Well, what is the verdict ? Dude can lay down a good speech if nothing else but the division between the parties was very noticeable . It's funny to look at all of those rich men patting themselves on their backs .

Looks like I'm going to go broke. Being single, I'm exactly the type of person Obama will rob to pay for all the social programs he proposed.

How true that is, no matter who is in power.

Sorry folks, we have a smart a** leader in this country with very little world wide respect. His "I want" rhetoric was feckless and redundant. So many of his sentences began with the words I want. No plan appears to be in place for his proposals, just his Santa list of desires. He said he would veto four times.

Talk is cheap. The partisan division was obvious. To me as an American, it is a bit insulting (and always has been) to be presented with this rhetoric with smiles and applause all the while knowing the in fighting and BS that goes on on Capital Hill. The State Of the Union is and always has been a showy, tax expensive, rhetorical joke of a dog and pony show!

He eluded to giving to those who "work for it." Grand idea but don't believe it. We have already created an entitled society that will continue with more and more entitlements until this man is gone.

All the while the middle class works harder and harder giving more and more to the government only to sink further and further into despair. Yeah, that's good ol America....the land of the free.

Take from the rich (and middle class) and GIVE to the poor.......our Robin Hood President.

Well, free two year community college would be a start. Where do you really think those funds will come from? Or are you thinking we just go in to additonal debt spending money we don't have.

This isn't even remotely close to true.

If we're going to simplify it, the Obama presidency has been marked by taking from the middle class of the present and future to give to the elite.

We more or less already do that.

Cite an example of taking from the middle class to give to the elite sir. I believe you are either misunderstanding or misinformed.

Something tells me there is just a different perspective, as usual, here that will never be reconciled.

Then why is he even wasting the time of Americans discussing it to make himself look productive if it is the exact same thing? I believe it will not be.

I like that the guy parroting baseless AM radio propaganda like a mynah bird is telling me I'm not understanding things and am misinformed.

One example to cite would be the Affordable Care Act. It's a massive corporate subsidy, the brunt of which will be paid for by the middle class.

I'm starting to notice a trend.

Anybody who thinks he president isn't globally respected doesn't know a bunch of foreigners and probably hasn't done that much traveling either.

It's like listening to a street team of Fox News promoters who never left the country.

I think that PDR was referring to the fact that the law says that everyone has to have health care which means everyone must pay into the system which is lining the pockets of the health care industry.

Its a win win for the health care industry... but I could be wrong.

I was just asking because you made it sound like you understood the process and how it would proceed to make you poor.

My bad.

I agree and that's why I believe the ACA will not be eliminated. The insurance companies will lobby for it.

Not sure I see a whole lot of difference between Obama and any of the last 3 or 4 presidents.

They all cater to their base, they always have, they always will. If you aren't in their base, you get the shaft.

Not one of them worked FOR us. They worked for those that line their pockets

Why in the hell we allow those damn fools to divide us I'll never know.

That is exactly why I referred to him as an a**. That was an unprofessional, immature, ignorant example of a "leader "behaving poorly. seriously. stop it.

you don't comment on douches like hukabee.
you don't comment on fox news constantly lying and making up facts and furthering racial divisions like all the other networks.
you don't comment on all the republicans calling calling obama a kenyan muslim terrorist.

you SUPPORT those idiots that do the same thing Obama does.

so why should i take anything you say about him seriously?

and thats what a leader is SUPPOSE to do.

defend his beliefs and not take crap from people who just sits on their asses and complain. theres different leadership styles. theres no "BEST" style. thats personal preferences BS.

thats why i support obama. because these republicans are nothing but a bunch of six year old complaining about who owns the sandbox. Obama is doing what he has to do, by do it all by himself with executive orders.

tell your homeboys in congress if they don't like it, get off their asses and do something productive.

Joni Ernst... rofl OMG! That was the absolute worst response to an almost flawless argument for the future presented by the great orator.

Obama has been winning or at the very least is taking the credit for many political victories as of late. Many things he has done were head scratchers but they seem to be working. I give him full credit on the economic turnaround, his handling of Cuba (maybe Iran, yet to be determined), his foreign policy and actions as Commander-in-chief, as well as other things he has accomplished or helped to accomplish during his presidency.

I'm not always on Obama's side and a lot of what he has done has made me cringe... But his 2015 State of the Union address was brilliant. He pinned the Republicans into a no win situation when and if they fight him. He will point to this moment when he uses executive powers to do what he wants; and we all know he will use those executive powers.

He is going to put his policies in place one way or the other and I think the next two years will be a very wild ride politically. I almost feel sorry for the republicans. Joni Ernst looked like a relic dug up from the Reagan era! Her message sounded lost in Republican delusion and mired in mindlessness. IMO she was a sacrificial lamb.

Now I know this was just a speech and if Obama is good at anything, it's making speeches. But recent events suggest that he meant every word and fully intends to see most of what he talked about enacted. I'm not sure I will agree with everything or anything he plans to do, but I have little doubt he will do it. So I'm going to stock up on popcorn and find a good seat because things just got interesting in DC.

I can't believe you say this about one political party, while ignoring the other, and apparently believe this is why our government sucks.

Haven't you embarrassed yourself enough trying to pretend like the GOP is fiscally responsible?

How many more threads do you want to make a Chevy Chase pratfall of an argument that ends with you unable to make a coherent defense of such an obviously ludicrous claim?

i've said over and over in different threads that both parties suck. i don't feel the need to repeat myself yet again.

i just think republicans are worse.

Saying something is true doesn't make it true.

How many times have people have asked you to show evidence that the GOP is fiscally responsible and you tumble into 'Um, uh, er, they are."

And that's not a personal attack. It's mocking your inability to make a coherent argument. You just spout nonsense, and end up looking like a fool because you can't make even a basic, grade-level thesis argument to defend your hot air.

If you're going to step into the arena of derision and condecension, as 40 does, and then fail to make even a sixth-grade level argument, as 40 does, you should expect to get mocked.

If you don't like that, then maybe condescending tones isn't your lane.

No "carebear attitudes", right?
