Cutler may be better then Hoyer but that doesn't make him a quality starting QB and again with what he is paid he is not worth it. Cutler is better than Hoyer. It's not close. If you interviewed every GM in the NFL all 32 would take Cutler over Hoyer. One didn't think so, the one who traded Cutler. Is he a current GM? (The answer is no.) Also, he got two first round picks and a third for Cutler. He also drafted Tim Tebow.

You asked for opinions and you got them. They were not what you wanted to hear so you challenge everyone. Not much else to discuss, Cutler is not very good, too many turnovers.
Welcome back, Joe, we missed you!

I just didn't expect people to think Hoyer was better than Cutler. That's pretty cut and dry. I was mainly thinking Cutler versus Manziel or other free agent options.
My mind is blown.

My mind is blown. I don't get it either. It is not like Hoyer is a touchdown machine. At least Cutler throws for more touchdowns than interceptions.

Well, I like Hoyer and I wouldn't mind getting Cutler. The guy I don't want to see at QB is Manziel.

It seems rather apparent to me that Haslam and Farmer want Manziel as their qb. So, why would they toss picks and large money to bring in someone to compete w/him?
Manziel is their man!
We just lost our OC because of that.

We lost our OC because he wants to go work with his father. Dollars to donuts those two end up somewhere together. He used Manziel as an excuse but unless Johnny Football had looked like Johnny Unitas, Shanahan was gone at the end of this year no matter what.

Nah ..Pass on him. He's way to big and can throw deeper with better velocity and accuracy then Hoyer, Shaw and Manziel. We're the Brown's. We're good at QB. We don't want proven talent, never have. Get lost Cutler.

We've tried the big arm QB with no brains before. He's currently a backup in Dallas. We've seen this song and dance before.

We just lost our OC because of that. Do you think this was b/c Shany would not build his O-schemes around JM? If so, then the new OC interviews will be " what is your plan to make JM a top QB"? It's a new approach for the Browns - build a team around a marketing machine like JM to keep the national attention, which IF we win, could lead to better F.A. coming to Cleveland. Why not - nothing else has worked. Every other tried and true method for the Brown's has gone down in smoke so what the heck, go all in with JM and see where the chips fall. Whatever the answer, Lord knows, it can't be worse than any other YoY since we came back.

To Cutler or not to Cutler, that is the question.
I am intrigued by the possible availability of Jay Cutler. While he was undeniably bad at the end of 2014, there have been stretches in his career were he has been very good. He is also one of the more physically talented QBs in the league. The problem with him is his attitude and his perceived lack of caring.
If he was available I would trade for him immediately. As soon as he was on our roster he would instantaneously become the best QB we've had since 1999.
Cutler has been the QB on multiple playoff teams (he has a career record of 61-58) and his numbers are better than anything we've experienced at QB for decades. This past season (when Cutler got benched at the end of the season for the last two games) he threw for 3,812, 28 TDs, 18 INTs, and a 66% completion rate. For his career he averages over 3,000 yards per season, 20 TDs, 14 INTs, and 62% completion rate.
There are literally no options better than Cutler this off-season. The easiest way for us to make a big jump is to improve the QB position, Cutler is the best [possibly] available option. We need to go for him if it is possible. Bears to pursue Ravens Kubiak ESPN was reporting the Bears were going after Kubiak (Ravens OC). I was comparing stats and on paper, Flacco and Cutler are very close. Kubiak could keep Cutler if they are close in skill set just from a familiarity standpoint on day 1 (assuming he gets the job).

The only way I see Cutler being successful here or anywhere, is in a ball control offense..
If you replace Hoyer with Cutler in the first 10 games this season, with the style of offense we ran, and the effectivness of our running game, play action, roll outs, only a few reads.. I think he would of played better than Hoyer..
At least most of those deep passes people had to wait for would of been TDs.
But it's to the point, that IMO, Jay Cutler doesn't love football. He comes across (to me) as a guy that's good enough at it that he can make a lot of money doing it. Beyond that, I don't see him as a guy that wins you a title because he really wants one..

