Definitely genius. He's beating the media at their own game, promoting his line, giving nothing to create controversy and revealing his priorities in life with his family. Businessman who is taking advantage of any opportunity given him. More NFL should behave accordingly when it comes to the media.

Well as long as you don't watch any other Super Bowl coverage, or Sportcenter you should be okay.

Lookup Conan Marshon Lynch on YouTube. Conan, Lynch, and Gronk play the new mortal kombat. It is pretty funny. Conan has a segment called clueless gamer, which I normally don't find all that funny, but this one is good.

Because he doesn't want to answer borderline retarded questions like 'How important is this game?' or 'what was going through your mind when...?'

For the sake of accuracy lets just say it's my perception of the way the guy is acting with the media. If we're going to go by the dictionary definition then contemptible works for me as I do have contempt for the guy. Without the revenue from some of the very media he's thumbing his nose at there is no multi-million dollar contracts, no NFL. Ungrateful a-hole works too if you prefer that to prick.

most of these guys would still play football even if they was only getting like 60-70k a year.

it's a game. a lot of them aren't, and have no intentions on being role models. some don't really want to talk to the media, or volunteer, etc. they just want to play football.

I fail to see how that qualifies him as a 'prick', but to each his own.

He seems to be a decent dude who doesn't like answering the media's dumb questions.

And I don't think he's making their job harder for them...just look at what he's given them this week. Lynch's unwillingness to speak was a top story on a subway screen this week. Non-sports people are checking this guy out.

If one couldn't capitialize on that, then they failed as writer.

I find people whining about him not talking to them to be a joke. The subject of your narrative being unwilling to talk to you doesn't mean you can't write that narrative. It just takes effort.

IMO, acting like a jackwad in front of the media is prickness. He's proven that if it isn't about him making money, he has no interest.

And, with that said, it's great he does things behind the scenes with charities, etc. I'm sure he donates a lot of money as well.

I just think he could act, with the media, a bit more courtiously. JMO

I don't know, maybe it's that I play by the rules and don't care for people who ignore them. Maybe it's the fact I don't like people that bite the hand that feeds them.

He does just fine with the media that he chooses to open up to.

Nor do I find him particularly abrasive with the group he's required to talk to. He merely lets them know he'll be giving one word answers and does so.

I work in the IT field, I wonder how it will work if it was required for people in my office to speak to the media about their IT work. I bet you will see a lot of awkward, resentful, and scared people.

The NFL needs that spin. These writers create the stories that make people talk, that feeds the machine. If it wasn't for those sound bites and the spin and the stories, the writers wouldn't have much to put out there. Stories and things to talk about would be less frequent - in time, the NFL wouldn't be a daily talked about thing any longer.

It's the same thing as your silly Draft "guru" types coming out with a new mock every week. People have short attention spans, you have to keep the hype and noise going to hold the people's attention. Without it, you lose relevance. When that happens, you lose revenue.

The simple fact of how astonishingly HUGE the NFL Draft has become, and subsequently the Combine, and soon to be the Veteran Combine.... they are all products created by and fed from spin and hype.

It's the realization of this relationship is why the NFL requires players to make themselves available. Lynch - if he's actually finding a way to profit from this - is actually doing the very same thing, but for his own brand rather than quietly feeding the NFL brand - which, by the way, continues to feed the NFL brand.

If I was Lynch, I'd decline any extension offer until they fire the offensive coordinator....
