It looks like the Saints hired a potential Falcons DC.

Dennis Allen, New Orleans Saints expected to reunite

Maybe a reach but Saints saw Atlanta hiring Shanahan. It looks like they took a potential good DC candidate from the pool. Nice move!

Eric Mangini to interview for Oakland Raiders' DC job

By Marc Sessler
Around the NFL Writer

Eric Mangini's name continues to bubble up in Oakland.

Weeks after the Raiders interviewed the 49ers aide for the head-coaching job that ultimately went to Jack Del Rio, the team is bringing Mangini back to discuss their vacancy at defensive coordinator, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday.

Mangini also took time this month to interview with the Redskins for Washington's coordinator role.

The former Jets and Browns coach has been tucked away in San Francisco of late learning the other side of the ball, serving as a senior offensive consultant in 2013 before taking over this season as tight ends coach. Mangini grew up under Bill Belichick in New England learning to coach the defense. He was the Patriots' defensive play-caller in 2005 before landing in New York the following year.

In what amounts to a second interview with the team, Mangini's meeting with the Raiders might suggest that Oakland has soured on the idea of hiring Mike Smith as coordinator. Oakland, though, has spread a wide net in search of new blood, speaking with Pat Shurmur and Mike Holmgren -- essentially every castoff Browns official -- before settling on Del Rio. Perhaps these meetings, all along, were aimed at pinpointing potential lieutenants for the new regime.

Mangini isn't bad as a coordinator IMO ... but wasn't a good HC

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Jack Del Rio and Mangini make an interesting pair. Talk about bringing toughness into a franchise.

Adding Bill Musgrave will make this a pretty tough coaching staff.

McKenzie will need to step up even more getting talent.

Which is pretty silly because 75% of the guys we are looking at are ex Raiders.

between the two teams, we've hired and fired so many people in the past 15 years that it's kinda hard to not recycle each other's garbage at this point.

Browns is the Browns

... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.
