Well, that's kind of a bummer. Was hoping we'd be in on that one.

Trent Cole seems the more realistic signing right now. He's on the back nine of his career, and we'll over pay for him, like we did last year with Whitner and Dansby. Those two worked out well, so I wouldn't mind giving a solid veteran like Cole a big contract (just not a HUGE one).

To the "Gresham has hands of stone" comment, I reply with:
http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/players/333278/jermaine-gresham/#Dropped%20Passes$GameType=279588574&SeasonMax=9999&SeasonMin=1990
2 drops last year, 3 the year before. Really only had one bad year for dropsies.
So yeah...I'll take Gresham.

Gresham is also the only NFL TE who has never dropped a red zone pass ever in his career...pretty sharp...I wanted him for months

After listening to Pettine today I don't expect us to sign anybody tomorrow or the next few days ... we're not going to overspend.
So whichever one of the "decent" TEs is left will probably be ours.
With each passing day in free agency, the price tags come down considerably.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

we won't overspend but we have to spend approx $71m over this and next offseason. So...we will spend.
On the TE front, I'll guess Ed Dickson

For those saying Cecil shorts has horrible hands. I love how you leave out his incredible improvement this season in that regards. If we played 4 games a year he'd drop a ball a game.

With each passing day in free agency, the price tags come down considerably. No doubt you don't get value on day one. Give it a week or so and you can still get decent players at decent value. Make no mistake, you won't find many studs after a few days, but you can still get good, NFL average players who can round out your roster with a starter quality player. Improve the roster. That's the goal.

While he improved in 2014, he still has a much longer history of not having even average hands. Is this a player we want in the role of Miles Austin (who seemingly caught everything last year)?

We are looking into moving TC to Columbus to make more money, but we don't want to spend money on improving the product on the field. And most people are "okay" w/it.

Like I said in another thread.....maybe we can't.
You don't have season tickets anymore, so that shouldn't be a issue, and training camp is a non issue my friend. Those people can go to games. I know I would rather go to games over going to a stupid training camp.

peen, I get that Haslam is from Tennessee and you are backing him all the way.
However, I am allowed to have my opinion. I backed the guy big-time at first. I supported him perhaps more than anyone on here. I wanted to believe in what he was doing. I really did.
However, his actions have soured me on him.
I care about the Browns winning. All I see is him making moves to increase revenue and I do not see the same zeal in regards to improving the product on the field.
You might not care. Others might not want to see it. That's fine. I am fine w/your opinion. But, I ain't changing mine because guys act like my opinion is nonsensical.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdo...-170500072.htmlPotential landing spots for former Texans WR Andre Johnson With Josh Gordon suspended again, new quarterback acquisition Josh McCown needs someone to throw the ball to besides 5-foot-7 Andrew Hawkins. If Johnson signed with Cleveland, he’d immediately become the best receiver on the roster. It’d be a major coup for general manager Ray Farmer, but would Johnson be interested?

The Raiders tendered WR Andre Holmes at the original level, which is the lowest. That puts him in the $1.52M slot. At 6-4 with speed, he'd be worth a long look. Guy had 47 catches, 14.7 YPC, 4 TD. Plus, DeFilippo knows him.

Now let the Browns sign WR Crabtree, TE Gresham, DT Dan Williams, OLB Akeem Ayers.. We would be in good shape for the draft.

I would have no problem giving up a 2nd for the guy. I think harrison is a young casey Hampton. Jets will probably match but I would make them earn it.

Skrine has stated he wants to test market and kudos to him for earning that opportunity.
I've read Browns are one of many teams interesting in signing him and other teams have bowed out already due to high price.
The Browns understand he wants to test the market and will let the market dictate his price tag. The best they can do is make him a solid offer after that, but I'm sure they have a ceiling. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. He appears to have a lot of great friends on the Browns, namely Joe Haden.
I can't recall where I read it, but someone compared Skrine's career trajectory to Brent Grimes, which I thought was interesting.

Browns fans, those of you thinking @RayFarmerGM has been sitting on his hands during the initial period are sadly mistaken #BrownsTwitter https://twitter.com/LaneAdkinsAnd yeah, I guess you can also follow Ray Farmer on Twitter too.
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

He was the ONE player I did not want the Browns to sign in free agency, and they of course grabbed him as quickly as they possibly could. He's a worse version of Jake Delhomme, simply awful. I watched a lot of Bucs games last season because I had a couple of their players on my fantasy team, McCown was horrid.

I see zero chance at the Browns landing Revis or Andre Johnson.
Johnson has been in the league 12 years, why on earth would he want to come play for another rebuilding team that's still two or three years away from competing for a Superbowl? (and that's a best case scenario).
Revis would cost us A TON of money, and I can't see Farmer/Haslam shelling out that kind of dough to a position that we're already deep at. I'd rather just pay Skrine his $7.5 million a year and bring him back.
Hoping maybe we can land Trent Cole and Cecil Shorts III today.
I'm not expecting any big names or splash moves though.
A good defensive tackle would be nice, but Farmer may just be content with drafting that position.
