The same kind of bargain like Gordon ? Honestly I don't think Pet will put up with his crap... I see him sitting out games for his actions if he comes here...

I believe there is an agreement in place to trade him to the Jets. I don't believe we are in the picture...

Kind of a no brainer, both were exclusive rights free agents and could be re-signed at the league minimum.

Pretty sure it was a bad snap or something, but I remember that one play where Lanning had to chase the ball down and still was able to boot it off. I thought it was a fantastic play for a punter.

Now let's ink up Gipson, Austin and Skrine! Rubin if he is willing to take not such a lavish contract.

But Gordon was a positive influence on our team.

Gilbert? Man, he provided so much motivation by his attention to detail.

Manziel? What a spark he provided when he came in.

Blah..........

I would take Marshall in a heartbeat. I saw that original article and I got excited. The guy wants to win.

Oh wait.............that's not important here.

Brandon Marshall is still a force at WR.
All the Browns WRs are too small for the rides at Cedar Point.
The Jets gave up a TV dinner to land Marshall while your intelligent GM Ray Farmer
sat on his hands and did nothing.
when the last time this franchise had the urgency to win this year?
If I was the Browns GM I would have acquired Marshall, made a run at the Cleveland kids Shorts and Ginn and then drafted a WR in the 1st RD.
The Browns weakness on offense is that they have zero playmakers. zero.
No QB,no special teams difference makers,no WRs that can threaten defenses in a blink.
things are looking up.

The last thing the Browns need is another wide receiver with a issues.

I would have given up a 4th for him even with his injury and attitude but I cant blame the FO for not going that route as they are trying to push the team chemistry mode this offseason. I would be happier with Hartline just because I trust him more and I am a huge Marshall fan. I will admit to being pretty ticked that hartline left without signing lol.

I really hope we can draft one of the big 3 receivers and add that vet to be a good #2 option and push Austin into that #3 role. Although, I still say Gabriel has the potential to be a very good starting receiver in this league.

I think older players who can still play, Trent Cole or, Vince Wilfork, would give this team solid rotational play and give the team more flexibility during the draft.

Rapoport: Jets will release WR Percy Harvin
Mar
6
3/6/2015 3:08:26 PM

The New York Jets plan to release wide receiver Percy Harvin before the start of free agency according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

Harvin contributed 51 catches, 685 total yards, and two touchdowns to the Jets' otherwise awful offense after the team obtained him from the Seattle Seahawks in a trade last fall. Harvin is due $10.5 million if kept on the Jets roster in 2015, however, and the new regime instead opted for the cheaper price tag and surer production of veteran wideout Brandon Marshall, obtaining him for a fifth-round pick earlier on Friday. Releasing Harvin also means the draft pick the Jets owe the Seahawks now drops from a fourth-rounder to a sixth-rounder.

Harvin turns 27 in May, has been prone to injury, and will be looking for his fourth NFL on the free agent market. Despite his liabilities and rumors of discord with former teammates and coaches in a couple of those stops, he will likely be a hot commodity as few players offer his game-breaking ability as both a wideout/running back and a dynamic return specialist.

This guy was the Viking passing offense not all that long ago. Then he became a malcontent, and has been a malcontent with the 'hawks as well.
IF he can behave himself and not become a cancer, he brings instant credibility to any receiving unit. The Jets soured on him/and his contract quickly as well.... IF he reduces his asking price about half- i'd bring him in. Just minimize the guarantees so that if he acts out, can cut him without losing money.

Sanchez, Eagles in talks for a return

Michael David Smith on March 7, 2015
PFT

Mark Sanchez may be satisfied to remain in Philadelphia.

The Eagles and Sanchez are in talks and have a strong mutual interest in staying together for 2015, according to NJ.com.

If Sanchez returns, that means he’s settling for a situation in which he’d likely be a backup again, and maybe even a third-stringer if the Eagles keep starter Nick Foles and draft coach Chip Kelly’s former Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota.

Sanchez may be the best free agent quarterback available this year, not that that’s saying much. The other top free agent quarterbacks available include Brian Hoyer, Jake Locker, Christian Ponder and Scott Tolzien.

Perhaps Sanchez wants to stay in Philadelphia because he realizes there wouldn’t be many opportunities to start elsewhere. If Sanchez has to be a backup again this year, he’d likely prefer to remain a backup in a place where he’s comfortable, and that’s Philadelphia.

JMO, but I wouldn't even call his agent. This dude has nasty written all over him, and it isn't the type of nasty that's positive.

I'd much rather give Hartline a little more money than he's worth before I'd consider Harvin. Percy will no doubt generate interest n' find a new home, but again JMO - I hope the Cleveland Browns are not a contender in that list.

Man, inside of a couple of years he has worn out his welcome in 3 different cities.

He won't be back in NY because he is due $10.5 million, and he refused to take a pay cut. Is he worth that? I don't think so. To me, a guy who has never broken 1000 yards is not worth that, especially when he is a general pain in the butt, and headache, all at the same time.

Isn't it Harvin who suffers from migraines?

Harvin was a malcontent at Florida. There are rumors of him body slamming a coach when he was there. He pretty much ran the entire Florida team (the team had Tebow, Spikes, Haden, and Hernandez) because everyone was scared of him.

While uber-talented, Harvin is just a straight up bad guy. It's too bad, because if we were to sign him he would be able to fill multiple holes for us at once (receiver and returner).

A bit injury prone I am not so sure. Dansby and Weatherspoon would make a nice MLB tandem. Backups Kirksey and Robertson.

Another rumor...

Quote:
ESPN Browns reporter Jeremy Fowler believes Cleveland will be interested in restricted free agent WR Andre Holmes.
Holmes was given an original round tender by the Raiders. The low tender gives the Raiders the right to match any offer sheet Holmes receives, but does not give them any compensation if Holmes walks. The 6'4/210 Holmes would be a great addition for the Browns' smurf-ish wide receiver corps. The Browns pulled a similar stunt last offseason, signing Bengals RFA Andrew Hawkins to an offer sheet and prying him away from Cincinnati.

I got no problem in grading ILB.. to me it is more needed than most will admit.

I thought that Kirksey had a solid rookie season, and that Robertson took huge steps forward last year in filling in for Dansby when he was hurt. I would love to see us add another ILB in the middle rounds of the draft, but I think that we are in pretty good standing at the position right now.

How often do we even use two inside linebackers at the same time?

Dansby was on the field for 814 defensive snaps (69.9%), Kirksey 684 (58.8%), and Robertson 661 (56.8%). Dansby missed four games.

Most teams are in subpackages more often than not. Here is a good article explaining that.

It probably isn't wise to invest money in a player that won't even be on the field 50% of the time.

I would love to have Holmes, but as nothing more than a third or fourth option. He hasn't done much in the league to prove he is a real receiving threat.

Trent Cole scheduled to visit with Cleveland
Mar
7
3/7/2015 12:33:48 PM

Veteran free-agent edge rusher Trent Cole is scheduled to visit the Browns, a league source confirmed to Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal.

The source spoke on the condition of anonymity because the Browns have yet to comment on the visit.

Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia first reported the news and that the visit is scheduled for Sunday.

The Philadelphia Eagles released Cole on Tuesday. He visited the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday and, according to the report, has a visit with the Indianapolis Colts lined up for Monday.

The Browns are in the market for pass rushers partly because outside linebacker Jabaal Sheard will likely depart soon. He’s scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Wow - looks like it's going to take a bit longer to get used to our new coach's name. I read your reply and was trying to figure out what Weeden had to do with any of this..... smile
