We should trade Quinn for Troy Smith and run the Triple Option!!!!! Okay, on a serious note. I watched the Berlin Thunder against the Amsterdam Admirals. I basically wanted to scout out Barclay and see how he was doing. Pros: He had some great runs, found some holes, a few nice catches. Body wise, he was looking pretty solid...a bit more built than I remember. He seemed to have decent vision and quite a few good KRs. Cons: He seemed to do a few too many spin moves; I felt like I was playing my old roommate in NCAA 2005. He lost his footing a few times but usually recovered gracefully. Overall, he didn't look too bad. Berlin's OL was getting a bit spanked by Amsterdam's DL and Amsterdam had some quick pursuing LBs. I don't think he can be a starter, but he may get some PT this year. Has anyone else seen his games this season? Or have any thoughts?

IMO Harrison is a better option than Barclay.

I don't disagree with this. I just needed something to do, I'm dying for the NFL to start back up. I just figured I would follow one of our players.

Yeah, they are being played on the NFLN. I plan to DVR most of the games, I have no clue how to get them off of there though

if given the opportunity... Barclay would probably rip it up on the field... but i honestly cant say that Harrison can't do the same thing...
only way Barclay makes the 53 man roster is if he out blocks Harrison...

Hopefully with a year under his belt Harrison has figured out how to at least halfway passblock. If he has he'll definitely see time as our 3rd down back this year IMO. With our OLine looking better, he just might be able to utilize some of his speed and elusiveness too.
I'm looking for good, good things out of Harrison this year. Hope I'm right.

Well, to be honest, that may not be hard to do. Harrison did not show much, if any, improvement at blocking. So I say let's see what Barclay has to offer, we may be pleasantly surprised. I could see a good tandem in Lewis, Barclay, and Harrison or Turner, Barclay, and Harrison.

If we have any shot of getting Michael Turner we need to go after him. He's a legit #2 behind Lewis and could blossom into a verrry nice #1 once Lewis moves on/retires.

San Diego pulled him off the market on Monday morning. Tried to trade him over the weekend and could not get things done. Said he will remain a Charger for the season.
Signing Steinbach - $49.5 million Signing Lewis - $5 million Drafting Joe Thomas and Brady Quinn - millions more Restoring the Browns to champions - priceless.

Just a heads-up for those of you with NFLN and the stomach to watch NFL Europa. Berlin plays Cologne in 30 minutes. Looks like Barclay has been a key cog in Berlin's O... running the ball, catching the ball, returning kickoffs. WR Steve Sanders, not so much... didn't dress in Week 1, got a false start penalty in Week 2, another false start penalty in Week 3. For the season - zero catches for zero yards, thrown to once. On the Cologne D, you can keep an eye out for mike LB Clifton Smith. I watched a couple of quarters of their game against Frankfurt two weeks ago and he's not bad.

This was a nice game to watch. Cologne grabbed a 21-0 lead after a quarter and a bit. Barclay's TD got Berlin back in it. On the next Cologne series, Berlin intercepted and turned that into 7 points. Then Cologne went up 28-14. Berlin got a figgie (28-17), then another TD (28-24) and then finally took the lead (31-28) with just over a minute to go. Cologne did a nice job of marching down the field but their kicker hooked the 38-yd attempt wide. Clifton Smith looked like a beast out there, usually against Barclay. The first two runs of the game, he stuffed him at the line (maybe just behind) and then he forced a fumble in the 4th quarter. If Barclay is going to challenge anybody on the roster, it will be Cribbs as a KR or Wright as a scatback. Another unproductive day for Steve Sanders. I could see him in the huddle, going to the line, helping guys up after the play was over, etc. He was thrown to once - zero catches for zero yards. On the bright side, he didn't have any penalties this week.

Barclay goes 99 in Berlin win Jeff Walcoff, Staff Writer 05.07.2007 http://admin.clevelandbrowns.com/article.php?id=6787 Chris Barclay took a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown during the second quarter of a Berlin Thunder victory over the Cologne Centurions during Week 4 of NFL Europa action. The return got the Thunder on the board after allowing three early touchdowns to the Centurions and spurred on a 21-point comeback that eventually led to a 31-28 win. Barclay returned a total of five kicks for 180 yards, rushed 15 times for 38 yards and caught one pass for 6 yards during the victory. After four games, Barclay leads NFL Europa with404 kick return yards. Browns receiver Steve Sanders also played in the game for Berlin but did not record a catch. In the loss, Brownslinebacker Clifton Smith marked 8 tackles for the Centurions and forced a fumble during a crucial fourth-quarter drive for Berlin, giving the ball back to Cologne. Punter Kyle Basler continued a strong season Saturday during the Frankfurt Galaxy's 19-17 loss to Amsterdam. Basler punted 3 times for 126 yards (42.0 avg.). His longest punt of the day traveled 51 yards from the Frankfurt 15 to the Amsterdam 34 and was returned 12 yards. In the win, Browns defensive lineman Alvin Smith recorded 3 tackles. Week Five of NFL Europa action kicks off at 1 p.m. EDT Saturday when Frankfurt (3-1) travels to Rhein (1-3). The game will air live on NFL Network. Later in the weekend, Amsterdam (2-2) will play at Hamburg (2-2), while Cologne (2-2) travels to Berlin (2-2). Those games will air on tape delay at 1 a.m. Sunday and Monday, respectively, on NFL Network.
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.
