I don't know what kind of pain and misery you were going through, but my brother was very miserable and eventually hospitalized after losing so much weight, like you.
He also has the colostomy bag.
He says it has completely changed his life and he believes the bag is a very small price to pay for the improvement in his life.
I hope you find out that you have taken care of the cancer and the poop bag is the worst you have to deal with.

I posted this on the Stewart Scott thread, but thought it might fit here, too. If not, I apologize... One thing I gotta say...........It was reported several times today that Stewart Scott lost his battle w/cancer. However, if you listened to him, he did NOT lose the battle. He won a ton of battles. He never gave in. He lived his life the best he could considering the circumstances. That makes Stew a winner.
I hate freaking cancer. My dad died from it when he was 56. I had a tumor in my throat. GM has got colon cancer.
My dad fought his ass off. It started in his colon and spread to his liver. He was too stubborn to go to the doctor. Guy never missed a day of work in over 20 years at Timken Roller Bearing. When he finally went to the doctor, he came home and said......"I should have never went." They gave him two weeks. 85% of his liver was consumed by cancer. He fought and fought. They kept bringing in a priest. He lived for 21 and half months after being given only 2 weeks to live. Cancer killed him, but my dad was a warrior and he was not a loser. I feel the same way about Stewart Scott. He did not lose the battle. He won plenty of battles and proved that he is a great warrior and champion.
I really feel that we should do more to help. I have PMed GM and asked him how I could help him. I have read his thread and many of you want to help him. I think of my dad. I think of Stewart Scott. How can we help them?
The answer is simple..............donate money to cancer research so it does not claim any more of our loved ones and can perhaps save a loved one like GM.

GM...for the most part, I stay away from the Everything Else forum and I would not have known about your situation if I had not read Vers post on the Stewart Scott thread.
I will do all I can to communicate with the big guy upstairs, sending the message...that you GM, are one of the good guys and that the Lord and I need to do all we can do to help. But you have the promise that you will fight...

Sorry about the stage 4 GM. Will double up on the prayers.
Just wanted to share a tale of a good friend of mine who had
the exact same diagnosis. He got busy in life, he did what the docs
told him to do but he got involved in Politics, ran for office and won!
He served for years and put all his efforts into it. Next he ran for a
higher office!
He was involved in everything in our community, people wondered where he
got the energy. He refused to let the disease run his life, it became secondary to his busy schedule but he did as the doctors told him.
At times I would actually forget he had the problem. There were times he looked good and times he looked like hell but he just kept on going.
Chemo took his hair and he kept on going, wearing a hat.
His skin would break out terribly but he looked you right in the eye when talking. It was your issue to deal with. He was on TV a lot because of his position but he never
wavered.

Sorry the doctors got it wrong, GM. I think most of them should just shut their pie holes until results come back. If anyone is stubborn enough to kick cancers ass, I believe it's you.

There isn't one of you that won't be affected by cancer at some point in your lives. It will either be you or a loved one. We gotta donate money and fight this disease.

I'm still fooling around with thyroid cancer. I decided to live day to day fighting it but overall live my life like I don't have it. It can't get me down!!
