Games watched so far: vs Alabama, vs LSU

I like him much better than Beasley, but still am not sure what to make of him. He's a smart player, who plays to down and distance, very mature for any College pass rusher, let alone a Junior. Saw him line up in all stances and both sides of the field. He also redirected linemen presnap. Seems to make calls and is a 3 down prospect. Well rounded game, but no evident strength. Lacks some wow factor but very consistent and smart. Saw him make a great hustle play from behind on a 3rd&5, tackling the runner short of a 1st by tackling him back and not into a 1st down. Does a lot of those little things. Maybe not a star talent but a player you win with.

That said, he does not seem to have Beasley's get off and burst. He's almost always last to move off the snap, but strangely on GL plays he shoots upfield like shot out of a cannon. Might be that he plays to the situation and not only for sacks and stats. In the games I saw he hustled on all plays, even down multiple scores in the 4th Qtr and showed a very good motor overall.

There's a lot to like, but I'm interested in his athletic numbers. He has good agility once he moves and if he times fast, he may be out of reach for us and could become a top 10 prospect

I don't know about his combine stats, but he screams a player who will just out work you.

He is an animal on the field, just a guy who was born and bred to play the game. His motor never stops, and despite not being overly strong or fast, he works his butt off and knows what to do.

His moves are quite good when he does get a good jump off the line. He is a pretty good tackler, although he does struggle at times. I think he'll get better with more work in the NFL. He is already huge with his frame, so just add strength and watch him become a beast.

He is my favorite edge rusher in the draft, by far. He is complete and plays such a good game. He may not be a 20 sacks type guy in a season, but he'll be a damn good OLB.

you had a good run Hank.

No. I'm sick of edge defenders who don't set the edge.

I was at the Florida vs UK game and I came away questioning the kids hand strength. He got his paw on those runners from Ky and didnt finish. He was reaching and grabbing andthey ran threw him. I Like his hustle. I like his size. He doesnt have a lot of pass rush moves but he can get after the QB. I think he is one of those guys you take mid to late first and he has a high ceiling low bust rate. Kinda guy Steelers and Pats will have very high on their board but has really weak hands.

Just a tidbit I came across on another website about fowler: none of his sacks came from rushing off the edge and beating an OT. They all came from stunts and being moved around the front 7 pre-snap.

I watched Florida/ECU Bowl game yesterday and after a slow start in the first quarter and a half, Fowler pretty much took over the game. He beat their RT with a bull rush almost pancaking him, and like candyman pointed out won on a whole bunch of stunts or non-standard alignments. He also beat the LT on an inside move. This was all in the passing game. He was a total non factor in the run game.

OC Garcia played a terrific game. He was constantly opening the middle up for gains and was a wall in pass pro. I have to go back and watch Gallik and Day again because he's up there with those guys for me, and apples to apples, senior bowl week he did awesome in the pit.
