Just some speculation here, but when I saw Eric Wrights picture holding up the jersey number 24 I thought wait a minute, that is Baxter's Jersey. Then I looked at the roster and they have Wright at 24 and Baxter at 23. (Barclay is also wearing 24 but that is his europe# so i'm discounting that). I highly doubt Baxter just gave up his Jersey # in one day for a rook. Seems like they said, you want 24 E wright, take it. Again, this is just pure speculation as I didn't have much time to do that before the draft! Any thoughts on Baxter's future

I have been hearing Baxter is actually running and is way ahead of schedule.. Did I hear wrong? I do think it is pretty much a stretch that he comes back this year but you never know..

Means absolutely nothing, they don't care about uniform numbers until the actual season starts. Baxter won't even be practicing at mini-camps, so what does it matter if his number is used. Players double up on numbers all the time, through the end of preseason.

Sunday Strategy said Baxter wanted to change his number as a new beginning. He felt #24 was bad luck for him. Hoepfully it's not for Wright.

Baxter is not on his way out.
He changed his number. He thought it might bring him some better luck since he's had a run of big injuries wearing #24. I think he's switched to #23. It might be on the roster, I'll have to go check to see if it's been changed there.

I don't see this as a "sign" that he's on his way out. He just wants a fresh start.

I'm really pulling for Baxter to make it back to the player he was before the injury.
What a story that would be.
As PPE asked, can you provide any more specific info?
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

Danielle, what's Hank think of the picks? He has to be happy, I can't see how he couldn't. The line is, for once, going to be a strength of this team.

Seriously. Just b/c the guy wants to change his number doesn't mean the FO is canning him. Personally, if changing his number helps him clear his mind of the last few years, let him. What more do the browns have to lose?

The home page indicated that Baxter changed his number around the second week of FA.
Think he's just looking for a change/ new start.
Don't read too much into it.

That's funny, seeing as Baxter also said he didn't believe in a curse in Cleveland. I guess he's superstitious after all.
