I don't think Obama has hundreds of people camped out in front of his home in Chicago calling him a murderer.

But when history looks back at their respective critics, the Obama opposition is going to look completely insane. 'Wait, they thought he was a communist Muslim Robin Hood?' I doubt history will look at Obama favorably, but the complaints about him will most likely be to his advantage.

haha, I'm sure you're right. still, it was a small fraction of what Obama gets. Frankly both sides need to back off.

Pretty sure the security in Paris had enough to deal with. But I'm enjoying all the posters riding their high horses around here. Typical at DT these days.

Obama only goes somewhere in 2 cases
1. There is a personal benefit to him 2. There is a golf course near by. And the right only wants Obama to go to two places. 1. Where his life may be in danger. 2. And to hell.

I never cared for them much before this. I always saw the rag as a sort of low-brow attempt at provocation.
I was interested to see how they would handle this, with the world watching...
And I'm still not sure if I like it or not.
But that's generally a mark of good art.

But that's generally a mark of good art. I don't find their approach worth much of anything. They don't provoke me or inspire me. Between you and me, I find their output to be juvenile, stupid, and trading upon 7th-10th grade "sensibilities." BUT- that isn't the point (as I'm sure you already know)..... The point: they say things that inflame those whom they seek to parody... and I'll ALWAYS stand up for their rights to do so- even if I find their particular brand of 'humor' base and banal. Those writers/editors didn't deserve to die for the things they shared... but since they did, I applaud the entire civilized world for standing up to the backwards cretins that sought to silence them with lethal violence. This rally was not so much an acceptance of Charlie, as it was a repudiation of the "ideals" that fueled its opposition. I've never been an ardent fan of 'low-brow,' but I've always been a fan of Free Expression... whether you or I "Like" it or not. .02

If the media didn't make a stink about is lack of attendance, this would not even be an issue.
How long had the march been planned? When was it acknowledged that other dignitaries would attend?
As someone else stated, most of those other officials could get there in a matter of a couple hours. I'm not sure the US president could even get his plane off the ground impromptu, in just a couple hours.
Not to mention the pre-planning needed for the trip, the disruption once there. His presence may have over-shadowed the cause.
Some of the representatives who attended are from countries that are 1 innocent killing short of being terrorists themselves.
I am no Obama supporter, but I just don't see the big stink, other than another reason for one party to sling mud at the other. And it would happen going either direction, with either party.
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.

"You can make the weak strong by weakening the strong". Do you just look for word patterns that have a loose connection to lowest common denominator chain e-mail quotes? What on earth does that quote have to do with the points those two were discussing?

"You can make the weak strong by weakening the strong". Do you just look for word patterns that have a loose connection to lowest common denominator chain e-mail quotes? What on earth does that quote have to do with the points those two were discussing? Here, have at it! 1. "Yes We Can" 2. “Change” versus “More of the Same” 3. "Vote for Change" 4. "Change We Can Believe In" 5. "Our Time for Change" 6. "It's about Time. It's about Change" 7. "Stand for Change" 8. "Organize for Change" 9. “We are the change we’ve been looking for. Change can’t happen without you.” 10. "I’m asking you to believe. Not just in my ability to bring about real change in Washington . I'm asking you to believe in yours." 11. "A leader who can deliver change" 12. "Change in America doesn't start from the top down. It starts from the bottom up." 13. “Obama Momma” 14. "Women for Obama" 15. "Obama for America " 16. "A New Beginning" 17. "Help me take back America " 18. "My President is Black" 19. "Eight [years] is Enough" 20. " America , we cannot turn back. We cannot walk alone." 21. "We must pledge once more to walk into the future."

Which, to be fair, does sort of answer the question of 'Do you just look for word patterns that have a loose connection to lowest common denominator chain e-mail quotes?'

We Republicans will continue to pinch our noses but we are listening and watching. The funny part about this, is that you are so quick to ASSUME things, that some of those you take issue with aren't Democrats or even Obama supporters at all. I don't know if you haven't been here long enough to know that or just thrive on the controversy. Florida most certainly is neither and even he sees the foolhardiness of making an issue out of this. I'm am independent voter who just voted for a GOP Gov. in the state of Tennessee. Many of us find your quips quite foolhardy and counterproductive to your end goal. Sort of like a minister who preaches at people rather than to people.

I'm not at all sure why he wasn't there, but I'm glad of it.
I think Obama being there would or could have taken away from the real meaning of this event and it would have put undo pressure on those providing security.
I would think that ISIS would love nothing more that blowing up a parade where Obama, the Leader of the free world, the president of the USA was among the wounded or killed.
That would have been quite the little feather in their caps.

