I made one of these before, but I did not see it in any of the old pages... Mods forgive me if it's somewhere else.
We finished Breaking Bad last night. Unbelievable. Probably the best series I have ever watched. So good. So many angles. So many different layers to each character and unraveling storyline.
It's pretty awesome how much fan driven stuff there is on the internet. Theory websites. Sites dedicated to easter eggs. Not to mention Better Call Saul. Which is set on our DVR.
I need another show to watch. We will be caught up on BCS shortly. I'm pretty much caught up on Walking Dead. We have discovered The League in the last few months and are almost caught up there as well. Excellent show. It's about a fantasy football league although you don't really have to be a fantasy football enthusiast to enjoy the show.
I have not finished The Wire but I may wait until HBO reissues the HD version.
I don't know how I would do with Game of Thrones. But it's between that and SOA.
I've also heard a lot about Banshee but haven't been able to get a good explanation of what the show is really about.
I disagree on SoA. I thought that show went to turds after about the 4th season. The writing and dialogue became hokey, imo. My wife watched it and I would occasionally catch a snippet here and there and just thought it went south and lost it's original quality. I could never get past Jax and his white sneakers either.
Sperg, if you're fresh off Breaking Bad, jump on Better Call Saul. It's been a pleasant surprise so far.
The show my wife and I really like and watch is Justified. However, it's in its last season and about half way through it. At this point it would be nearly impossible to understand the characters and the story line. I would suggest you watch the show in its entirety season by season.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
Here's the shows I'm currently watching. I tend to like documentaries more than other shows.
Walking Dead (rednecks will rule the world), Ancient Aliens (interesting alternative theories), Sleepy Hollow (I like Crane's rants on taxes), America Unearthed (Yes, Europeans were here long before Columbus), Backstrom (interesting so far, and a cute redhead), Legend of Superstition Mountain (There's gold in them thar hills), Agents of SHEILD (Marvel fan), Dig (I like different views of the end times), Outlander (My wife's Scottish). I'm getting ready to start The Last Man on Earth, as we've all imagined what we would do in that situation.
I'm also quite interested in The Curse of Oak Island, as they found a large cavern at the end of last season. There is something up on that island.
Some shows my wife and I have really enjoyed binging on are Six Feet Under and Dexter. I highly recommend those.
As far as older shows, which I tend to really enjoy, I recently got all of the original Star Treks on blu-ray, so we're working through those again. I'm also a huge CHiPs fan and the third season finally came out last week on DVD. Mine should be in the mailbox tomorrow. I also have the complete Are you Being Served? which was a long running British sitcom and I absolutely adore it.
I've never seen The Wire, but it's due out on blu-ray on June 2nd.

I'm the kind of guy who has to start a show from E1. I can't just really hop into it. I have heard a ton about Justified. We have access to Amazon's prime library, and I believe it's on there. I may have to check that out.
Is it one continous storyline like Breaking Bad or is it more of a season being its own story?
rorschach above: "I recently got all of the original Star Treks on blu-ray, so we're working through those again."
awrighht! I'm envious.
PS. In my opinion, some of the best episodes:
Balance of Terror (great Romulan vs. Enterprise ship-vs-ship action) Charlie X (seems they're overmatched against Charlie) The Naked Time (when everybody gets the sweat disease - one of two with Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley) The Corbomite Maneuver (Kirk outwits superior ship) The Other 74 Episodes
I really am not interested in the story line of Breaking Bad in as such have never watched it.
As far as Justified goes, it's an evolving story line. All of the main characters stay in tact for the most part with new villains and sub-plots added in as the show progresses. To me the characters evolve in changing circumstances so to get the entire underlying story it's certainly one that needs to be seen from its beginning.

Shameless on Showtime is another good one.
Shameless is the only comedy that actually makes me laugh, great show indeed.
Season 5 finale of SOA was epic stuff, probably the most shocking moment of the show. Most shows tend to go south after the fourth season for whatever reason. But I'm still into this show deep. I'm halfway through season 6 and I just started watching at the beginning of January.
Great time of the year for shows though. I have TWD, Shameless, Bates Motel and Better call Saul to watch tonight.
I agree Breaking Bad is the best series of all-time.
A close second, like 1b, would be Walking Dead for me.
My wife and I have 18 month old twin girls. Unfortunately, our TV watching days have pretty much stopped. We made it through 4 or 5 seasons of SOA and 2.5 seasons of 24 before we kind of gave them up. By the time we put the kids to bed, we are both too tired to watch TV.
The only show we really make the effort on is Walking Dead. A lot of people don't like the slow episodes, but I like that they reset the storyline when appropriate.
We are trying to make an effort on Better Call Saul as well. We are currently all caught up. I would say we are slightly disappointed to this point. I think a lot of groundwork is being laid out right now. But if they don't pick it up soon, I think it might fizzle out. Saul is just not as interesting as Walter White. And so far there is no plot ... no main storyline that is developing. It's just getting to know Saul and how he got to where he was in Breaking Bad. I actually fell asleep during episode 2 or 3 and had to watch it again.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...
My Wife and I stumbled upon a show that we've been really enjoying. We found it on Starz network through our cable provider's on-demand service. It's called 'Black Sails.' It's an historical fiction ( based on many true characters) that chronicles the early 1700's in Nassau, Bahamas... a time when there was no true governor to regulate the island chain, and it was considered a pirate haven. It serves as a prequel to RL Stevenson's "Treasure Island."
This ain't no Johnny Depp/Disney venture, me hearties. Although it sports some tremendously well-shot and choreographed battle scenes, the bulk of its appeal lies in the interactions between the principals. Politics, power struggles, international commerce and intrigue rule the day in this series. The themes of loyalty and betrayal are constantly interwoven through the plot, and shifting alliances for expedience's sake are common.
It's very well-written, multi-layered, and beautifully acted by the entire cast. Scenes are so well-filmed one can almost smell the sweat, cheap perfume and rum during the tavern shots. A massive budget has been invested in this production, and it shows.
Find the very first episode in whatever way you wish... and share this adventure with me. I'm halfway through the second season, but I guarantee you: once you've watched 1-2 episodes, you'll binge until you've caught up with us.
One caveat: if you are parents still raining children in your home, it's best to watch this series when they are fast asleep. It definitely earns its TV-MA rating (violence, language, nudity)