There's one huge, giant, enormous issue with Cutler. He's a toxic, me first personality. There are things that supersede a guy's perceived ability. A team as fragile and in need of stable leadership as this one cannot afford a character like Cutler. That would be a colossal mistake.

I don't know the answers to those questions. It just seems fairly obvious that the friction between the FO and Shanny was over Manziel. Who knows.........perhaps the FO is right and Shanny is a dumb ass talent evaluator and Johnny Limelight will light it up next year.

Oo i think he is an egotistical micromanaging ass but i thought that before he came here. Just like I am pretty sure Farmer is a meddler that thinks he should be coaching. Just like Haslam likely wants to be coach and GM and thinks he can never hire anymore as smart as he is. Just like Johnny is an egotistical drunken ass lol.
There are no innoncents in these situations.

Not exactly.
When Shanny questioned which personnel to play, whom do you think he was talking about? The backup center? Brainridge or Dray? Whether Gabriel or Dray? I seriously doubt that.
The only position other than qb that I can think of is RB. And Shanny almost assuredly preferred Crowell. Others might have preferred West. That could be it.
I think both of those positions are the keys to this speculation.
I really don't think Shanny was crying as Mourg suggested about some of those idiotic things that he posted. And if he was, they are NOT important.
Seriously, I saw someone post something about him complaining about the food in the cafeteria in Washington. LOL..........so freaking what?
Look, I know you guys don't like the guy and you like the new FO because you hated the old one, but please.......some of these arguments are beyond assinine.
My favorite one is where the QB coach is blamed for drafting Manziel. LMAO............he overrode Haslam, Farmer, Pettine, and Shanny.
That sounds logical............

While I have no idea what happened behind the scenes, I truly question whether or not Shanahan was dead set against Manziel. The offense had stalled. Hoyer had played badly for a number of weeks. One could argue that Shanahan misused Gordon upon his return, and that caused as many problems as anything else. Anyway though, back to the QBs ..... I don't see that Shanahan would flip out over starting Manziel even if he was fairly sure he would flop. Why? because sometimes you catch lightning in a bottle, and Manziel is the kind of guy who might bring that. Obviously he didn't ... but he was worth a shot at that point in the season.
I did like alot of what Shanahan did last year, and he definitely had a strong run game before Mack got hurt, and he had receivers running wide open throughout the year. I think that he had very good play design.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Manziel with new coaches in his ear. Do I know what will happen? Nope. I'll just have to watch and see.
I am also going to add that I was also one who liked Arians, and I was probably the leading voice for trying to bring him in as our head coach in 2012. (even though we never even interviewed him, which disappointed me greatly)

I would not be opposed, but would prefer to sign Matt Moore + draft a rookie.
Matt Moore is a smiliar QB without the hype and $$ investment

The Brown's have never had proven talent at Ownership,FO, coaching, or any QB except Garcia. Doesn't surprise me a bit we are where we're at after 15 years in the league.

So the Bears have to make a decision on Cutler before March 12th. If he is on the roster on or after that date $10 million of his salary is guaranteed for 2016. Link Cutler has flaws, many of them, but he would easily be the most talented QB we've had since 1999. Of course everything depends on the price, but I would guess he will come cheaply. If the Bears decide they are out on him then they look to get anything they can for him before releasing him.

I don't believe he would come cheaply. Yes, cheaper than his current contract. But I believe you have to look at the teams in need of a QB. Then I believe one would have to face the fact that Cutler would definitely be the best QB on the FA market bar none. The demand for his services under such circumstances would definitely drive the price up.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

The demand for his services under such circumstances would definitely drive the price up. I'd tend to have to agree here with this assessment. The QB class both draft and free agent is nothing to write home about. The statement of Jay Cutler being the best (which I would have to agree with) outta the crop of what's available is a demonstration of how weak the free agent market is. And of course, as Pit said, would be a driving force on the price and with Cutler's poor and crap attitude and notorious leadership questions - I'd say let another team pay high dollar for something that isn't likely going to bring nothing but a wicked nice arm and that's about it. His pre-snap reads have also been a topic of question.
