has a late round projection.

Well Dammit... three of the guys I thought we could steal in rounds 3-5 have been moved into a 2nd round projection by CBS: LB Dawson, S Harris, and DE/OLB Odighizuwa. bummer.

QB Shane Carden ECU, didn't watch him all season, just the first half of their bowl game, saw he has thrown for back to back 4000+ yard seasons and I kinda like him as a mid round pick.

WR Justin Hardy ECU, also didn't watch him all season, over 3000+ yards for his career, take them both in the middle of the draft, obviously they have chemistry.

If IEO's knee injury has him falling really far, and we think it's a case where we can just redshirt him for a year and bring him back the following season, I'd try really hard to move our fourth up ahead of the third round comp picks to take him. He is so danged good.

If Farmer drafts another rookie that doesn't play certain posters here might explode.

I haven't read all the posts, but I'll add my 2 cents anyway!

I like Colorado St. QB Garrett Grayson as a possible rd. 3/4 pick. I saw his name mentioned on a website somewhere and read a bit about him. Good size, arm, and accuracy. The highlights I've seen of him show some nice things (then again, they're called highlights for a reason!)

Colorado State senior QB Garrett Grayson accepted his invitation to the Senior Bowl.

Heading into bowl season, the senior signal-caller has thrown 32 touchdowns versus six interceptions and earned Player of the Year honors in the Mountain West Conference. CBS Sports' Rob Rang wrote over the weekend that Grayson "was a pleasant surprise" during a recent film session. "Grayson's combination of reasonable size (6-foot-2, 220 pounds), accuracy, mobility and instincts intrigue me as much as any senior quarterback in the country," Rang wrote.

Since the College Football National Championship game last night, I have been hearing more and more about the possibility of Jones declaring for the draft.. I like his size.. arm strength and ability to slip and/or overpower would be tacklers. He is very inexperienced, but there is no denying that the talent is there.. I just have the same question with him that I still have with Johnny Manziel.. Is he mature enough to be an NFL QB

Early guys I like.....Fowler, Shelton, Jackson (OG).

Later guys I would take a flyer on Green-Beckham, and Gunner Kiel.....both big time natural talents but screwed up aka Crowell.

I'm watching Oregon vs Washington state, and if Jarrett isn't there when we draft a DL, I want Xavier Cooper. This is one of the smartest DTs I've seen in a long time and he's disruptive, too. Makes the play that allows his teammates to make plays.

DGB did not make one mistake he made several. I say he is more like Flash Gordon.

I'll give you he is very good. It is ashamed Danario Alexander could not swap knees with DBG.

That is why I say you take a late round flyer on him (5-7). Our mistake wasn't taking Josh, but rather wasting a high pick on him. If we had gotten JG for a 5th it is a move of genius just for the production we have gotten out of him so far. However, spending a 2nd on him is why H&H take heat for those last drafts (along with Weeden/TRich).

DGB is the most physically talented WR coming out. He might be JG he might not. A late round pick is certainly worth the gamble. If he works out great....if not you cut him after a year like most late round picks get anyway.

A guy projected as a late round/UDFA I really like is DL Elkino Watson #53 from USF. He is really disruptive and pretty much shut down Wisconsin's offense on his own in the first half this year. Wisky wised up at halftime and just ran to the opposite side of the field after the half and ended up running away with it but the talent was obvious. They run a 3-4 and he lined up at DE for them.

George Farmer from USC left school early. I would be very interested in him as a late round guy as well. Out of high school he was rated above Marqise Lee and Robert Woods (all three guys were on the same team). Then he got to USC and Lane Kiffin jerked him around. He even played some running back. His best position in high school was corner. I think he we took him and just gave him a defined role he would thrive.
