I believe if he came by trade we would be tied to his current contract. I would have to say no.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Here is a good page I found on that massive contract too which includes lots of guaranteed.

http://overthecap.com/player/jay-cutler/130

Quote:

Jay Cutler signed a 7 year contract with the Chicago Bears worth $126.7 million on January 2, 2013. $38 million becomes fully guaranteed on the 3rd day of the 2014 League Year. Cutler’s 2016 salary is guaranteed for injury upon signing with $10 million becoming fully guaranteed on the 3rd day of the 2015 League Year and the remaining $6 million becoming fully guaramteed on the 3rd day of the 2016 League Year. Cutler’s contract contains roster bonuses from 2017 through 2020 that total $2.5 million. Each week that Cutler is active he will earn $156,250 of that roster bonus. If Cutler fails to attend offseason workouts his salary will be reduced by $500,000.

On March 21, 2014 Cutler converted $5 million of his 2014 base salary into a signing bonus. The move created $4 million in 2014 salary cap space.

this guy couldn't get it done with forte, bennet, marshall and jeffery.

i have no reason to believe he would do us any good.

My thoughts exactly. Cuttler had a Pro Bowl supporting cast and couldn't get it done. We are depleted of that calibre of talent, he is sure to fail here. Now if he is willing to take a pay cut say 2-4 Mil/Yr, maybe. But you have to understand you are not getting a mentor for Manziel, so you shouldn't ask that of him.

I've watched a little, little bit of Cutler. Didn't like what I saw. At all. That's just me. However, I am currently getting made fun of as a Browns fan by my Bears fan friends for the rumors that even MENTION the Browns having interest in Cutler.

That's got to be worth something if even bears fans want him gone AND mock those teams that show any interest in him.

He would still automatically be the best QB we have had. Not saying to make the move. All I know is if they are looking to win now I can see them making the move.

I don't like the cost and especially if they want big time trade compensation. All I know is that any QB who comes up suspect with their team or who will already be on the FA market will be mentioned as a possible investment by us.

What do you mean by "couldn't get it done?"

In fifteen games Cutler completed 66% of his passes, had 3,812 yards, 28 TDs, 18 INTs, and a QB rating of 88.6 The Bears went 5-11, but their defense was among the worst in the league by every measure.

For comparison's sake, here are Brian Hoyer's numbers seventeen career games played (all starts besides the game he came in when Manziel got hurt in 2014):

56% completion rate, 3941 yards, 17 TDs, 16 INTs, and a QB rating of 77.6.

(Cutler had 27 more pass attempts than Hoyer in this comparison.)

If Cutler is available, there is literally no better option. If placed om the right system (a system similar to the one Hoyer was in last year), Cutler could thrive.

Cutler has a poor attitude, but his results are better than any QB we've had besides Derek Anderson in 2007. I am okay with our QB being a tool if we win games.

Who would you prefer? Mark Sanchez? Jake Locker? Josh McCown? Brian Hoyer? Matt Moore? Michael Vick? Christian Ponder? Colt McCoy? There are only bad options. Cutler is at least average.

cfrs15, you're right, but you're also wrong.

Would Cutler be better than what Hoyer was giving us late in the season? In general, yes. Would he be better than the few snaps we saw of Manziel? In general, yes. But getting Cutler requires we marry ourselves to him for quite a while. You don't trade for Jay and then also groom the next QB behind him, you don't cut Jay a year later, you invest in Jay because you think he's the guy for the next 3-4 years.

But Jay isn't that guy. He's a marginal QB that plays his position like it's an average go-nowhere 9-5 job. He doesn't embrace being a leader, he doesn't want to win, he doesn't care how the fans feel about him, and he's only in it for one thing...himself.

Come on, while a Bear, Cutler is 1-10 against the Packers, with a 57.1 completion percentage, 14 touchdowns, 21 interceptions, and a quarterback rating of 67.1 (maybe one of those was against the Packers when he was a Bronco). Point is, against the Bears #1 rival, in games that usually determined the division lead, he was as good as any QB you can find in the Arena League. Do you really want an older, less invested Jay Cutler under center against the Steelers? Please.

Again.....No.

If the options are Jay Cutler and the other guys I mentioned, I take Cutler every time and don't look back.

What QB are we grooming?

I think Cutler has attitude/personality issues. I also thinks he works hard. I have seen people question Cutler because of his apparent aloofness, I have never seen anyone question his work ethic.

Give me two stinkbombs against the Steelers and then regular Jay Cutler against the rest of the teams and we make the playoffs.