Raining children.... That sounds like my wife and my large number of kids.
I don't watch much in the way of TV, but when I do, I typically binge watch.
House of Cards: I got into it at first, but I just stopped watching mid season 3. It became wildly unrealistic after the second murder just to become Vice President, the genuine masturbation to the idea of "power" over money as a senator, and the first-lady/ambassador just going off the cuff changing a plan in front of a Putin-knockoff. I'm done. Should have been sooner.
The 100: It's a bit cheesy and I'm getting somewhat annoyed by the not so subtle, overly dramatic indecision while a team closes in on you as you detonate a target of five energy turbines. But the post-apocalytic hellhole scenario just fascinates me. I'm looking forward to the finale Thursday.
Archer: I appreciate the ridiculous douchey humor.
American Horror Story: Really loved the first three seasons. Liked season 4. Now I think I'm done with Lady Gaga taking the lead role. Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulsen mostly made the show for me (appearances by Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett were just icing on the cake).
Sirens: I actually really liked and got a good bunch of laughs off this. The old vet Paramedic is the fat black detective from Sister Act and some other movies he was type-cast in as the fat detective role (dude must've got gastric bypass). It's written or produced by Dennis Leary, who's a douche. But he's funny when he sticks to what he knows and not jacking Bill Hicks material.
Otherwise, my girlfriend dominates the Netflix as I work second shift. She overloads on nonsense like Drop Dead Diva, Neverland, Witches of East End, and I can't even keep track. At least she doesn't obsess over reality TV and TMZ. I can live with that.
Politicians are puppets, y'all. Let's get Geppetto!
I love Black Sails, I binged watched season 1 before season 2 started.
I started watching Outlander also on Starzz, some reason where I was watching it, episode 4 has been deleted and only 8 out of 10 episodes were available. Guess I will pay for them on Itunes.
I also can't get enough of the Alaska, Klondike, Yukon, Bering Sea gold shows. Don't know what it is but I love them.
Bob Odenkirk has been super funny to me since Mr. Show. I was ecstatic when he joined Breaking Bad & had no doubt I'd be watching Saul. Glad that I've enjoyed it so far.
And I checked out Last Man on Earth on FOX. Liking it, so far...
I'm thinking this is going to be every bit as good as Breaking Bad.
You really have to keep up with going back and forth through time.
We're two episodes in. I like it so far. Saul was such an interesting character on BB that I think this can work. Mike as also an incredible character as well. I think this will last.
I remember Tony Rizzo had Dean Norris (Hank) on Really Big Show some months ago. He confirmed BCS was happening, but said he was going to let the show get its feet wet before even considering any kind of appearance.
I have this feeling that we are going to see Walt at some point. It may just be him as an extra, but Bryan Cranston is such a cool guy that he'd do it.
Most of the characters from BB did an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit, and they're phenomenal. It's pretty cool to read about a show with that much success, with actors and actresses that truly loved working with each other. Breaking Bad was a well oiled machine.
I agree Breaking Bad is the best series of all-time.

I might agree if season 4 was not such a snooze, I mean there are some slow times in season 1 & season 3, but man, how many times can you watch W/W hold his baby or have the whole family set around the dinner table for 10 mins.? My Fav. so far...Black List and Walking Dead. If it wasn't for having to wait in-between seasons nothing can touch Black List.

I want to do it as a Cleveland Brown because that's who I am.”
On the surface, it's a crime procedural. Beneath: a multi-layered murder mystery that serves as the springboard for an unflinching look at American society:
Law Crime Race Religion Stereotypes Socioeconomics/class perception Police Policy Human Nature
It's very smart and nuanced writing, with a cast of actors who sell their roles with a natural ease that sucks you into the story almost from the first minute.
I believe it will do for network television what The Sopranos, The Wire, and Breaking Bad did for cable. It's gritty, honest, and is pulling no punches about the way s#!t really is in daily life.
15 million viewers jumped onto this show in its first week of exposure, and I believe the majority will ride this show out for its first full season. It's that good.
I also like the style of directing. It's almost documentary in its look, with an "un-glammed" immediacy that forces you to see the people depicted in the storylines.

Less than a year ago (on another TV-based thread), I touted a show called " The Divide" which only ran for one season. It featured a friend/professional colleague of mine. I watched that show as a favor to a bro... but found myself sucked into the story for many of the same reasons I find this new show so compelling. (His show was run on AMC's 'little sister' spinoff, WE TV... and they couldn't gain enough market share to green-light a second season.)
This is a TV show for viewers who don't mind thinking about what they've just seen. It will force you to examine not only the characters, but the reasons why you might identify with certain characters... or even parts of other characters, based upon their own personal motivations.
2 episodes.... and I'm hooked.
For years, we've heard TV entertainment described as "silly," "sophomoric," "vacuous," and "a vast wasteland." Here is your chance to get in on the ground floor of a show that's going to force network TV to break out of its shell... and go toe-to-toe with the cable studios. This (fictional drama) is 'REAL.'