I have watched this Country go down hill for the last 6 years. I have watched as we lost the last 2 wars we had won. I watched as the Republicans would pass a budget and send it to the Senate only to have Harry kill it and send it back until the budget expired. I watched as our interests all over the world have been compromised. I watched while the discipline of the Military, IRS, Secret Service and the Nation in general have bottomed out. I have watched our Middle Class decline. I have watched as our National Debt rises to $18 Trillion, mortgaging the futures of my kids and grand kids. But you think I should fold my hands and remain calm. Not a chance! The American People are now beginning to see the light and have voted the Republicans in. Now we will see the growth of jobs and small business. We will face our Nations enemies and crush them instead of making a list of things we won't do to them. Everyone will be expected to get out of the Wagon and help push!

Try to keep up now, it's difficult to see with tearing, hate filled eyes, Clem posted just before me about "Stop Making Sense". Yes, hence my description of "word patterns that have loose connections". Do you understand what that means? An example would be if someone used the word 'red', and you posted some simplistic quote about liberals that contained the word 'red'. Could you answer the question asked below it? That's the string of words that has the curved line with the dot under it at the end. And again...maybe the guy who has difficulty understanding simple words or explaining basic arguments shouldn't accuse others of an inability to keep up?

There's also the fact that many of those leaders in the front come from nations with some shady human rights records. Obama would have just added to that hypocrisy.

I agree that I like to bark and snort but what would you have me do? I believe it would be much wiser to figure out who you should be snorting and barking at for starters. I mean that's totally your call, but I've seen you do that to people who mainly, or at least in [art agree with some of your views. I have watched this Country go down hill for the last 6 years. I have watched as we lost the last 2 wars we had won. I must disagree here. Both wars were never "winnable" in the sense of the word. There are too many unstable factions in that part of the world for a sustainable peace. No matter when we left either, both places would have been in immediate turmoil. We could have stayed for another ten years and as soon as we left, the results would have been the same. The choice would have had to of been made at some point, no matter which party was in power, to either finance a permanent war presence on both fronts forever, or leave. I watched as the Republicans would pass a budget and send it to the Senate only to have Harry kill it and send it back until the budget expired. We both know, if we're being completely honest here, that the GOP were sending up budget bills that were never going to pass. Both parties are playing the blame game here. The GOP sends bills they know won't be passed and they are not. Then each party points the finger at one another. Instead of either party actually attempting anything close to the art of compromise, they have decided to go to war with each other and stall our entire nation. They're both guilty of political games rather than actually have the betterment of our nation first on their priority list. I watched as our interests all over the world have been compromised. And you believe this happened under the Obama presidency? I watched while the discipline of the Military, IRS, Secret Service and the Nation in general have bottomed out. In case you missed it, the discipline of this nation has been bottoming out for a long time. Once again this isn't a new "Obama thing". Much like you though, I do find the IRS, Secret Service some of the military cut backs quite troubling. But I also believe when you're winding down two wars, the need for expenditures should be cut. It's been done historically. I have watched our Middle Class decline. I have watched as our National Debt rises to $18 Trillion, mortgaging the futures of my kids and grand kids. The middle class has been on the decline since the 80's. The new "Global Economy" has caused corporate interests and a large portion of our manufacturing base to now be done on foreign soil. Did you have the same outrage while this was occurring during GOP rule or did you just now realize this was happening? And yes, the national debt is alarming. There's no excuse for it. There was also no excuse for it when it was 6 trillion or 8 trillion. Which is the entire point. These things are not new. They have been an ongoing problem now for much longer than Obama and the Dems have been in power. But you think I should fold my hands and remain calm.
Not a chance! Sit on tour hands? No. Kicking and screaming like one party is to blame for where we are today? That's ridiculous. There's plenty of blame to go around for where we are today and how we got here. The American People are now beginning to see the light and have voted the Republicans in. Now we will see the growth of jobs and small business. We will face our Nations enemies and crush them instead of making a list of things we won't do to them. Everyone will be expected to get out of the Wagon and help push! We'll see how that works out for you. That certainly wasn't the case under the Bush administration and is a fine line of rhetoric. But the tea party isn't in power, the GOP is. They will spend like drunken sailors just on their interests. I've just seen this song and dance before. Neither party delivers what they claim. They get people like yourself all worked up thinking things will be so much different, but they won't. Your consistent rants tend to sway people away from your message rather than to get them to take any of it seriously. It's so one sided and illogical, you sound like an AM talk radio personality. But you go right ahead. If you honestly believe stating logical opinions based in fact is more an act of sitting on your hands than the rants you've been posting are, continue on. But you are actually hurting your cause far more than you're helping it.
