How many of those people are there? 1? 3? 5? At the most?
Some may have preferred him over Manziel or McCown, but I don't think too many people are acting like he is our franchise qb.

I hope we don't have a starting lineup of Miles Austin and Hartline...that puts zero fear into any defensive scheme against us...We definitely need a playmaker with big play flair. Like Seattle?

Seattle has an elite defense elite running game and a pretty damn good QB...they will be the first to admit they need upgrading of their WRs as well

And Seattle actually has a lot of nice #2,3,4,5 wideouts...but would greatly benefit with a stud WR IMO.

How does Seattle's elite defense make Seattle's passing game better? I get the run game part. QB, I won't argue it, but I think Russell is a product of the overall offense. Can Russell move that team once Lynch is gone? I want to see this before I label "pretty damm good." Way I see it. In order to make the run game work, they have receivers to keep the defense in check. Browns can do the same thing. They must get over the hump letting defenses take control. It is all about confidence. Defenses pressure the offense into making mistakes. Offense had Gordon last year. Yet, defense were not fearful. Yes, talent helps, but sometimes you must play smarter.

A bunch of people are going to freak out again, but I don't think those guys were such great route runners. I think it had way more to do w/scheme.
And no, I am not totally discounting the receivers. I am just saying I didn't see too many great examples of route running. What I did see was plenty of great route designs.
Shanny put the right route for the right receiver.. It was a compliment to the receivers strengths as so he did with Hoyer.. Hoyers big success, the shotgun..Shotgun play action..play action and boot action.. Austin..Benjamin...Cameron... Dray....Gabriel...Hawkins all had big gains of 20 plus yds more than once... I think the receivers did a hell of a job running the routes...

Sorry Bugs, I may have worded it oddly. What I basically meant with the whole defense of Seattle and running game...is that Seattle can get away with having pedestrian wideouts...while in my opinion until our D is as dominant as Seattle's and until we can run the ball mercifully down the oppositions throat, just like Seattle does...I don't think we can get away with pedestrian wideouts

Anyone have any thoughts on B.J. Raji? He missed the entire season due to injury (torn right biceps). In 2013 he was bad, to the point that he was cut (and later re-signed). At one point in his career he was a pretty good run stuffer. He might be worth a one year contract.

Why would the Browns cut a guy who is due to become a free agent in days? I don't even know if they are allowed to do so at this time of the year.

I'm a minority when it comes to the importance of wide receivers!! I don't think Browns are that far away from having an elite defense and run game. Don't get me wrong a lot needs to fall in place, but that is whole other debate! Running backs usually get it their second year. If that is the case, West and Crowell could be in for a big season. IF Browns can establish the run game, I am a firm believer the emphasis on a single stud receiver is unnecessary. With McCown, Manziel, and Shaw, Browns will never have an offense like Green Bay. I vision an offense that moves the ball 3 to 4 yards at a time boring to fantasy football fans agonizing for defenses to stop. Remember Payton Hillis? There were no secrets everyone in the stadium knew the plays. Back then Browns lacked depth to sustain.

So naturally, he gets traded to the Jets moments later.... Bears have agreed to trade WR Brandon Marshall to the Jets pending a physical, per league source. https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter

I know Marshall has baggage, but he can still play. I wouldn't mind seeing him on the team. Pair him with a young WR from the draft and we might have something brewing. I like the other young WRs (Gabriel, Hawkins), but I like the experience Marshall would bring. If he's head is on straight, or if someone can help keep it on straight, he could be a benefit to the team.

I read today that Vince Wolfork got released. He is 34 but he can still play. He may be good in our D-line rotation if he wants to come here. Veteran presence.

Wayne was the Colts' first-round draft pick in 2001 and has never played for another team. But after tearing the ACL in his right knee in October 2013 and injuring his left elbow in October 2014, he didn't look the same. Reggie Is Reggie someone the Browns take a look at ?

he could be a benefit to the team. He pretty much was a cancer in every locker room... Not the type of guy I would want around a young team

jc...
Heard talk that "unofficially" Jay Cutler is on the market.
I hope the Browns do not think he is the answer.
Biggest problem with Cutler, he acts as if he doesn't give a damn about anything. Not exactly the kind of leadership our Browns need.

Just me, and no knock on Reggie he clearly is one of the greats, but me personally - I'd focus more attention on bringing Miles Austin back than I would Wayne. Edit, and even if we don't bring Miles back, I'd likely still not want Wayne. Two years in a row he's been sidelined for various injuries. I know tearing his ACL was one of them, elbow or something also hindered him.

I agree.. with the talk of bringing in Hartline... I wasn't sure if the Browns were content with the currant roster..
I understand Hartline... Being only 28 he's got some years to stick around..
Reggies 10 years older and is dealing with the injuries.. I guess with Reggie it would be more of a Mentoring role to the young guys we have.

Regarding Brandon Marshal, not that it matters much now, but I've read a couple articles saying that he really got his head screwed back on straight the last couple years. He's not the same one-man circus that got himself run out of Denver.
And when these stories come out, I view them with a healthy amount of skepticism, but I haven't heard anything about him that's on the same level as earlier in his career. He's settled down into your regular talented WR diva level.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

But...why should we trade a valuable 5th round to give our newly signed bridge QB a weapon he had success with in 2013? Farmer can do better with that 5th rounder. He will find the next hyped up small school phenom who does nothing for 3 seasons as a Brown. Also, the Browns need every 3rd day pick these days with the textgate penalty looming. Makes zero sense to burn one of those on a proven, AllPro WR if you can just text message-rant them away. How does this clown still have his job is beyond me.

I don't think the Browns will look at Reggie Wayne, and I don't think Reggie Wayne would look at the Browns.
If we were going to contend for a Superbowl or even the playoffs this year and needed a veteran like Wayne, then sure, sign him, but we're probably looking another growth year with a 5-11 or 6-10 record, so signing him and having him take a roster spot away from a young guy doesn't make much sense.
I would rather have Cecil Shorts & Brian Hartline still. Both of them are still young enough to grow with the team over the next three or four seasons.

Glad we passed on Brandon Marshall.
He's been traded from three teams for a reason, the guy is a basket case with a huge ego. No thanks.

Marshall caused a ruckus in the locker room after a loss to the Dolphins last season when he was overheard yelling at kicker Robbie Gould and offensive linemen had to intervene. He separately challenged a Lions fan and Lions center Dominic Raiola to fights on Twitter. He criticized Cutler when he was benched during Week 16 on WMVP-AM 1000, saying “I'd have buyer's remorse too” in regards to the quarterback's contract. If the Bears trade or cut Marshall, it likely will be with an eye toward improving chemistry ChicagoTribune He may have settled down into a diva level...Seems he's still a distraction in the locker room

I wonder where Percy Harvin ends up since the jets have to cut his 10.5 million contract...I don't want him in Cleveland as he's probably easily the biggest cancer of all WRs

So they traded him for a 5th round pick? Sounds like Chicago wasn't being too picky about what they got to get Marshall off their roster.
Sounds, and like others have stated, the dude was toxic to a locker room. Glad we passed, another head case is the LEAST of what this team needs.

Bleacher Report said that the Jets are expected to cut Percy Harvin.
My guess is he'll end up with the Eagles or Patriots.
Imagine that guy in that Eagles spread offense. Wow.
